The Hayfield, Stepney Green

another one of the pubs that has closed in this area in the last 12months.
I have no idea what is going to happen to it, it is just boarded up.

New Ellistown, Coalville

Yes this is a good locals pub, though only one real ale available it was is very good condition and is obviously well looked after. The landlady and her partner are both very welcoming and yes it is also a very good b and b.

The Fentiman Arms, Kennington

Went on Sunday night after a day at the testmatch, they ran out of beer, and the staff have no idea what a pint measure is always coming up well short and having to get the glas topped up.

The Jolly Gardeners, Vauxhall

Went there on the Thursday night after play at the Oval test. with friends. Found bar staff friendly and helpful to cricket fans a little worse for wear.
Had a good selection of German beers some not too fizzy. Only thing it was a very quiet night with a high percentage of German families among the customers, so asume this pub must be busy on weekend , just a bit to qiet like anempty barn.

The Grey Derby, Kennington

this pub is definitely not closed so please change the web page for it.It is still a strange pub with a sense of claustrophobia because of the long narrow room. Which heightens the feeling of not being welcome. But the eal ales are usualy in good condition.

The Rye Pub, Dining Room and Garden, Peckham Rye

SO what is wrong with you Jezb/Johnpublic are you straight out the Maudsley then, not taking your medication is that it.This is a pub for locals people like me born in SE Londo 50 years ago, the one thing I agree is that the beer is expensive for the Peckham area. But I can also say I have never had a bad pint there. As far as food goes it is on the whole good, last summer they did have some problems but it has picked up since then. The other night had som wonderful pan fried Duck.

The Crabtree, Hammersmith

Went there saturday 20/10/2008 for the fulham v derby game, have to say found the pub friendly and itis good that it was mixed supporters on the day. The london pride was ok and the young lady serving me friendly. I do not under stand some of the adverse comments about this place.Did not try to order food but would not in any pub packed with football supporters asking to much of any place to supply food quickly.

Soma, Stepney

IT is now closed.

Royal Staff, Aldershot

This pub in an estate and as you approach you think not to prepossessing, but you would be wrong. It has a really well kept interior predominatley in wood and the garden is inviting to smokers and non.
The landlord and wife friendly and willing to chat, similarly as a stranger I found the few regulars friendly as well this was about 6pm in the evening.
The london pride was excellent the landlord realy knows how to look after it.
This pub a good place for a small group of mates loking for a pint in Aldershot.

The White Horse, Peckham Rye

went there with a friend on sunday, the flowers ipa real ale well looked after, and as usual one the best traditional sunday lunches in a pub in london, the shank of lamb perfect.
Have to say the revamp last summer also makes this a more attractive pub than before.

The owner and staff always friendly and ready for a chat. The place is also good for televised sport

The Boleyn Tavern, Upton Park

Shame about the beer does not do any, and the slow service a good 5 minute wait for some one to appear, but punters seemed ok and decor good.

The Queens, Upton Park

This is the classic example of the east end dive, when inthere at 5;30 in evening and already the middle age drunk at one end of bar wanting to have a go at every one.The rest of the other clints looked like they had spent the day on can of Tennants extra strong before going to the pub. I also advise do not look at the seats before sitting down, hate to think what the stains were.

22 Mar 2007 14:02

The Bancroft Arms, Stepney Green

The real ale promised is never on, this may be because the old codgers would die if they got near it.
Staff seem disinterested, a pub dying on its feet/ zimmer frame.
