The Canon's Gait, Edinburgh

Came back her after a 3 year absence and not sure about the change!
Used to come here after a night out for a few whiskies as the bar staff knew how to guide you!
Last night the guidance was to point at one whisky menu stuck on bar!
Does look very well updated but can't see what's been gained!

The White Swan, St Albans

Back to being a good honest town centre pub with good food and a good range of drinks! Some regulars are a bit rough round the edges but they don't bite and are sometimes quite amusing.
Oscars indeed!

The Six Bells, St Albans

Couldn't agree more about children in pubs like this. There is nothing for them to do they must be bored rigid.
The pub is far to small to accommodate push chairs and the other things that kids need.
Surely somewhere like a Harvester that caters for children are more appropriate.
This pub is consistent with its quality and service and it will be a shame when Jo and Patrick are gone.

Barney's Bar, St Albans

What has happened to this place. Spend some money on it. Buy a new sound system thats not very noisey in one part of the pub and quiet in another. Why is it so dead in threre on a friday night? All the different bars that have previously been here have been busy all weekend (Scotts, Slug and O'Neils). Maybe it's time for a change. On a positive drinks are a reasonable price and foods ok. Unfortunatly it is no longer a comfortable place to drink.

The Peahen, St Albans

Is it me or do they consistently give short beer measures in this pub. I have mentioned it to the staff a few times as I still like the place but every time my pint seems to be significantly short. The staff have been give the training on how a pint should be 95% liquid an 5% head but in the glasses they use if your are getting a few drinks by the time the last drink is pored, the first looks like someone has been supping it already.
I do like the pub and I have been going there many years but this just looks a bit pathetic and tight.

Blue Anchor, St Albans

Not been in since recent change of owner, however the other coment are concerning. This pub has a fantastic position, garden etc. How can no one get this pub right when The Six Bells a mere stones throw away ticks all the boxes.

Blue Anchor, St Albans

Well popped in to this newly refurbished establishment. I had 2 Lagers after a stressfull day they were cold, fizzy & export strength. The staff were attentive the prices were as per usual St Albans prices. Job done! For the people who fear change do you want to see cock fighting back at the Fighting Cocks or under age teddy boys having a bundle the Crystal Palace. What about the Italian Restaurant which used to be toilets should we be appealing for those be changed back to good old urine smelling places where you are free to take heroin? You know for the sake of the locals.
The old pub was worn out it now has a new lease of life. If it doesnt work out for the new owners sa la vie. You still have loads of good pubs around for beer lovers. The real crime for me is the Mile House. I would not care if it was a gastro pub it would be the nearist pub to me but it has been illeagally knocked down which has really upset the locals.
