oh dear.... it's gone down hill once more. a new manager has arrived who hope to improve the pub by letting us regulars play Bingo on a Sunday evening. If customers wanted to play Bingo they would visit a bingo club where the prizes, ambience and the food are better!

The new landlord needs to sort this place out before the summer customers arrive in their droves. Can the new people run this seasonal site? Watch this space.................

oh dear. the refurb has gone SO badly wrong. Cricket stuff everywhere.... the lighting, the fencing outside, the signage. It looks like a Marvel comic out-take. When we visited the Bar staff asked us not to sit at the bar! When challenged we were told this was to ensure table service would not be compromised. This may be true but do you need to really need to implement such a policy when we were 2 of the six customers in the pub??

The manager on duty, young lad mid 20's would not move either. Why?

The beer was ok, the AK was iffy with lots of yeast in my glass!

On a positive note, the pub no longer pretends to hold Cask Marque status as indicated by the removal of the plaque outside!

Yes, this pub is the place to be in the summer months when (if) the sun shines.

True, the place does get busy but the bar is so small there is no space for any more staff to work behind it! I've spoken to the Landlady there who tells me that the Outdoor bar and BBQ helps to cut waiting times down.

The grass is the garden does get thin and patchy in the summer. I wonder how long many of the reviewers on this site would last if 350 people walked all over you on a sunny day.. food for thought???

Very much a summer pub but we regulars support the pub all year round, it's due to be refurbished in September the staff tell me, looking forward to seeing that.

Never had a bad meal in here either, if it's busy with food the staff give you a good idea of wait times - what can be fairer than that?

Tne new manager in here has done wonders for the place in only a short time of being there. Gone are the pool tables replaced with comfy leather sofas and an open fire just in time for the cold weather coming. The conservatory has had all the wood replaced and is looking good.

Lots of space to sit down and have a leisurely meal with lots to choice on the menu. When we visited there was a curry night, 3 course special meal and fresh sunday roast dinners on offer which was good value given that it's all freshly cooked.

The staff who served us were warm. friendly and happy to be there. The real ales we had (a choice of 3) were kept just right on taste, temperature and presentation.

We'll be back for more no doubts about that.
