on cogitating why I have registered on this site I've concluded that endlessly in search of the epiphany of a good beer as I am, which of course must be enjoyed in the convivial sorroundings of a comfortable pub with welcoming locals and bar staff and if possible a well stocked jar of pickled eggs on the shelf! I should not only reap, but also sow my knowledge of the said establishments

An early touch (5.30 ish)is my bent.

one pint if I'm on my way home,
Two pints if I'm out for 'a wet' with a friend,
Three pints if 'lively banter' is afoot.

a pickled egg? ... I should Co Co

If top notch grub's on offer then 'Ding Dong'.. note it down, and return with 'top totty' on arm, one warm evening,... always making the effort to impress, I would make a point of picking the totty up in the ultimate 'skirt magnet' the vynal roofed brown Allegro, with the eight track pushing some Santana through the goodmans, ... hold tight, that man!.

The Victoria, Lincoln

I must concur with 'brisk' on the Harvest Pale, its a fine pint, and my usual wet in the Vic on a Friday.
All the beers are very well kept and the food is good,
Recent changes are few and subtle but I do miss the old staff, although the new bods seem to be settling in well, I echo ritark by saying lets hope that the guest list isnt going to suffer to much from the Batemans take over!
The same regular faces seem to be sitting tight, thank goodness, and are always forthcoming with a smile or a nod, they, along with the beers make the place what it is. A great real ale city pub with character

Great staff both in the bar and the restaurant, very friendly locals and some of the best kept ale i've sampled, (No pickled eggs !! what are they thinking.. away to the cash and carry with you Mr Royal Oak landlord) the grub was outstanding, so it'll be a re-visit with the totty me thinks!!
