Red Lion, Ealing

The last comment is certainly true, but the food at the Red Lion is miles better than that at the Rose & Crown and certainly worth the 20% extra..

Jerusalem Bar, Fitzrovia

Great place if you like really over-priced drinks, a bouncer ordering you to have your money ready and someone, who I presume was the manager, telling you off for being in the 'secret garden' when you've wandered through an open door to get there. Avoid.

The Sydney Arms, Chelsea

Seems like it's picked up since the last post. I was here saturday and found it a great little pub. Cosy atmosphere, nice crowd and Erdinger on tap :)

I'm told it use to be a bit of a dive, hence the low rating from before i suppose. The refurb appears to have changed all that, but without it seeming pretentious like most of the pubs I've been dragged to in this area!

Bradleys, Fitzrovia

Tiny, and usually rammed, but lots of character. Good selection of lagers, brilliant jukebox, and occasionally some attractive spanish girls hanging out. The toilets are terrible though, but maybe that's part of the charm.

The Blackbird, Earls Court

I agree with the food review from Feb 08. I ate there recently and it was dire. There's a few interesting locals/drunks that frequent the place though.

The Lamb Brewery, Chiswick

I agree with the last review, not sure where the low rating came from. It was sunny day when i drank here recently, they had a guy playing some acoustic songs and it was packed outside. Good atmosphere, would certainly drink there again.

T J Duffys, Northfields

Average pub, but not as bad as it appears from the outside. Annoyingly, locals seems to get priority at the bar so you might as well leave them to it and go to The Plough up the road.

The Plough Inn, South Ealing

Went to this pubs a few years ago and it was dire, was served chili that tasted, and probably was, dog food. Since the refurb it's much improved. Really good open-plan layout, the food is nice and they've got a great beer garden. Ok, so it's got the same wooden floors/chalk board refit as most places, but it's better than crap food and stained carpets.

Crown and Goose, Camden

Got a nice feel to it. It's either the decor or the big double-doors at the front, but it reminds of bars in Barcelona for some reason. Bit off the main Camden drag too, so has never seemed rammed when I've been.

The Lock Tavern, Camden

This place was nice last time I went, but found some rude bouncers and a one in, one out policy when I turned up the other night. Getting told off for wanting to find my mates in a pub isn't my idea of fun on Friday. Neither is queing, so we all went elsewhere. Shame it's got so popular, I'd avoid it on a Friday.

Old Orleans, Ealing

Does this tacky, burger joint count as a pub? I got caught there during works drinks after 9pm on a Friday night and it seemed to be full of blokes on the pull, but very few women. Very strange (and no, it's not a gay joint).

The Kings Arms, Ealing

I second all the previous comments. Went the other night and found a decent 'old man's' pub, the kind which seem to be dying out. Had a sleepy local feel to it, ideal for a quiet pint.

O'Neills, Muswell Hill

Great building and not too bad for an O'Neills

The Maid of Muswell, Muswell Hill

Good selection of lagers, shame they all cost about a fiver a pint

The Wheatsheaf, Ealing

A really good local. Relaxed crowd, friendly staff.

The North Star, Ealing

Great selection of continental lager and the onlt decent pub right on the Broadway. Does get a little packed at the weekend though and I only really enjoy drinking there in the week when it's more chilled.

Red Lion, Ealing

Probably the best pub in Ealing, though I'd agree with the poster below that the staff are a little surly sometimes. The landlord seems decent enough, but I always feel like I'm putting him out a bit. Howver, he's done a good job of providing meals without losing the 'local' feel of the place.

Wooden Walls of Old England, Collingtree Village

I haven't been since I lived in the village, but I'm told by my folks that they've got a new landlord and he's really done a good job making it popular again.

A great little pub that needs the support of the locals to keep it going. Small indside, with a beer garden to the rear.
