Thought we'd try this place again having heard it might have changed hands. Sadly it hasn't - the service is still surly and unfriendly, the place is lacklustre and the beer is average. If you're in the area, the Exeter Inn is a better bet.

What a shame - apparently this was a cracking pub with great food, but changed hands recently. When we went the new owners had recently moved in (Dec. 2009), but early indications weren't promising - service was slow and confused (I was given another table's food that was then removed 10 minutes later), and in our party of 4 the food came out in a staggered fashion with 20 minutes' delay between some dishes. The lager was flat and the decor was very shabby. Sadly not one to revisit.
