The Swan, Wantage

Have been here quite a bit recently and noticed they're offering a good little selection of real ales and the odd cider which appear to change often.
Good pub for a night out; live bands play fairly often or you can have a bop in the disco upstairs which also has a little bar.
I like the fact I can buy a good pint in here after the decent pubs in Wantage have closed on a Friday or Saturday night.

The Shoulder of Mutton, Wantage

Interesting characterful little pub with a few separate seating areas and a courtyard garden resembling the hanging gardens of Babylon in the summer. Staff friendly and locals always up for a chat.
Serve a couple of BUTTS ales, plus one frequently changing other.
Has internet access too.

The Kings Arms, Wantage

On the face of it this place looks great with loads of character both inside and out. Layout a bit odd and can be a bit chavy at times. Dosen't have the real ales you can get across the road in the Shoulder of Mutton. Nice large garden.

The Blue Boar, Wantage

Yuck. Avoid.

The Lord Nelson, Wantage

Erm, well what can I say, it's a Hungry Horse family pub. Zero atmosphere, no nice ales, loads of kids and deep-fried offerings.
One of the few eating places in Wantage however where you can by a reasonable tasting steak and a bottle of Austrlian Cabernet Shiraz for under 15, so I am tempted now and again.

The Abingdon Arms, Wantage

Nice little pub with a frindly atmosphere and staff, serving some good real ales.
Good for the odd quiz night, folk music session and morris men!

The Royal Oak, Wantage

This pub is the best in the area for it's selection of real ales, friendly staff and punters.
Serve a great selection of real ales and a few ciders which change often. Dr Hexter's Healer, Wedding Ale and Maggs Mild from West Berkshire Brewery are regulars and are well worth a try.

The Boars Head, Ardington

Located in the picturesque village of Ardington, this pub makes a good rest-stop for those out on one of the many walks around the village.
Serve a couple of real ales, which change often.
Nice outdoor seating area.
Only downfall is the very unfriendly/rude barmaids; they really need to learn how to smile and be courteous.
Haven't tried the food. The menu looks good, but have been put off eating there due to consistently unfriendly attitude of bar staff.
