The Barmy Arms, Twickenham

What a let down! I was here this week with a couple of friends. It was not majorly busy in the bar with two people waiting to be served in front of me. I waited to be served while 4 people who walked in behind me got served first. Then the 'barman' who looked like he'd just got out of bed proceeded to serve the 5th person who walked in after me, the customer politely pointed out I had been waiting a while. When I placed my order the drinks were being given in plastic tumblers. When I asked if he had glassess he grumpily said "no, if I had them I'd be putting everyone's drink in them"! Oh, I'm sorry I thought this was a pub! Beer in a glass?, in a pub? how dare I ask! I and my friends promptly turned around and walked out. Such a shame that this pub is in such a state. It's in a great location and feature wise is quite nice, but this member of the staff and the other member of staff on that night- girl with the green hair (yes green hair) who also looked like she had just got out of bed, need to go to the school of manners and have some training.

The Jolly Coopers, Hampton

I like this pub!
Has some local regulars and you'll get a few looks when you first walk in but eveyone minds their own business and you get no hassle here. Always made to feel welcome by the landlord and the beer is well kept. Nice place to go of a weekday evening for a few quiet ones! Has a great character about it that you can't find in other pubs in Hampton. Recommend it!

The Rising Sun, Hampton Hill

First went in here when taken over, looked great and the food was great. In fact I may even have posted a comment about it on here at that time some months back.
However, went back here recently one evening with friends and the food much different. The sausages and mashed potato: sausage tasted like it was cheap and nasty from a supermarket value range and the mashed potato tasted like it had been microwaved. One friend had a burger and chips and both tasted dry and the burger was tough. Also the area we sat in was very cramped and far too small for the amount of tables in that part of the pub.
Was asked three times in 10 minutes if our food was okay, which caused us to be even more concerned, was afraid to say anything due to some of the locals who were glaring from the bar area!
I suppose you could ask what do you expect for the prices of the food here, but I may as well have just got the same food from the supermarket and cooked it at home, it would have been cheaper and less hassle!

The London road, Twickenham

First went here a couple of months ago one Friday evening, walked in and thought it looked alright, then was short changed at the bar.
Thought it a genuine accident until my friend went up for the next round and he also got short changed. Had to go there for an event a little while after this and again got short changed! Another friend was in there one night last week and the same thing happened to him, the thing is he noticed (as did I previously) that they ring in a smaller amount into the till (say your round is 6.80, you give them 20 note, they enter that you gave them 10 in the till) then they actually hold back the extra change and wait until you notice and prompt them to give your change!!
Definitley a fix! Be very careful.

Duke of Clarence, Hampton Hill

Gone downhill rapidly. Used to be a nice little place to go for a few quiet beers and to avoid the local hooligans who used to frequent some other bars in the area however they now appear to be frequenting here. What a shame. We used to sit outside the bar and have a few beers of an evening or at the weekend but now if you do this you are normally seated near some loud mouth yobs (male and female!) who think it is humourous to swear at or make fun of people passing by. Very intimidating bar now and noticed yesterday evening when passing that they have changed the seating outside and put some kind of trees outside too- looks very strange. What is the Manager of this place thinking? Ruined what used to be a nice little pub.

The Rising Sun, Hampton Hill

What a change now that this pub has been taken over. Food is fantastic, cannot believe the value for money and it was genuinley home cooked! Nice atmosphere with pleasant and friendly staff. Definitley moved on from the time we walked in here around a year ago and felt that we were going to get attacked by the local thugs or deafened by the banging music! It's great to have a nice pub to go to in the high street now when so many of them are going hill rapidly in the area. Definitley recommend it and will be back again soon!

The Bell Inn, Hampton

Went here for the first time on Easter Sunday evening. Pleasant staff, nice decor, very relaxing. Went again last night (Friday) and it was lively and busy with a nice mix of people. Food looked and smelled great but we had just had dinner elsewhere! Will be back soon to sample the food though! Highly recommend this bar!
