The White Horse, Pulborough

We had stopped going here about 18mths ago because the food was so variable but tried again yesterday.
On a positive note we received a very warm,friendly welcome. The beer was very well kept.
However the meals were appalling.
We had two badly undercooked Dover Soles and one scampi with chips that,in our view,had probably been cooked in fat/oil that should have been changed some while ago. We like crunchy vegetables but the broccoli was almost raw.
I suspect that many of the items on the menu would probably be fine however I doubt (at least yesterday) they had the expertise to cook Dover Sole...in which case why sell it!
On complaining the only response was "I'll tell the chef".
We removed the service charge from the bill (on the basis 'service' should include correct cooking!).
We will not return!
