The Vansittart Arms, Windsor

Sorry to see the last few comments. As someone who was barred for not putting his chair back, knowing someone who was barred because the barman fell over his dog( wasnt his dog) and someone else barred for falling asleep when actually he had had a mild angina I find this pub has changed tremendously for the better. Well done everyone there. Turning round the Titanic after it hit the iceberg!

The Highlander, Windsor

This is a nice pub but barred by CARAP the Windsorsoup
Campaign Against Renaming Ancient Pubs. Originally the Ship it was renamed the Court Jester. Acceptable even though renamed. There is a stained glass panel inside the entrance showing the Jester.
But naff now. If I go to Edinborough I want Scotland. If outside the castle there is pub called the Cockney Sparrer with barrel organ music playing nees up muvver braaaan I am being ponced about. Same here with heelander Och aye.

The Three Tuns, Windsor

I have been using this pub for years. Never found the staff rude etc. Beer fine and reasonable price.
But it is a pub for those who like to feel history. It stands near the Guildhall ( recent weddings of some people ,forget who) but there is a print from late 17th C showing Guildhall and Three Tuns, view hardly changed. And King George III knew the pub. The landlord makes the best purl in Windsor. Purl? Mulled ale with gin in it!

Crosses Corner, Windsor

I am the founder of CARAP.The Campaign Against Renaming Ancient Pubs. So this pub is really the Hope. It is opposite the Criterion. I think they used to name pubs after Victorian battleships as well as battles ( Alma ,Sebastopol) Keep the old names and boycott the changlings. Actually pub alright

The Greyhound, Eton WIck

Great pub. It is amazing considering that the pub is so close to Slough and indeed London that one can sit in the Greyhound having seen cows in the nearby fields and feel that you have enterd a pub in rural Devon
Nice staff , good beer and food and a felling of rural bliss
