The Mortimer Arms, Bloomsbury

Now changed appearance and name to Fitzrovia Belle.
Yet another attempt at a gastro pub with ludicrously over priced beer. 4.30 for a green and cloudy pint of Doombar!!!
I am not normally a price whinger but for Doombar? A 4% session beer they have got to be taking the piss.
This is one occaisional punter who will NOT return.

The Harp, Covent Garden

Since becoming free of tie this fantastic little pub has just got better and better. From the constantly changing range of local-ishly brewed real ales, always in peak condition, the range of real ciders and perries that would put many a small CAMRA beer festival to shame, to the excellently priced good quality sausages in a bun. What could make my new regular even better? Simples- the staff! It's a tiny pub with a phenomenal customer throughput, how 3 or 4 people work so closely, often serving two or more linters at a time is nothing short of an education and is certainly entertaining at times, not only does everyone get what they want quickly, efficiently and with a smile. They also know the stock, so if you're undecided you will be guided and offered a small taster.
The only thing that should put you off visiting is if you are claustrophobic, it gets very busy and rightly so, the alleyway to the rear and pavement out front make generous overflow space when needed especially in good weather anytime of year.
No I don't work for Binny, the landlady, but I think it's certainly up there and deserving of CAMRAs National Pub Of The Year!
Cheers all staff and customers
Wassail to the ciderheads

The Cwellyn Arms, Rhyd Ddu

A comment from an anonymous aquaintance:
the pub is run by a miserable bloke- hates locals, overcharges wildly for his beer - central London prices - but is always in the CAMRA book because they have their AGM there - free beer and dinner - funny that'

Apparently he had one lager on at nearly a fiver over christmas'

Doesn't give a monkey's - reckons he has enough customers faling off snowdon knackered and thirsty every day - doesn't need repeat business'

The Red Lion, Isleworth

I will be holding another cider making demonstration at this most excellent of pubs on the Saurday and Sunday 29th and 30th of October. Possibly even a perry this year.
Last year's production was a great success with all concerned attending the tasting session on the 10th of June trading in thier share certificates for as much or as little of the cider as they wanted. The remainder was sold at a very modest 2 a pint with the proceedds going to charity. I'm not sure of the arrangements this year but I am requesting that anyone with excess apples and/or pears please bring them along.
Another very successful Solstice beer festival as well.

The Half and Half, Croydon

I went to Croyden after work on Good Friday, arriving shortly after noon. This was my first visit to Beer Circus. I was more than a little concerned as I approached the door as there was nobody in there. Then a little girl and her mum noticed me peering through the window, so I went in, they were open.
Phew!
I had a couple of real ales, pulled through before being drawn for me, always a good sign that they care for the beer and the customer.
I didn't bother with the Grand Union beer as I know it so well. I didn't try the two ciders either for the same reason. So it was staright onto the bottled Belgium and Netherland beers, a fine menu, with plenty of choices. I think, note think that it was after 5pm before I moved onto the greater than 6%ers, by this time the place was filling up nicely with a mixed aged group of people clearly knowing where they were and why.
Unlike Xandman I thought the prices very reasonable, 2:20 for a British real ale, apart from JDW's pubs a very reasonable price for Greater London. The bottle prices seem to be standard for ease, so if you have a 25cl bottle of 5% stuff then it is a little expensive, but 6 for a 75cl I consider cheap, especially compared with the likes of Belgo & Lowlander. The portion of salami I enjoyed was considerably more substantial than the slivers of microtomed meat I was expecting.
By the time I left for the train, the streets were already overrun by the drinking frenzied mobs outside the circuit pubs.
Thank heavens for establishments like Beer Circus.

The Triple Crown Inn, Richmond

Nice little back street local, four handpumps serving beer the way the English are supposed to like thier beer. Warm & Flat. But at least not vinegar this visit, unlike last time I ventured here.

The Coach and Horses, Kew

Good pub, good beer, but very smokey. This is despite what appears to be a state of the art air management system with vents spaced throughout the bar area. It is a shame it didn't appear to be switched on!
Beware the biltong 2:50 for a tiny bag.
Seriously let down by the air quality. 5/10

The Brewery Tap, Brentford

I agree with other comments posted, however there is one really anoying thing about this fine Fuller's pub. The landlord, he is a whistler with a short attention span. So if you want a quiet read or wish to concentrate on a crossword, etc this may not be the pub to choose unless you like listening to 10-15 second snatches of tunes. Beer is great though.

The Royal Oak, Hampton

Nice locals pub, freindly natives, 3 handpumps (1 London Pride, 1 Green King Speckeled Hen and an untouched Courage 'best'.
Slightly overwhelming odour of air freshener when you enter the place, but once your brain learns to ignore it is not that bad.
Visited on a football night. Very large screen for such a small pub.
It almost retains a seperate public bar.
