The Watermill Inn, Burgess Hill

Perfect locals pub. All the ales are great but its great to see the weekly change of the guest pump. Food has always been the normal pub standard. A place to catch up with old friends and faces.

Shame it gets too smokey if more than five people are at the bar. Friendly staff, customers and dog.

The Nell Gwynne, Southsea

Top quality pub. The best pint of HSB I have had in Pompey. 50p a go pool table and dartboard when its not in use. It can be a bit of a hit and miss pub as in the evening it becomes packed with locals and regulars, but in the day you are likely to find some fine characters.

Good prices and great barstaff although the venue gets very smokey in the evening. One of the nicest pub dogs as well, and even though the pub doesnt do food the best chinese I have had in a long time comes from across the road! Get your order in and have another HSB!

The Fifth Hants Volunteer Arms, Southsea

Find of the day with this great pub.

Fine ale and a fine venue with one part of the pub with jukebox (fine selection of tunes) and darts, then the quiter lounge for those who want a nice relaxing drink. Friendly staff and as already noted your bound to start chatting to someone random in here. Excellent pub.

The Fawcett Inn, Southsea

This gets points for the name and nothing more.

To add to the Fawcett Inn gags, theres also the Fawcett Inn Cider apparently.

Goose On The V&A, Southsea

At the prices they serve you can accept the horrific levels of smoke, which ruin the venue in the evening. Its a difference experience everytime, sometimes packed with one on the bar, sometimes the barstaff are queuing to serve you! Excellent prices for a preclubbing venue and also caters for people going to the theater across the road.

Food always looks great and if you can find a seat in the evening its a great place to start. Good mix of locals and students in the week.

The Registry, Portsmouth

Went in at the weekend and ordered a coke (pepsi) found it to be watered down and tasteless. Last time I went here was only because I had "won" a free pint of Stella... again watered down and tasteless.

Awful pub with no real drinks, but does cater for the student budget. Not too bad in the evening when there is some activity but only if you like your indie rock and lager.

The Hole in The Wall, Southsea

Range of ales excellent in this dark and cramped boozer, sadly thats much like the clientel when I went in. Camra sterotypes ahoy!

No atmosphere at all, though the barmaid was a friendly and the beer was fantastic. Interesting to see you can get your orders in pitchers as well!

A place for a quiet drink and nothing more.

The Trafalgar, Portsmouth

This is a very odd pub as during the day its a great place to go grab a bite to eat if shopping and the selection of drinks is very well priced.

In the evening it tries to be a after work, pre clubbing with loud annoying music. Its still a very nice venue with bars upstairs and downstairs and I do believe its all non smoking now, although it does lose a point for removing the great fountain in the gents which we were supposed to wash our hands in!

The Isambard Kingdom Brunel, Portsmouth

Great prices, ale and lager selection and good food. Its not just another 'Spoons its actually a fine place to go for food and a good drink, just dont expect a quiet sit down after work or if there is a student night about to kick off.
