The Nelson, Wood Green

I'm so glad DollyBoy that someone else has picked up on the lack of cellar craft in the Nelson. Only one proper beer (IPA) is ever on offer and it's not rocket science to have a fresh barrell ready to go when one runs out. Not so here! One, two, three or maybe four days go by before someone gets around to putting the new barrel on. I thought the idea was to sell beer so that your customers could piss it out, not piss on (off) your customers. Consistency, quality of service and stock control seem to be concepts that have yet to filter through to the management here, but what do they care. Lazy, bone idle or what, I don't know, but other pubs seem to manage the trick of having some beer in stock and ready to go. If you really need a pint of IPA around Wood Green you do not go to this Greene King pub. Still the summer holidays will be here soon and landlord Billy will be off to his villa in Cyprus leaving the great Pete in charge. Everything seems to run much more smoothly then. Spouter's Corner, Wood Green

Total rubbish. Service, what service? Whoever had the idea of putting a pub into this space should be shot. Totally inappropriate without putting in false ceilings and partitions The place is just TO BIG to be a comfortable place . A totally soulless and desolate place even though it was packed out.

The Toll Gate, Hornsey

Great pub. Sort of like a large village pub put in a town! Some staff a bit 'like I want to be elsewhere' but they get there in the end. A good range of beers, a fantastic range for this area, and they seem well kept. Has an outside bit so you can sit in the sun although it was a bit smoky and noisy from the traffic.
