The Maltings, York

Absolutely love this pub! Usually the first pub we visit when we arrive in York (if we can get in - always very busy).
Shaun (the owner) looks a bit scary I must admit but he's not when you get to know him! Always makes us feel very welcome! Food fabulous - but only eat there if you're really hungry - huge portions!The look on some poeples faces when they see the size of the portions is a joy to behold!

The Brown Cow, York

We went into this pub in 2008 as we couldn't believe it could be as bad as the reviews - it was! At about 3pm on a Sunday afternoon the clientelle were running amok and I can honestly say I've never finished a drink so fast in my life! Was not a bad looking pub mind you - so hopefully now that's under new management it will improve!
