The Sun Inn, Welwyn Garden City

If you want a few drinks then I suggest the Long Arm and Short Arm., which has a far friendler atmosphere.The Sun Inn is mainly geared towards pub grub. As others have noticed the place has a very downmarket vibe to it. Karaoke and Bernard Manning type "humour" is the order of the day on a weekend night.
I would like to suggest The Long Arm and Short Arm or Waggoners (Ayot Green) for drinking. For food I suggest The East (used to The Bull) in Stanborough or else Ask In Welwyn Garden City.

I have to back up what Sue Lovell said. I went there last Monday evening with my family. They serve Chinese/Thai dishes. The menu is split into starters, their own specials and the classics.
The food and service is excellent. They have a wide range of beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks. The place is clean. If you are drinking the area on the right of the enterance has the right sitting. The area on the left is geared towards food.
