I disagree builditboy. We have started using this pub on a regular basis and it serves excellent Fullers beer with a good selection. There is usually a good crowd in which speaks for itself. The food is very good homecooked fare at a very reasonable price. Cannot fault the place its like being in a country pub in a town

Black Horse, Nuthurst

Lovely old pub but it had been painted a horible grey colour everywhere don't know why?
Very good selection of beer and the staff and locals are very friendly.
Food very expensive and it appears they are trying to turn this into a gastro pub.
All in all not a bad experience but not top of our list

The White Horse, Maplehurst

What a charming place. Plenty of real ales and a very good range of ciders and also lager. Like somebodys very cluttered front room which makes it so charming. Nic nacs everywhere. A barman that gives a good tale and banter. Didn't eat there but the menu although basic was very reasonable.
Will definately go back there.
My pertner and I loved it. There are not many unspoilt pubs left anymore. 10/10 to the landlord for this little gem

Windmill Inn, Partridge Green

Visited recently on a day out. Found it to be a very pleasant little pub with friendly staff and good beer.

The Dolphin, Betchworth

This used to be our regular haunt and we loved it with friendly helpful staff, good food and beer. The previous landlady went under a dark cloud and we went back whilst it was under temporary management and needless to say it went down a bit so we didn't go for a long time. We were in the area on the Jubilee weekend so thought we would pop in to see what it was like as we knew there was now a new permanent manager in place.
What a disappointment. The food prices had increased significantly and there wasn't much choice and what I saw come out to other customers didn't look very appetising. The beer was not very exciting either. There was a leaflet on the table advertising burgers as they had a barbeque in the garden and on the bottom was a footnote which read as follows "all our staff work 100% and during busy periods you can expect a wait of 45 minutes or more" What a ridiculous thing to say.If I go out for a meal anywhere I would walk out if I had to wait that long. Especially at their prices. The staff always used to be very happy in there but they were all really miserable and we were told that some of them had been sacked and others had left or were in the process of doing so. Youngs you need to get your act together as the locals have deserted this place in droves. I know there were issues with the previous landlady but the pub was thriving. Have you heard of the expression "If it aint broke don't fix it". We will not be going back there, shame because it really is a lovely pub. Shame on you Youngs.

The Plough, Leigh

A very friendly local pub with good food and good beer. A very warm welcome by the staff and the locals alike. Have been here about 4 times now and like it very much and will probably make it our pub of choice for the moment. Can't fault it.

I happen to know that a new landlord and landlady will be taking over this pub this week and they used to be where I currently drink and I can say the punters there are very lucky as they will get a good pint and very honest to goodness tasty grub from now on All the best Ange and Ron and good luck for the future

The Red Lion, Betchworth

Obviously nobody has reviewed this pub recently. It has been refurbed and not to a better standard. The decor is absolutely awful and all character has sadly gone. They still have the real ales and the food smelt good but is a bit pricey. Having visited here where we stayed for only one drink because it was not very friendly and the Dolphin just down the road, there is no comparison. I can't believe that this pub has a higher rating than the Dolphin which is fab

The Dolphin, Betchworth

Excellent friendly staff, reasonable food with good portions. Superbly kept beer with frequent changing of guest ales. Also excellent choice of ciders. The staff seem to be very knowledgeble about the beers too. All in all a very warm and friendly pub

The Royal Oak, Rusper

I could have had shandy and would have done if they had diet lemonade, because I am diabetic. But as I said, no diet drinks here. I find it very inhospitable not to cater for all members of the public as it is supposed to be a public house. Just my opinion. My partner loves the place.

The Star Inn, Rusper

What a lovely friendly pub. Excellent selection of drinks and fantastic food. The food is a bit pricey but par for the course in this area. The atmosphere is very warm and friendly with a warm welcome from all the staff.
Beer is served at perfect temperature. Its very busy so booking is recommended at weekends. Well worth a visit

Whilst I appreciate that this pub may be excellent for real ale drinkers like my partner. There was absolutely nothing for me as the designated driver. I actually ended up having to drink water from the tap as there was nothing there that I could drink and enjoy.
I am a diabetic so therefore I can only drink diet drinks however I was told that they do not have these drinks because they contain aspartame.
I have never encountered a place like this before and I have been in many pubs all over the southeast in the last few years.
They have no lager, no diet soft drinks, only real ale. I thought a public house was to cater to the publics needs.
It was not hospitable either as I was treated to a like it or lump it attitude.
