The Fox, Hanwell

This could be a very good pub, but my girlfriend and I were treated with the most appalling rudeness when we paid a visit on Sunday. We sat at virtually the only table that wasn't reserved for lunch, but after ordering a few drinks and something to eat, we were asked to move as there was another couple waiting for lunch. There were no other tables inside, so we were told to go to the "shed" outside, that was apparently, heated. However, this was full of smokers, and my girlfriend is asthmatic, so the only option we were left with was sitting outside in the cold on a chilly November day!! Possibly, we surmised they objected to out appearence amongst what was quite a well-to-do middle class crowd (I have long hair/earings and my girlfriend has purple-blonde hair and multiple piercings), but do the management of The Fox really believe this is an adequate way to treat paying customers, whatever they look like?

The Old Coffee House, Soho

One of my favourite bolt holes in Soho. Has a really cosy feel, and the beer is always good. Staff are pretty friendly too.

The Horse and Well, Woodford Wells

Essentially a creche that serves beer

Westward Inn, Ivybridge

Beer not bad, decent location, but for a pub that looks like it does food in a big way, it was distinctly mediocre. Unoriginal menu, involving mainly roasts and steak and kidney pie, which was a truly bizarre creation, served with vegetables with no hint of seasoning. Definately quantity over quality. Might fool, the old biddy crowd, but not me!

The Ship Inn, Noss Mayo

Had lunch here with my dad yesterday - thought the food was really superb - beer is good too. Only thing that irked me was having to queue for 15 mins to pay, which seems stupid when the cheque is brought to your table. if you are eating they won't bring bar drinks either. Not that that should spoil a very pleasant experience. Watch the tide though!!

The Pembury Tavern, Hackney

This place impresses the hell out of me. It's a brave move to open a non-smoking pub with only real ale (and Budvar) on draft in the middle of Hackney. Its always spotless, and the food is really good. Best thing is the quality of the beer - first class. I really hope he succeeds with it, but it needs to be supported.

The Duke of Cambridge, Islington

Nice pub, the organic vibe is to be commended, but they are taking the piss with the prices. Drinking in here is very expensive.

The Duke of Argyll, Soho

I love this place as it is a nice quiet oasis in the madness of Soho - beer is good - all the usual Sam Smiths offerings.
