Much better than the Woodthorpe Top (but so is every pub in Nottingham).
Not as nice a place to spend an evening as before the re-furb, but certainly a great place for a few drinks before heading out somewhere else

The Bread and Bitter, Mapperley
Nest drink in Mapperley.
Apart from lighting that's too bright and a lack of comfy seating, this is a nice place to spend a Saturday night

The Woodthorpe Top, Nottingham
A truly dismal establishment, I've been in 3 times and every time I've had to wait ages to be served, the beer was rubbish and the pub was full of tax dodgers!
The clientele spill out onto the street, drunk and swearing at people, there's always police in there dragging hoody wearing 'yoofs' out and i've not yet met anyone that likes the pub or thinks it's a useful addition to mapperley top...
It looks nice and could be nice, but instead it's a magnet for chavs
Avoid like the plague and go to the Bread and Bitter or Plainsman instead

The Wellington Inn, Colwall
Food was superb (dare i say the best pub grub I've ever had?), the staff were fantastic (offering to bring drinks over from the bar so your food doesn't get cold), friendly and replaced drinks for free when i up-ended a pint in a freak newspaper accident. Wonderful - if you need lunch, go out of your way to get here...
