The Magpie and Crown, Brentford

Brentford's swimming in good pubs, due to the proximity of fuller's base, but this one takes the crown for me (sorry for the pun!). If beer quality matters to you (lager and ale) this is your place; a huge range of stunning beers, well-kept by like-minded beerlovers. Their good taste extends to the taped music (old classics 1 mindless chartpap 0) and the thai kitchen. They've even commendably resisted the urge to refurb, redesign and restyle all the personality and individuality out of the pub (are you listening, landlords of most chiswick pubs).
In the 2 years I have been working in brentford, I have realised that the only good thing about this locale is the pubs, and this and the Globe are best-of-breed.

The Waterfront, Streatham

to the waterfront management;
guys,
you are a pizza-bar, and it is something you do very well.
Every pizza I have had there has been excellent.
So why the sunday roasts? daft idea. bit like watching a rugfby player attempting to tap dance.
the roast was poor; stick to what you know

The Magpie and Crown, Brentford

beer lovers heaven! excellent range of real ales and lagers, plus passable thai grub, friendly bar staff. an old fashioned good 'un. please DON'T 're-design' the pub, or tart it up in any way: if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

The Railway, Streatham

wonderful place, and I'm not just aying that cos I live 1 minute away! terrific beers (staropramen etc), well kept, friendly and charming staff and a sunday roast to die for. The table service is a charming touch and the angusburger packs a hell of a punch. beer garden could do with a refurb.
