Age-old real old timer pub on the walk between Pier Head and Moorfields station.

Great atmosphere, good ale and steeped in tradition.

The Ma Boyles Oyster Bar, Liverpool

Ma Boyles is not only the closest decent restaurant and pub to the Pier Head Isle of Man port but also a good price, good food and good beer establishment.
Walking up Chapel St towards Moorfields Station (or just behind James St Station), the restaurant is just over the flat gravestones of St Nicholas's churchyard.
I found this pub/restaurnat whilst waiting once for a froce 11 to abate to a force 10 when sailing home to the Isle of Man.

The Hesketh Arms, Southport

Sad to hear of the "major renovation". Since when could the British renovate successfully? Probably killed all that olde worlde charm that the place had from the subsequent comments. Was really my favourite Sunday roast pub in Southport!
