The Rising Sun, Hampton Hill

{{{ sigh }}} Im not getting into a war over a watering hole with a complete stranger who obviously cannot use a computer properly as if u had of done u would of seen I have reviewed many pubs and yours was not the first and only one unlike some people who only seem to comment on the rising sun.
I did detect the sarcastic tone but I gather u did not pick up on mine but I would not expect that from someone who clearly contradicts themselves and can't decide whether they are talking about a pub they visit or maybe something more.
I am allowed to remark on the bad experience I had at the sun and if that offends people then they really do need to fix the problems so customers are happy !!
Customer service and customers ( full stop ) are what keeps a business in business so should be priorty. Simple as.

The Rising Sun, Hampton Hill

Yet another posting from a one off user..... how curious.
A vendetta ..... What an odd comment to make from a simple mere drinker of the rising sun, like myself !!
Am i not allowed to comment on this pub because i have faults with it.
Everyone has their own opinion and mine is that this pub is far from the pub that these "one time posters" has bigged it up to be.
I am entitled to my opinion and my opinion is that this pub started out with so much potential but is now driving away custom with problems i cannot go into on this site without offending certain people !!
So as for the "weatherspoons" comments..... are u saying that people should pay more to drink in the rising sun ?? WHY !??! Because u have just contradicted yourself by saying your food and drink is not over-priced and is value, but then advising me to eat and drink at a weatherspoons as its cheap?!? Why should the drinks and food in the rising sun be SO much more when the quality is the same as a weatherspoons, if that.
The regulars and locals were excited when the owners took over and transformed the rising sun but gradually its been going downhill and the regulars are going elsewhere ( probably to weatherspoons as u said for a bit of atmosphere !! ) and this poor ole boozer is suffering.
Such a shame its dying.

The Rose and Crown, Kew

Hadn't been in this pub for a while and was looking forward to it as i used to love drinking in here last summer.
whats happened !?!?
The food used to be top notch but it was cold and slightly bland.
Prices have gone up a bit too and the ales and spirits were a little over priced.
The pub could do with a bit of a re-vamp. I understand the owners want to keep the original tudor look but that can be worked with as its very dark and depressing, a lick of paint could really change the interior drastically !
Cant fault the gardens tho.... in the day its a gorgeous sun-trap out the back and out the front you have a lovely view of the green. The outdoor seating is always packed and i personally think its because no one wants to sit in the dark dingy pub. Such a shame.
I do fault this pub but there is so much potential ..... c'mon guys bring this pub back to what it was !

The Bugle Inn, Brading

This is one of my favourite pubs on the island !!
Family friendly but also has a part of the pub which is for the more "quiet" drinker.
Wide range of cheaply priced drinks served by polite helpful staff.
The food is gorgeous and very reasonable and the special curry night and burger night that we experienced when we visited were a winner.
There is a huge outside play area for families and also an indoor soft play area. The kids love it !
The whole pub is bright and clean and welcoming.
When the food arrived at my table from a helpful waitress, it was served with manners, which a lot of pub staff lack these days !! I cannot fault the food. Each of us had a different dish and each of us were equally thrilled with what we had ordered. Generous portions but they was so delicious no one wanted to leave any !! Still managed to look at the desert menu though..lol. What a wide selection of dishes and something for everyone and everyones budget !
Cannot fault the ales and spirits as each one went down easier than the first as so reasonable.... not a fan of the local ale from godshill but not the pubs fault.
Huge car park at the side which is handy but in the summer as the pub is so popular u may have to search elsewhere for parking as around early evening the place gets quite crowded. Plenty of parking down the road though.
I cannot wait to return here in a couple of weeks.

Keep up the good work Bugle as u are a winner !!

Whats happened to freedom of speech ??
Thought this site was about opinions and review of pubs.
So unless a pub gets a good review then it gets removed !??!?! huh ?!?!
made an honest review of this pub and it was removed as it was ...... ahem reported.... reported for telling the truth.

Once again here is a review of this pub......

Ordered food and it was overpriced and slung in front of me with no thank you. Food was ok but not for the money i paid.
Pub is dead in the day and IN MY OPINION shouldn't bother opening till evening.
Even then then evening is also dead and the only good crowd was on a friday for karaoke but now that has been cut to once a fortnight.
The drinks are more expensive than other surrounding pubs but its worth paying extra if u enjoy the silence and your own company. But then again u could sneak a drink into the local library and u would have a better time.
One thing i like about local pubs is a warm friendly welcome u expect as a regular in your local but have never felt that in this pub and its a shame. In 2 years apart from a certain friendly red headed barmaid who always made me feel pleased i popped in, i was never treated with good customer service at all.... and thats the truth and MY OPINION which i am entitled to make.
its really going downhill and losing regulars fast !!!

Yates's, Hounslow

What a dive !!!!!
A cattle market of young under age chavy girls throwing themselves over whoever wants to buy them a drink.
Loud and rude and scarily trashy girls and dirty older men looking to "hook up" with these desperate teenagers.
dance floor was a sea of sticky spilt drinks.
The pub stank and the toilets were filthy !!
Staff made u wait a lifetime before service even if u were the only one waiting !!
Cheap drinks but would rather pay more and drink elsewhere !!
Avoid if u dont wanna be glassed at the end of the night or be known to drink in a place where desperate people go to drink to hook up !!!!!!!

The Cardinal Wolsey, Hampton Court

Good pub and good venue for catching some brill bands !!
Walked in and was made to feel welcome straight away.
Some mad old rock chick soon dragged me onto the dance floor and had me dancing !!
Considering the area, so close to the palace, the prices are quite reasonable.
The ale went down a treat.
Looks are deceiving as i always avoided this pub due to the noise coming from there and some dodgy looking biker folks outside but i was wrong and will be drinking in there again.
The landlord and staff didn't make me wait too long for a drink and i received service with a smile which is rare these days but should be compulsory when people are taking your money and u are given them custom. In this pub i received good service so well done cardinal !!
A few things were a little off ..... the outside drinking area was in poor shape, but nothing a few pound could fix. The toilets were run down and dirty and could do with some improvement.
Another thing and depending on your age this may be a plus or a negative ... I found that the people who venture in there were to wrong side of 50 and if u are under that u may not want to drink in there. Mostly male, over the hill, wannabe rockers. Sorry any regular who read this as i enjoyed my visit and chats with the people in there but gotta tell it how i see it.
The ale and spirits went down a treat. I have only ever been down here in the evenings so haven't sampled the food on offer. Next time i am local i would gladly give it a go though.
All pubs have a clicky vibe but didn't experience that in this pub which was a nice change.
Down side also, is the parking. Being so close to the palace parking is permit and if not is sparse. There is a bus stop right outside though so thats a plus.
The pub itself is a bit dated and i understand the landlords probably want to keep its "charm" what with it being so close to the palace, but it could do with a serious cash injection in the improvement of the decor.
Good pub but could do so much better.
Looking forward to seeing the loudshirts again.
good little boozer for live bands.

The Green Man, Hatton

Not a bad boozer. Friendly staff and the locals didn't give me evils when i walked in. Stayed for a couple of pints as i felt comfortable in here and it had an ok vibe about the place.
Reading previous comments about planes going over every few minutes..... if u drink in a pub which is next to an airport u would expect that and surely u cant put that down as a negative comment about a pub. U cant miss the airport...... surely !??!
Had lunch here and it was quite nice i will eat again here for sure.
Crisp cold beer outta a clean glass .... rare these days i can tell u !!
Could do with improved entertainment and would result in more custom.
Not a bad boozer at all and will pop in again !!

The Load of Hay, Bedfont

Recently went in this pub and wont return.......

What is it will pubs in feltham !!! They all have the clicky chav virus !!

Was made to feel so unwelcome and couldn't wait to finish my drink and get out !!
The staff were rude and i dare not look any of the pub goers in the eye for fear of what it would cause.

The pub has so much potential and its such a shame as i remember going in here many years back and always having a good drink and great time with whoever i got chatting to in there.

Oh how it has changed and not for the better. Such a shame.

The Brook House, Hayes

When in the area i often pop into this pub.
There are always decent bands on, which are mostly rock covers, but thats in my favour and i haven't heard a band in there i didn't enjoy.
The midweek entertainment is also top notch too. Well done for that. Its rare that a pub can bring in a good crowd in the week !!
I have never felt unwelcome when i have been in there and most of the staff are friendly apart from the short older gentleman who i believe to be the landlord and a young short guy with dyed blonde hair..... these two have both been fairly rude to myself and other pub goers around me and I dont think i have ever seen these two smile !!!
The garden area is huge and clean enough. Get a few rowdy folk out there but nowt who are out for trouble and just those enjoying a night out and are a little loud due to the effects of alcohol.
The whole pub itself was clean enough apart from a streak of s**t on the wall of the toilet that was wiped there and is still there at least 8 months on..... otherwise compared to other pubs it was a nice change to find a pub that was clean enough for me to relax in and want to eat in.
The pub is in a prime location and easy to get to so thats a bonus and if u are staying on the soft drinks and driving then this pub has a huge car park, but the downside to that is that it is constantly packed no matter what time of the day and night u visit the pub.
When time is called i understand that there is alot of people needing to be ushered out of the pub but the landlord does it in a way where u feel like not returning the next week and if he could hold ur mouth open and tip the drink down the back of your throat to hurry u up then i think he would !!
All in all though i enjoy coming here and i will be continuing to frequent this pub !

5 Jun 2011 18:53

The Red Lion, Feltham

A clicky unwelcoming pub. Punters stared as i walked in and continued to stare and make me feel that it was wrong to be there the whole time i was supping my pint.
Even sitting 20 metres away from the toilets wouldn't stop the overwhelming scent of urine from stinging your nostrils !!
I ventured out into the garden and quickly retreated inside as there looked liked 2 seperate groups of equally chavy fowl mouthed youngsters throwing verbal abuse at each other and looking like it was going to become physical.
A nice looking pub from the outside but so very disappointing on the inside.
Beer glass was dirty and the young lady the other side of the bar scratching and picking at her head put me off ordering any food.
Such a shame as this pub is in walking distance from my work and home and would of gladly made it my local.
It needs some money put into doing up the interior and also some money spent on some bouncers to kick out the mouthy out of control chavs and i bet u this pub would be a winner with some more "decent" folk in there. So much potential but being run into the ground and quickly gaining the name of the worst pub in feltham !!!
