The Railway, Euxton

We have visited the Railway in Euxton on a few occasions and in the past we have been really happy with the service, the choice and the quality of the food - our experience on Sunday 19th July 09, was not so good and rather a let down to the extent that we were wondering if the pub had changed in ownership or management from the last time we were over. It seemed to take quite a while for our food to arrive and the place wasn't really busy. We had to ask as to the whereabouts of our order as we honestly thought we had been forgotten about (especially as a few of the staff were hanging around chatting near the till area - when perhaps they should have been checking on the progress of the food for customers).

My husbands choice, the marsh roast lamb was fine - no complaints, however I ordered the Railway 8oz grilled prime steak burger and I was asked how I wanted it cooked. I requested that it was 'well done' as I prefer meat to be cooked that way. Anyway - when it finally arrived it was still quite pink inside. For the length of time it had taken for us to receive our order I would have thought that the burger would have been well done as requested. Perhaps we were given someone elses as there seemed to be a few customers ordering burgers?

When a member of staff asked if our food was OK we did mention about the meat being pink and she offered to take it back, though we declined because we had waited so long for our food and we were really hungry. My husband ate most of the burger and I had some of his lamb instead.

When we came to pay for the food the waitress said that we can put a tip on the debit card if we wanted to. We thought that she had rather a cheek really since she was the same waitress who was aware of our complaint and generally customers would only consider tipping for good service & food.

I have emailed the Railway @ Euxton with this feedback but to date I haven't received any response.
