Chequers, Walthamstow

This is my second choice of pubs in Walthamstow. Though not been in there for a while as it's changed hands more than I've had hot dinners but on my recent visit we popped in there & ate the Tai food in the restaurant part of the pub. Without a word of a doubt it is very well presented, tastes absolutely fab and considering that the rest of the pub leaves a lot to be desired, the waitress service and whole abience is something everyone should experience. I hope other people will agree with me once you try it out. Please let me know what you thought of it. I know that since we ate in there we have been recomending our friends to go there. Trust me, you too will be doing the same.

Bonds, Mayfair

Bonds. Sounds expensive, doesn't it? Well trust me it is. You will come out of there wondering where all your money has gone once the penny drops and you realise how pricey this pub really is. The bar staff have no idea on how to pour a pint of guiness. They just pour it to the top without allowing it to settle. Their pints are never quite full, leaving a good inch or two gap from the top. For three drinks, please don't hand over a tenner otherwise you will appear to be a skint flint.

Go in there on a friday & you will be surrounded by people dressed up in suits who think they've just done a day's work in the city. Probably more like a done a day's work in a department store.

It's a noisy & well over priced pub. You can do better by going elsewhere.

Trafalgar Tavern, Greenwich

I've been in this pub a few times. You need a fold up bike to get there mind you. As it's a bit of a long hike from the surrounding pubs around the Greenwich area. On a nice sunny day it's refreshing to sit outside & admire the splendid scenery.

The staff are very courteous whether you are local or tourist. The food appears to be very expensive though. 3.50 for a bowl of chips? Ouch!

This place is definetely worth a looking in.

The Gipsy Moth, Greenwich

Not a bad pub. They serve up some interesting brews in there. Checked out the strawberry beer. Very nice.

Seating area outside is nice (on a nice day) and the staff seem friendly enough.

The Gate Clock, Greenwich

This is a disappointing pub. Fancy paying for a round of drinks on your credit / debit card and not using chip & pin? You would imagine in this day & age that this is absolutely awful.

The food is nothing like the menu says. Please don't be eager to expect anything nice to come out of it.

The bar staff manners have a lot to be desired for. They are more interested in taking your cash than making you feel welcome.

I've been to many pubs in my time. And this one just ain't worth heading into unless you are skint.

Admiral Hardy, Greenwich

It's nice to walk into a pub where there are tourists & locals mixed in. The staff are friendly & though I never ordered, the food looked very appetising.

The Goose On The Green, Catford

Well this pub has a bit of charachter. The customers make the pub feel welcoming. The locals are friendly & chatty.

I didn't have to wait long for the food and it tasted much better than most places I've eaten out of.

It's refreshing to walk into a pub with english speaking people around you.

The Guildford Arms, Edinburgh

Being my first time to Scotland I liked the place. Compared with London, they had an extensive range of whiskies to choose from. I was impressed. Locals & staff alike appeared to be very friendly towards tourists. As opposed to our London counterparts.

The Old Jail, Cudham

Though it was a nice enough looking boozer, as it was Easter Bank Holiday I was rather sad to see that many of the lagers I ordered were not in stock.

Having eved dropped on the foul taste of the food from other customers, we were a bit weirey of ordering food. But we did & though it wasn't bad in wasn't what I would call good pub grub.

The Three Blackbirds, Leyton

I went there a few years ago & thought it was grim. Seems to be under new management now & though you can have a gud night in there, I found out that come closing time approaches, fights break out & you are advised by the bouncers not to sit near any windows due to flying bullets. Nice.

O'Neills, Leytonstone

Well someone has to like this place so I guess it's me. Late licence & loads of cabs outside to get home. Massive pub wiv lots of totty flying about. Great for a late night of boozing but only once in a blue moon, ok?

The Village, Walthamstow

Not a bad looking establishment. It's one of the few pubs in Walthamstow with a half decent beer garden. It's set in a nice location with some fine restaurants nearby. Great place to bring a gal on the first date. Good selection of lagers & the staff seem friendly enough. Quiz nights midweek are quite entertaining.

The Bell, Walthamstow

Beer prices are extortionate. 2.90 for a pint of stella? Holes in the seats? For a back street pub in Walthamstow it ain't all that. Best you go somewhere else.

The Victoria, Walthamstow

What a dive bar. Only people who go there seem to be p*&*sed from other pubs on a friday night, get up on stage & sing kareoke in thier worse voices ever. Also the staff appear very rude. If it's your first visit to the pub you will discover you get served last & the regulars get served first. I don't rate it all that.

Chequers, Walthamstow

Staff are friendly & you get a nice party crowd on a friday night. Friday nights appear to be better than saturday nights. Management are great people & respect is due. Toilets leave somewhat more be desired for but that seems to be the way in most pubs in Walthamstow.

The Goose On The Green, Catford

Commpared with other Goose pubs, staff were friendly & for a change thier mon-smoking area was larger than the smoking area. Though empty on a friday night at the end of a month when people get paid, pub has a nice atmosphere & I would recommend it.

The Goose, Walthamstow

On the positive side. Great location. Negative side? If you happen to have the misfortune of going to the toilet in this pub do bring your own toilet seat (no joke) & loo paper for good measure. Also piles of rubbish just outside the kitchen & in full view from the customers side is a poor example of food hygiene. Went in there on a friday night & was served a voddie & coke in a pint glass with no ice. Hurry up July 1. People smoke in non-smoking areas. Compared with west end prices great if you are really skint. Large short & free mixer 2.25? Compared with other pubs within walking distance, could be the best choice providing the staff were properly trained.
