The RSVP, Wimbledon

Well, you obviously take your job much more seriously than those on the night i was there. I therefore withdraw my harsh comments as posted previously, and am willing to give RSVP another go when next in Wimbledon. All the best.

butterbean88, yes i have worked in a bar before, but probably not as busy as RSVP, granted. We did have busy nights though where it would have been about the same.

The reason I was so harsh in my review is because it wasn't a busy period. If the bar was packed perhaps 4 or 5 deep then yeah, it's gonna be hard to know who was next and you just do the rounds.

But when there's only a handful of punters, and as a customer you're standing there and have been for ages, then you get skipped three times, it is just infuriating.

But what tipped it over, was the mucking around and the standing around by the barstaff. I mean, i know you gotta stock up straws etc. but surely you'd keep an eye on the bar, and see someone waiting there.

We were taught that when it's reasonably quiet, to drop non-important cleaning/stock stuff and serve customers. It's about being aware and paying attention.

There were others in our quite large group who were complaining at the time, but who's gonna be bothered to go onto the internet and complain about it?

The Selkirk, Tooting

richard and his team certainly give excellent customer service.

this is the best pub in tooting, bar none. yes, it's pricy, but that keeps away the... others.

food is always excellent quality.
quiz night is now back on thursday by the way.

well done guys, keep up the good work.

rsvp in wimbledon has the WORST customer service i have ever experienced whilst in london.

bar staff are unattentive, unfair serving order, and have a very 'don't care' attitude.

last night i had the unfortunate experience of going up to the bar two times, and both times i walked away extremely angry.

first: was quite early in the evening, and despite 4 bar staff and 5 customers waiting (me being the first to go up), two of them were mucking around, talking and flirting (i found out later, the female was the manager). do i get served first? no. then i catch bartender number 4's eye and am about to order when she looks around, shrugs, picks up two empty glasses and wanders back to the kitchen. bartender 3 then skips me and goes on to some other people, despite myself speaking up and saying i was next. meanwhile, bartender 1 is doing the extremely important job of making sure there are straws put out on the bar.

restocking straws, when there are people waiting at 8pm at the bar. this is infuriating. after he's done, he serves more people next to me.

second: my friend orders a drink, but the bar staff can't hear her (the music is extremely loud), so she speaks up a bit. then the bartender screams back "don't shout at me!"

5 minutes after we're back sitting down, security staff come to escort my friend out, for threatoning the bar staff.

what a joke.

shame on you, rsvp. train your bar staff properly. remind them that customer service is everything.

i won't be going back to rsvp. ever.

friendly staff and nice pool table.

The Old Thameside Inn, London Bridge

well, what a shame. upstairs seemed fairly good, but because we play pool, we were constricted to downstairs.

tables weren't clean, neither were the menus. nothing like reading a menu with crap all over it to get your appetite up.

food was a bit overpriced, but then again, it's central london.

no ales served downstairs? what? bit harsh.

also, staff weren't that accomodating. one staff member took our table number away before our food came (we had to get it back!) and he also insisted the tv in our area was switched on to the football, even though NO-ONE in our group wanted it on, and there was no-one else in the pub who could see the tv.

and the menu says 'comes with mayonaise and ketchup' on the platter we ordered, but none came. when we asked, a small tub of mayo was bought, but no ketchup.

unfortunately we had to retreat to a well known pub in southwark, and most likely will not return to the thamesside inn.

The Wheatsheaf, Vauxhall

Tanya on wednesday nights is great barmaid - always on tha ball and friendly.

the pool table here is one of the BEST i've played on. always a great bunch of locals to challenge.

toilets clean & smell nice = top marks.

a quiet pub with no trouble. good food (so i'm told) and an excellent drop is poured.

pool = cheap = happy.

stronly recommend.

The Kings Head, Tooting

definitely agree. the only good place to drink in tooting. the castle has gone downhill in a big way. there are lots of nice birds at the kings, both barstaff and punters. who was the new staff member with the benninton's shirt on last friday? damn!

The Jackdaw and Rook, Balham

very cosy. cool couches. foozball table good fun.

staff tonight were a bit out of it. took a while to attract their attention, even though was only one waiting to be served. one of them went off to clear tables without checking if anyone was waiting: v/annoying. they looked pretty young, perhaps they weren't fully trained yet. if so, important to watch your staff closely and get them to be more attentive. ashtrays and 8-balls behind the bar can wait. beer wasn't poured very well (was nice though)

love the artwork and atmosphere. will be back.
