The Fox, Hanwell

I've dreamt about a decent local for years! The Fox is a Camra pub, and Colin the guvnor, (well sort of, its a family owned pub) keeps the standards of his regular and guest ales to an awesome standard. He's a London Pride Man, I'm a Timothy Taylor's Man, and many a lively debate has ensued over this important issue.

The Fox is all about a welcome. People go there to enjoy conversation over a pint, or with friends, or over a well-priced meal with a decent wine. It's the opposite of cliquey, the antithesis of a theme or chain owned pub. Quiz night on Thursday is superb, home grown, challenging and entertaining, but doesnt interfere with the dartboard in the corner. The Easter beer festival is a wonderful thing to behold.

Sorry to hear "Weston" the massive fan had a perceived set back. Talk to Colin, old chap! He and his team are on the ball, and run the best local I've ever had.

It's a real pub, for real people with fires in winter, a thoughtful provision for people who like a smoke outside, close by the secluded garden. The two magnificent black Standard Poodles are celebrities in their own right, as is the manic dog with a passion for catching beer mats in mid air...

Many of the regulars travel to get there, as do I - a 40 minute walk if I'm up to it. Engage with customers and staff there, and you will find a welcome.

My rating? For the Pub, 11/10. For the Timothy Taylor's Landlord last night, off the scale. That Good.

Go, and enjoy.
