Profile information

I like to drink good quality real ales, well kept and served with a smile. Therefore, I don't mind doing a little bit of research to find out where the best places are.

The Three Legged Mare, York

I think this place has a lot going for it, and for me at any rate consistently serves up great beers and decent food. I wouldn't describe it as sterile. A word to the wise - make use of the disabled lavvy facilities at ground level rather than negotiate the somewhat scary spiral staircase (oooph, nice bit of alliteration there, Ken)

The Blue Bell Inn, Wentbridge

This is a no nonsense down to earth friendly pub with consistently good beer, good food and excellent service. I suppose the main road it's on used to be called the A1 at some point in the past? Which makes it a very handy stopping off point if you're on a long journey.

The Ferry Inn, Wilford

After four or five visits in recent weeks, on the whole I feel the service is consistently very slow. They always seem to have plenty of staff on but it can be hard to figure out what they're all doing. Beer, food and wine are all pretty good. There always seem to be lots of flies buzzing around, and this wouldn't happen if more attention was paid to cleaning the tables.
