The Selkirk, Tooting

Been in this pub a few times and was in just recently on a visit to London. I had an outstanding pint of Wandle Ale, in fact I had two or three over the course of an afternoon. No complaints with the beer at all but I had the feeling that this place is trying to re-position itself as a food out-let that sells beer rather than a pub that sells food. If I was going on a pub crawl in Tooting, this one would be first on the list as an early visit, while you don't need to actively think about your behaviour.

Dog and Gun, Keswick

No wonder that this pub is so busy. Excellent array of ales on offer. The Landlords Choice was the best pint that I have had in a while. Dog friendly, beer friendly, people friendly, eating friendly. Owners that drone on about the smoking ban crippling their trade should have a look at this place. On a dark, rainy Thursday afternoon, this place was full up, while other nearby pubs only had the TV for company.

Royal Oak, Ambleside

This pub is like a tardis in reverse as it is a lot smaller on the inside. Sustantial list of hand pulls on offer, decent food at fair prices and efficient services. The only but, is that we were in on a Monday afternoon and less than a dozen people made the eating area almost cramped. The owners needs to look at the way this pub is set up. The outside area would be a feature draw in the summer months though, and perhaps that is when this place rakes in the dosh.
