The Rising Sun, Mossley

I love The Rising Sun. The views of the valley are beautiful, the selection and variation of Real Ale is exceptional, always well kept and served with a smile by the (more often than not) friendly and informed bar staff.
Sadly, on my last two visits I've felt uncomfortable about the extra curricular activities quite openly happening in and around the premises. I'm an open minded man with a "Do whatever you want" attitude to others and life, however, I'm not sure the smells of the "specialist tobacco" quite fitted with the families bringing their children in for a Sunday afternoon (wonderful, by the way) pizza. I'm a smoker and it was even happening in the covered smoking area to the rear.
I believe the landlord is a popular chap and has always been amiable on my visits, as has his wife (who makes the stunning pizzas) they keep a wonderfully clean and inviting local. I just hope for the old fuddy-duddies like me, this doesnt and hasn't become the norm.
I will be back for the views and the beers, but I won't be rushing.
