Was a gem, however the new "management" have hiked up the prices and lowered the standard of food.

Oven chips should not be deep fried!! and the oil used to cook the fish should be a.)hot enough to fry, b.) changed frequently.

The Bottle House, Penshurst

We have read the reviews, and on my partner�s behest, loaded up the postcode on faithful tomtom, et voila we arrived. Location stunning, backdrop equally stunning, interior�well you get the idea. After a large white wine, and a pint of Larkins Coinin settled on the 8oz burger and I, your humble author, decided on the old favourite sausage and mash. Coinin�s burger was decidedly over-cooked & excessively coated with an unusual salsa, mayonnaise and mustard combination. Coinin had extolled the virtues of Speldhurst sausages and when they arrived looked like they�d cooked in the deep fat fryer! They lay sadly lay on a bed of lumpy mashed potatoes. We couldn�t decide if the gravy was from a packet or home made, but by the end of the dish the sickly sweetness let us to believe the former. On the whole a great pub for a drink and move on, eat there again�we think not!
