The Shoulder of Mutton, Tettenhall Wood

Its reputed to have been 'saved' twice already,so its a "Use it or lose it" situation (remember Finchfield/casltecrofts pub The Chestnut).

It was a good enough pub in the 80s,(i think this pub was built to replace the old one on the same sight ?).
So its not an old one, maybe some of the Dog & Gun crowd could help by using this on route or returning from the woof Bang pub, also in Tettenhall.

The Bridge Inn, Brewood

nice location by the water, generally nice people too, nice for a drive out in the countryside too,King Charlie/Royal Oak/Cavalier/Roundhead/Chillington Hall/White Ladies Priory etc Historical area, not forgetting its not too far from the V-Festival at Weston Park either, also a few pubs close by - within easy walking distance,at least 4 & a club 2.

The Rock Hotel, Tettenhall

Two meals for the price of one ? 2 meals for the cost of the dearest of the 2 meals,is as good value as Bilbrooks Woodman Inn (where you have to fetch all your own beers, not like a year or so ago),its on a steepish hill so great if your walking home that way.

The Cross Gunns, Codsall Wood

Suss out the gaffers first, some unusual guys have run this place (Fire + Brimstone,Money prob's an' all),was expensive foodstuff, could be a good boozer (Juke box,Football Table machine,Pool Table,Live Newer Age singers,Footie Screens etc)could make a good country sports bar.
Good Gaffer & a lick of Paint/rendering & rear car park renovation & it could work quite well,it did in the 1970's 80s + 90s,why cant it again.
I think a New Gaffer is about to start there - Keep an eye out in the Pub press in late June & July '08.

The Codsall Station, Codsall

GReat as it was a former station Ticket office/Waiting room etc,i believe the architect had his hands tied quite a lot when designing this remodelling into a Public House,he still made a grand job of it though.
It's just a pity due to sometimes awkward parking (or lack of space to use)etc , i just wonder that if it had a bigger extension (instead of the pitiful one)on the building the site would then have matched the beers quality, nice for a quite daily pint etc ,can be a bit squashed sometimes in the evening, but its definately worth a punt,or maybe i mean pint!

Bentlands, Codsall

A nicer pub now, used to be known for failed wide boys & nancy boys or Ancient British dyed in the wool Conservatives & pretend Liberals (some Lib's later used the Wergs Crown pub),in the 1970's i went in for a swift pint & overheard a regular complain about a Condom machine being fitted in the loos - "It brings down the reputation of pub" Ha! i nearly spilt me heavy handled pint glass on hearing this, the local shopkeeper & Cleaning firm owner also raised a smile at my laughing antics or did they ?
Most of the 70's clientel removed their butts to the Codsall Con. club, which now also gets better custom as "The Firs",some of those old customers also mix in with the good lads at "The Station" bar close to the Codsall/Oaken borderline.
This Bentlands pub of Suckling Green Lane, improved by providing a drinking corner for a half decent footie team (or 2),it is a great littl pub now with a good enough lounge with good food & Proper Garden & a nice small bar too (unlike many a (Restaurant/Lounge bar),Much more normal people too - but, whats normal anyway?

The Wheel, Codsall

Re Stus.search.4.mild....
You wanna try getting a drink in there now - It's now morphed into about a dozen houses.
It closed a few years ago & was a good pint of Mild & Bitter through many a Licensee, later suffered in the hands of the '80s "Wine Bar" approach (did recover for a while),Many a non - Bilbrook/Codsall gang came to do battle here in the late '70s+ early 80s,weather it was a Punk/Mod's,Skin'ead,Psychobilly or Biking mob,
Most of the time it was a pub for a good pint & excellent crack of a laugh, the lack of Decorating & re-modelling,led to an eventual drop off in trade ,until it was close to closing, when the softie boys decided to try it again, the buffoons had left it too late & the charactors had also left by then,The Wheel Is Dead, long live the Grange (I jest with ye - why is that one still standing, its a Restaurant Bar now) Alas poor Wheel ,i knew it well!

The Dog and Gun, Tettenhall

I know this pub is gets busy around midweek & at Weekends, some people go for food, some for the midweek mature totty + also for younger class Totty at weekends too,not too sure about opening/closing times as its on a regular pubroute for our clan, though we usually end it closer to home (stupid Bus Timetable).
