The Old Post Office, Liverpool

Went there two weeks ago. Very attentive bar staff and interesting décor. No real ales but the Guiness was good. Handy to include on any pub crawl round town.

The Hobgoblin, New Cross

good pub with a welcoming atmosphere and being right opposite new cross gate station have missed a few trains because of the excellent beer. a mixed clintele when i've been there witha few pre match millwall fans mixing in well with the local student population from goldsmiths. tv screens to watch sport if you want to or just chill out over a pint with your newspaper. some pubs you can walk into and get a positive feel about. this is definitely one of them.

Ship Centurion Arminius, Whitstable

tried ths pub out as first time in whitstable and wasn't disappointed. great beers, friendly staff, chatty locals and and a larger than life landlord. they must have known i was coming cos they even put mmy favourite seafood out on the bar at lunchtime! if i lived in whitstable this would definitely be my local. was lucky they didn't do accommodation as i would have stayed there too! can't wait to go back. can you tell i'm a fan?!

The Woolpack, Brookland

went there last sunday and had a good bar snack and sat outside. opposite an old church the graveyards well worth looking around too if you get the chance.

Black Horse, Pluckley

warm atmosphere, pleasant bar staff and friendly locals. spooky things happened with a mobile phone while we were there. it kept turning itself on and off.

The Golden Lion, South Bermondsey

i don't mind scruffy but this was filthy dirty and probably the worst pub i've ever been in. i'm an ordinary millwall supporting bloke with no airs and graces but this place could seriously damage your health. forget mrsa bugs, the type of infection you'd get here are much worse. wipe your feet on the way out. scores 1 cos they sold beer.

The Bulls Head, Pratt's Bottom

found this pub by chance as was in the area. checked the good beer guide and paid a visit. what a welcome -the staff were great the guest beer was excellent. so much so decided to try the food. absolutely fantastic and they have lots of events, quiz nights, barbecues, theme nights....will definitely return.

The Anchor, Southwark

used to use this pub regularly 20 years ago. but what's happened? its turned into a fake beamed monstrosity with a totally out of character modern extension which has totally ruined it. a real shame.
won't be back!

The Spread Eagle, Croydon

one of my favourite pubs in croydon. excellent youngs and fullers on offer. and the chiswick bitter is one of the best i've tasted. a good pub to meet people too beacuse of its size and usually has football on tv one albeit quietly without being too overbearing.

The Toby Carvery, Redhill

agreed. the food is good and plentiful but has all the atmosphere of a john major pea pushing contest. go for the grub not the ale!

The Pilgrim, Caterham

soulless, sad and boring inside. have heard the food is ok but for the rest of it.....yuk!

The Ship and Shovell, Charing Cross

went there last friday 1st june. was really crowded outside but had plenty of staff working so getting served was a plaeasure and had gorgeous pint of badger beer.

The Highwayman, Sourton

went there last year. unbeleivable inside has to be seen to be believed. landlady was very friendly and the booze was good. worth taking a small divert to see.

The Sun, Redhill

went in last sunday. the food was ok but the staff were surly and uninterested. the girl behind the bar was away with the fairies and seemed to have no customer focussed training. still it was cheap beer and food!

The Valley, Caterham

Marvellous local. Friendly staff and customers. Good for food a game of darts, quiz nights and now they have just got a pool table!
Can be smokey but after July that will be a thing of the past so highly recommended.
