Profile information

I live in Hampshire and do love a pint of real ale, although I'm no CAMRA type or "Old Fart".
It's not just the beer, it's the pubs themselves: the more down to earth the better.

The Cedars, Binsted

Classic village pub. No pretentions whatsoever. Freshly cooked grub, variety of nice beers (but not a "serious Real Ale afficionado's" pub...you takes whatever they have on that day)
Nice locals and regular parties of cyclists, ramblers.
Separate restaurant or eat in Bar. Easy parking. Garden with big covered BBQ area (God-send for smokers on wet winter evenings!)
Very relaxed and no petty rules and regulations about dogs, kids , boots etc etc. Can accommodate a small number of caravans on land at rear (Caravan club). Visit on last Saturday in July (25th this year) on Fete weekend...it's brilliant then!

The Halfway House, Bucks Horn Oak

This is a tiny, quaint little stone built pub. Was always very friendly & good both lunchtimes & evenings.Rough patch resulted in temporary closure. Now thankfully reopened with nice new couple and locals once again happy to eat & drink there enjoying the cosy and friendly atmosphere.Great for visitors too especially if you're walking or cycling in the Alice Holt Forest as it's a short walk from the main Visitor Centre. Shame not open all afternoon on Sundays.Easy to find: bang on the A325 in the middle of the stretch that runs through the Forest.Short drive from "Birdworld" and way better than "The Miller's Kitchen" Harvester-style grot-pub at Holt Pound which is grim.
