The Dog and Duck, Soho

Nice traditional pub in the heart of Soho. Very small place and gets really crowded. Popped in last night for a couple, plenty of hand pumped ales to choose from.
My mate tried the one called "Vicious" and it really was horrible, but that is what you get for drinking something called that.
Good pub, well worth a visit

The Fire Stables, Wimbledon Village

There is a pretty decent kitchen here and it is well worth a visit for the food. The prices reflect the sort of pub this is, but are on the acceptable scale.

Where this pub real proves a winner though is in its wines, they offer a real good selection and unlike a lot of pubs if you want to buy something decent you can here. This is one of my preferred drinking spots in the Village, but it does get crowded.

Walkabout, Wimbledon

If you are on a year out in England and spend your time slagging of the crap weather not like back in Aus, then this is the pub for you. Absolutely awful for everyone else. You'll get more culture in a yoghurt than you would in this place.

The Hand and Raquet, Wimbledon

One of the better pubs in Wimbledon, the atmosphere is usually good in here and it feels like you are in a pub rather than some faked attempts that seem to clutter high streets these days.
The prices here are fair and I've found the service pretty good. It doesn't tend to get too busy so you're never waiting too long.

Overall a pub worth a visit

Lambourne bar & grill, Wimbledon

At last Wimbledon town has a proper bar. This is quite small place towards the end of the broadway. It is a grown up bar, nicely done out with lots of wood used. The drinks are as to be expected and priced at bar prices.
There is a restaurant joined to the bar which does pretty good food and the service is spot on. I would recommend the fillet steak but only if you are seriously hungry!
Overall this is a good bar and is slowly getting busier as people find it. I hope it continues to do well as Wimbledon has been crying out for this type of drinking hole for a long time.

The Telegraph , Putney Heath

This really is a country pub in the city - great location and sitting outside having a drink is what this pub is all about. Word of warning though the kitchen here is terrible! I don't know which kid is in charge of the kitchen, but they clearly can not cook. The sunday lunch was terrible, the roast potatoes actually tasted awful and it sat on cubed (out of the freezer) veg. For some reason the kitchen chap (can't call them a chef) had thrown in frozen peppers as well.... f-ing awful! The puddings are equally poor even though I think they were bought in - even the custard was only partially heated.

Drink here and enjoy it - eat here and you will regret it.

The Sun Inn, Barnes

Gets very busy on weekends with lots of people with small kids and babies. That said the food is decent and they have a good range of beers.
Not a bad pub and judging by the amount of Sunday lunches they do this place is certainly making some cash. Worth a visit if you can be bothered queuing up for a table.

The Ship Inn, Wandsworth

I've been to this place a few times and it is a good pub. The BBQ pushes out some good food and the restaurant is decent too. They have enough staff to make service pretty decent and there is a good atmosphere here.
The only real downside is getting to the place, unless you live around there then it is a real trek from everywhere. Still nice place and if you can be bothered or are in the area then well worth popping in.

The Wibbas Down Inn, Wimbledon

Really not a good example of a wetherspoons. The food isn't very good and the tables are often dirty and sticky. It is a massive place and is popular but that is more to do with the pricing I think. Some weatherspoons are good, some excellent, this unfortunately is on the list of poor ones

The Rose and Crown, Wimbledon Village

Shame about this pub, it used to have a good kitchen but over the last year it has really gone downhill. Last time I was in I order the ham egg and chips as have been disappointed with the other food I've had. I got one egg (fried till it was burnt), one piece of cheap ham and a few soggy chips. All that for almost 9.

It is a nice pub and the quiz is good, but they recently whacked the prices up so expect to pay 3.50 for a bog standard lager. Needs the management to take control of this place again and sort the kitchen and pricing out.

The Terrace, Wimbledon

This could be an OK bar but it really is just missing something. A large part of the bar is sectioned of for eating which is fine if they were full, unfortunately few people seem to eat there so you are forced to stand while over half the seats are left empty.
The cocktails are passable - but do not always contain the right ingredients... might be worth pointing out that a Mojito is made with White Rum not dark... and this is were the problem lies... the staff are so rude it is untrue. The look like they do not want to be there and generally give the place a bad feeling.

This bar could be good, but currently it just really isn't

The Gatehouse, Highgate

A really decent pub, complete with theatre upstairs! Good range of beers/wines/spirits etc and the food here is usually very good - they have a chef who can actually cook your steak how you ask for it. Overall a very decent wetherspoons pub

The King and Queen, Fitzrovia

A real old local style pub. Not one to impresive a new lady friend with, but if you fancy a couple of ok pints in a normal boozer then you can't go too wrong.

Ben Crouch's Tavern, Fitzrovia

This pub looks just like a ride at Alton Towers, really tacky "gothic" look, but it is kind of fun in there. The food and beer is perfectly fine and you can usually get a table at lunch time.
It is a good place to escape to if you find yourself on Oxford Street

Auberge, Waterloo

Not a bad place, the food upstairs is a bit hit and miss but the downstairs bar is pretty good. I have found the "French" staff a little bit rude, but no surprise there. Well worth an after work pint or two

Slug and Lettuce, Canary Wharf

Very expensive, cramped layout and moody bar staff. There is a toilet assistant every night, who expects you to pay him a quid each time you need a p*ss. Rubbish Pub, go to one of the many others round here
