The Anchor Inn, Epney

Lovely country pub, and a haven for real ale fans. Has a good menu of unpretentious food - my faggots were superb for 5.95 !!!
Has a small, friendly bar used by the locals, or a spacious lounge overlooking the garden and River Severn.
Sufficiently hard to find to discourage noisy young townies or hordes of young families, so an ideal country pub to visit for a chat with friends, maybe a meal, or just a quiet couple of excellent beers.

The Salutation, Berkeley

Lovely beer in a very 'local' local. Farmhands and locals squeeze into the tiny bar - a friendly lot but obviously all well known to each other, so could feel cliquey (sp?) to 'outsiders'!
Don and Sue keep 4 excellent real ales, at very keen prices and in wonderful condition. An excellent local boozer, and fine for 'early doors' or a late Saturday night. Limited but adequate 'old fashioned' pub food (scampi, fish, chicken - and chips, of course), and excellent chunky cheese and onion rolls if you're there early evening.
Recommended to real ale lovers everywhere.

The Old Spot, Dursley

Fantastic real ale pub - a beer drinker's delight. Shame they now sell food, but they do limit this to lunch and early evening. Very popular, traditional boozer, with 8 - 10 real ales in superb condition. Likes to support local brewers too, some always some interesting finds to try. Gave it 9 - would have been 10 if they'd resisted the urge to reserve tables for food at lunchtimes. Fantastic pub!
