The Fountain Inn, Birmingham

Proper old skool boozer like so many in digbeth. No real ales so if this is what you're looking for you may want to give it a wide berth. Think I had a John Smith but there was bank's in the bottle available.
Juke box and pool table. Mixed set of drinkers. Not a big place with 2 rooms but a large screen for the football.
Could have possibly had a better score if the bloke behind the bar didn't moan, and moan and moan about me wanting the juke box on

The Swan, Tettenhall

Looks like may have changed hands from the previous comments. Couple ales on tap, if I remember correctly I had a green king ipa. Decent enough. Quiet when I went in but whom I assume was the owner was pleasant enough. Quite a large and spacious place, pool table, juke box ect. also plenty of parking.

The Walsall Arms, Walsall

Brilliant pub. Great range of ales, lovely interioramd friendly staff. One of those when you wonder why you havent usedit more

8 Nov 2015 14:05

The Crown, Bloxwich

Now back open. Great little pub. Had a lovely pint of banks bitter. Had the football on and also does indian food. Owner of the pub very friendly and talkative, seems to have lostits reputation of old

The Bloxwich Showman, Bloxwich

Was pleasantly surprised when i went in as its been done up very nice. 2 floors, quite spacious and the usual array of ales youd expect from a weatherspoons

8 Nov 2015 13:54

The Posada, Wolverhampton

Decent pub this. Impressive interior and good choice of ales on at the bar. A bit lifeless when we went in though

8 Nov 2015 13:46

The Great Western, Wolverhampton

Think the posts below speak for themselves but all i add is traditional black country food is ur things then this is the place with grey peas and bacon and faggots on the menu. Fantastic pub

8 Nov 2015 13:43

The Fiddle and Bone, Birmingham

Nice to see this pub back open. We went in during the evening. Lively crowd and entertain. Large pub situated over two floors.large selection of ales

24 Oct 2015 09:13

The Vine, Birmingham

Great little pub on the back streets behind the nonsense of broad st. Unless you look for it you'd never know its there, which is a shame as it probably misses out on customers although it was rammed when i went in. Bit the like ivy bush up the road proper sort of boozer but with more choice of ales. Quite small with the bar and lounge rolling into one unless i missed a room round the back. when we were in free food put on by the staff which is always a winner. Pool table also in the main area.

24 Oct 2015 09:11

The Ivy Bush Inn, Edgbaston

Brillaint pub. If you're looking for ales probably not the places but had a decent pint of mild. If youre looking for a old skool boozer this is the place. Much larger than it appears from the outside with quite a long bar and two big back rooms and both with pool tables. Juke box also. Sky sports. Welcoming staff. Over charged us which we didnt realise and was good enough to bring difference a short while later. Nice to see pubs like this still going

23 Oct 2015 22:22

The New Inn, Harborne

Part of the bitters and twisted chain which includes the victoria and jekyll and hyde in brum tc. Very good pubs but this one had a slight gloomy feel to it. Quite expensive and more food orientated. Still a decent choice of ales

23 Oct 2015 22:17

The Harborne Stores, Harborne

Choice of 3 ales on including green king and epa. It has a bit of chain feel to it. Large beer garden outside so maybe decent in the summer

23 Oct 2015 22:12

The White Horse, Harborne

Very much like the wellington in brum city centre with the list of beers on a screen. Absolute massive choice of ales. Quite small with country feel to it.

23 Oct 2015 22:08

The White House, Hockley

Proper locals pub but left alone to enjoy probably the best pint of mild ive had to date.

8 Oct 2015 22:35

The Bells of Peover, Lower Peover

Went there as there was at wedding reception on the grounds. Lovely setting with the church right opposite. Quite a posh place. 3-4 different ales on pull. Nice staff

8 Sep 2015 19:28

Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem, Nottingham

Fantastic pub and a must if your in nottingham. Its built into the surroundings and claims to be the oldest pub in england. A great choice of ales. Was very busy when we were there on a saturday afternoon. Bit of a labyrinth inside which adds to its character.

13 May 2015 22:12

The Navigation Inn, Nottingham

Just off the main canal strip next to the irish centre. Decent pub with a lot of ales on pull. Friendly staff also

13 May 2015 22:07

William White, Nuneaton

Decent lloyds bar this with the array of beers a typical weatherspoons offers

13 Apr 2015 20:31

The Argyll Arms, Oxford Circus

No back open. Decent pub, decent beer amidst the hustle & bustle.

26 Mar 2015 13:50

The camp, kings norton

Didnt explore the pub but seemed to have several rooms. The front room we were in was quite small but had a pool table. Had just run out of doombar so had a john smiths. Juke box in corner. Barman friendly.

15 Feb 2015 21:06

The Grant Arms, Kings Norton

A bit non descript really. Has an estate pub feel to it although was in no means moody on my. Visit. Large open plan lounge which i stayed in. No ales so had to have a worthingtons. Barman seemed friendly enough

15 Feb 2015 21:03

The Railway Inn, Pelsall

Great little pub that has a country feel to it. Several ales on the pull i think i had a everards. Football on the telly if u like that, juke box. They do small snacks like sandwiches ect. Friendly staff also.

8 Jan 2015 22:01

The Queens, Pelsall

Surprisingly nice pub considering the low ratings. Didnt find it rough in the slightest. Had a hobgoblin and a banks bitter. Theres a narrow lounge as you work in and if you go through the doors directly infront on you it leads you onto a more spacious room at the back with a pool table and juke box. This room though doesnt contain much seating.

8 Jan 2015 21:58

The Villa Tavern, Birmingham

Great old skool type boozer in the back drop of nechells. Old looking outside and in but not in a bad way. Only had a quick one on my dinner so only saw the room as you first go in, which is pretty small. Staff and locals friendly and i must say had the best pint of ansells mild ive had to date.

28 Nov 2014 20:22

Swan and Mitre, Birmingham

Situated right opposite aston station. From the outside looks quite a old historical building. 2 rooms inside and a pool table. As with most in the area youll find a nice pint of mild

13 Oct 2014 22:26

Cap & Gown, Aston

Now named the witton arms. Has a nice local feel to it with a very strong irish theme. Decent pint of mild on pull. Nice in the summer to sit out the front and watch the world go by, well was much as you can in witton

13 Oct 2014 22:22

The Hare of the Dog, Perry Barr

Was pleasantly surprised by this place. Never knew the place existed until someone recommended. Decently size pub with large beer garden. Pool tables juke box ect. The beer lets it down slightly as only john smiths on pull. Although i had nice bottle of bombadier with my mate having a newcy brown, both coming to a little over a 5er. Agreed its a student pub but when i popped in for a friday dinner pint it had a nice vibe. Well worth a look

13 Oct 2014 22:15

Station, Sutton Coldfield

Very impressed with the quality of food. Holdens, timothy taylor and two more i cant remember on tap. Nice relaxed sunday afternoon drink. Nice bit out the back you can enjoy if weather suits. Staff seemed friendly.

21 Sep 2014 21:18

The Rake, London Bridge

Well worth a visit if in the vicinity. Like previously said a small pub but not as small as a i expected. You walk in and you are basically at the bar. There are 3 tall tables you can sit at and a fairly large patio area to the left with a few tables and chairs. Lots and lots of beers to suit all tastes. Some are expensive but the pint i had was £3.60 which aint bad for london. Lots of graffiti on the walls where people have signed on their visit. I normally dont mind stuff like as it adds character but i feel it makes this place look a bit shabby. One other point is the obvious enthusiasm the staff have for beer!

7 Sep 2014 10:01

Horse and Jockey, Darlaston

Decent pub this. Quite narrow inside but a large garden area and a big conservatory at the back that doubles up as another room. A couple locals having a quiet game of darts and 3 ales on pull. Nice friendly pub

12 Aug 2014 19:38

The Seven Stars, Bristol

Like the Cornubia very hard to find but worth a look. We stopped in here before the train home and was quite lively. A selections of decent beers and a juke box.

21 Jul 2014 20:26

The Cornubia, Bristol

Like reviews have said very hard to find. Looks very different to the pictures on here as now lined with england bunting and flags. Quite a hard one to describe as sort of a estate feel to it but 100 % an ale pub and you'll see once inside. Fairly small inside and with a good selection of beers. Look out for the tortoise kept as pets in the tank. very random pub but one of the best i visited throughout the day

21 Jul 2014 20:24

The Shakespeare, Bristol

Worth a visit if on the trek from the station up into the town. A couple of decent ales on (memory is again hazy) and friendly staff. Quite a quaint place so can keep yourself to your self

21 Jul 2014 20:20

Watergates, Chester

A lot bigger than It looks from the outside. Very impressive interior with a lot of rooms including a rooftop terrace. 2 local ales and a doombar when i paid a visit.

31 May 2014 09:20

The Wagon and Horses, Bordesley Green

Decent pint of m&bs was nice. Proper little pub set in the back water of digbeth. Large screen for the football and a juke box

7 May 2014 20:21

Lyndon House Hotel, Walsall

Great pub not far from st matthews church. Probably more reminiscent of a country style pub inside, 6 plus ales on the pull. Not the biggest but if you go outside there is a massive patio that is never ending. Be great for a summer drink. If you are in walsall its a must visit!

25 Mar 2014 19:56

The Chestnut Tree, Wednesbury

To much attention to food. Considering its location its obvious this is what its there for. Maybe worth a quick pint on the way back from ikea (or the way to in many cases!)

2 Mar 2014 21:25

Old Swan, Stonnall

Lovely pub in a nice quiet village. Great food and a top pint of bass was had. Friendly staff and locals. We sat in what would probably be considered the lounge area watching the rugby with our food. Around the other side is a large pool area with a bigger tv.

24 Feb 2014 19:16

Saracens Head, Worcester

Fantastic pub. Several ales including lovely pint of doombar. A large outside bit which you wouldnt expect from the phtoto. Two tv's showing the different matches that were on. Friendly staff and a juke bar. There was a back room but didnt venture in there. Best pub in worcester

16 Feb 2014 21:05

The Dragon Inn, Worcester

I was really disappointed with this place. A good range of ales but as a pub lacked any atmosphere. Just a room selling ales. Couldn't have the usual tasters due to camra members coming to the pub just for tasters and only buying half a pint.

16 Feb 2014 21:02

The Mitre Ale House, Nechells

Vastly improved since my last visit. Had s make over internally and externally. Lovely pint of ansells on tap was enjoyed.

1 Feb 2014 09:24

The Coopers Tavern, Burton-Upon-Trent

29 Dec 2013 20:12

29 Dec 2013 20:10

4 Dec 2013 21:55

27 Oct 2013 20:58

Recently refurbished and very pleasant inside and out. Had the best pint of hobgoblin i've ever tried! Bar staff very welcoming also. Worth a look if in the area.

27 Oct 2013 20:54

The Piccadilly Tavern, Manchester

Great range of beers, Barman also very helpful when deciding on choice. Food well priced. Agree with some of the comments that its got a weatherspoons feel to it but 100 percent worth a visiting if you've just rolled out of piccadilly station

27 Oct 2013 20:49

The City Arms, Manchester

Very good pub this. Barman full of banter who also knew his ales. Brilliant juke box. Had a good vibe to it

27 Oct 2013 20:44

The New Plough Inn, Hinckley

nice rugby pub set just outside the town centre. fair range of ales on. Pub kept really well with a nice mix of people in. Staff friendly and very knowledgeable on their range of ales. Pubs also has a lot of their own beer festivals on throughout the year

20 Sep 2013 21:55

The Blob Shop, Liverpool

Cheap as chips and does what it says on the tin.
Basically just a room where you can sit and have a pint. Sky on the telly and alsorts of characters knocking about. Got a sort of social club feel to it.

29 Jul 2013 21:12

The Flapper, Birmingham

Ventured here during the fine spell of weather we've been having as its a place i've never been. Was impressed. Granted its a student bar and its and makes no excuse for the fact BUT its in a lovely location, had several ales on tap, friendly staff, pool and plenty of space.
Defo worth a butchers when the weather is on form

15 Jul 2013 21:20

The Pie Factory, Tipton

Quite surprised with the fairly low rating on this one. Decent choice of ales (can never remember the names just drink em!) granted quite pricey though. Nice interior and exterior. Foot brilliant and fairly priced. Owner seemed sound asking we were ok and the staff behind the bar polite. Sky sports on in the bar area.

12 May 2013 18:34

Rose Villa Tavern, Birmingham

Update to my review posted a couple of years ago. The pub has been taken over by the bitters and twisted chain that runs a couple of other pubs in the town including the jekyll and hyde and the victoria. It keeps with the same philosophy of wacky interior and a great selection of beers (ales and cocktails.) The exterior has been kept the same which is great as its a impressive building but the inside has had a make over which is also very impressive. There's a area out the back to enjoy again with the wacky artwork and a small shed type structure you can go in to relax. If you like the pubs mentioned above i'd definitely recommend this one!

28 Apr 2013 20:21

Jekyll and Hyde, Birmingham

Great alternative type boozer tucked away down the bottom end of steel house lane. They have a good philosophy of keeping ales on tap while mixing it up with offerings of cocktails and a gin parlour upstairs. Its quite small inside but there is a great section out the back where you can enjoy a drink or have a smoke. To top it off the interior is littered with crazy artwork throughout. Definitely worth a look!

28 Apr 2013 20:08

The Horse & Jockey, West Bromwich

Nether the less still had a fine selection of ales on including the guest one i can't remember the name of. Its a lovely pub with a great exterior with a country feel to it. Staff always been helpful and friendly. When passing over that way i always make a point of popping in; no pun intented :)

7 Jul 2012 15:37

Ye Olde Leathern Bottel, Wednesbury

Very oldy worldy pub which is as impressive from the outside as it is inside. It was larger than expected. Food on offer and after looking around there seemed to be various events on in the week. Several ales on but memory a bit hazy of what they were. Chatty barmaid which helped the pub have a nice local feel.

3 Jun 2012 21:04

10 May 2012 11:13

Gosta Green, Gosta Green

Popped in on my dinner break from work and was happily surprised at the quality of this pub. Was informed it was a bit studenty but went in with a open mind. A nice large beer garden with a tv at the back. Would be ideal for summer months. Inside is nice and spacious with several pool tables. Seems to also do good food, although I didn't manage to catch the prices. The only downside was there were 3 ales ( EPA but can't remember the other 2) but non were available at this time. I think it was the general atmosphere that impressed me the most as was friendly but vibrant. Defo worth a look if in the area.

28 Apr 2012 00:14

The New Bulls Head, Stratford Upon Avon

Best pub we went in stratford all day. Speak as i find as the post below gives the place a bit of a bashing.

Very clean and tidy inside with some modern decor but keeping its very tradiotional british pub feel. The owner (whom i think is czech) was very friendly. As we were leaving we noticed another room with a tv and pool table with a large patio at the back. Love the location as well.

The Nags Head, Belgravia

What a find this was. Tucked away nicely from the hustle and bustle as soon as you step in you feel like you're walking back in time. Theres old music playing and old memorabilia everywhere. I reckon the landlord may have been an old war veteran. We sat downstairs where theres a big fire and again walls and ceiling covered with war memorabilia. If you get chance sit right at the back next to the big fire as theres a poem on the side of it. It sums the place up really. like stepping into another era. Found the owner friendly enough aswell. Defo my best pub in london so far
