The Foy Boat, Ramsgate

Now sadly closed.

Conqueror, Ramsgate

CAMRA South East Super Regional Pub of the Year, so SOMEONE must think it's the real thing!

Conqueror, Ramsgate

Kent CAMRA Pub of the Year 2012.

The White Hart Inn, Hawkwell

Very friendly pub with well kept ale and good food. The hot beef baguette was excellent. And, if you think 3.30 for a 5% beer is expensive, I suggest you take out a bank loan and go to Broadstairs.

The Old Wine Vaults, Faversham

Friendly welcome and well kept ales. Always an enjoyable experience.

16 Jul 2012 20:55

The Phoenix Tavern, Faversham

Somewhat more successful than my last visit - there was actually someone there to serve us today. Nice drop of Harvey's in very pleasant surroundings.

16 Jul 2012 20:53

The Sun, Faversham

I had the burger, Mrs S had the ploughman's, both of which were very good. The ale was well kept - Samuel Adams Blonde Ambition (brewed by Sheps) and the service unobtrusive but efficient.

The Anchor, Faversham

Planned to have lunch here today but sadly, after making our way through the smokers in the porch and avoiding a large dog roaming around in the bar, we found no-one to serve us and, having waited two or three minutes, we left.

Crabtree, Hemel Hempstead

Interesting range of ales including (on a recent visit) Purity and Rebellion breweries. Good, reasonably priced food and friendly, helpful staff.

2 Jul 2012 19:20

Crows Nest, Tring Hill

One of the better Beefeaters. Well kept ale (if a little on the cold side) and stunning views over the Chilterns.

2 Jul 2012 19:15

The Opera House, Tunbridge Wells

I can only speak as I find and I thought this 'Spoons was one of the best I've visited. Friendly, attentive staff, well kept ale and a great steak in pleasant surroundings.

The Phoenix Tavern, Faversham

Walked into this pub at 1.45pm on Monday. No sign of anyone behind the bar. Waited. Walked out at 1.49pm still thirsty.

28 Sep 2011 10:11

Harveys, Ramsgate

Now re-opened as the Mariner's Bar

8 Aug 2011 08:43

Victoria, Margate

Pub closed. Building for sale.

5 Aug 2011 07:56

Belgian Cafe, Ramsgate

8.50 for two small Belgian beers, not even served in their correct glasses. They're taking the p155!

5 Aug 2011 07:54

The Old Oak, Sittingbourne

Now re-opened as an alehouse, serving 3 real ales and 1 real cider, all served by gravity behind the bar. I tried the GK London's Glory and Fuller's ESB and both were in excellent condition. No music or big screens, just the gentle hum of conversation.

29 Jun 2011 10:11

Southwood Tavern, Ramsgate

Even sadder, it burnt down the night before last.

16 Jun 2011 16:04

Harveys, Ramsgate

Currently closed.

6 Apr 2011 10:02

The Harp, Covent Garden

Have visited twice now and, on both occasions, the service, beer range and beer quality were all excellent. Good to see them advertising the Thanet CAMRA Easter Beer Festival.

29 Mar 2011 09:57

The Captain Kidd, Wapping

Good ale, nice atmosphere and a great view of the Thames. Mrs Skatalite's favourite London pub.

29 Mar 2011 09:52

The Town of Ramsgate, Wapping

Nice pub with friendly staff, good food and well kept ale.

29 Mar 2011 09:49

The Dove, Bethnal Green

Great beer range, particularly the Belgians; excellent beer quality; good service (Monday afternoon); disgusting toilets.

29 Mar 2011 09:46

Wellington, Margate

STILL CLOSED!

27 Jan 2011 08:52

The Bull, Horton Kirby

Visited this pub for the second time on Saturday and, although my first visit was a year ago, I was greeted like a regular and the beer was, once again, on top form. Simply cannot fault the place.

15 Jun 2009 14:18

The Butchers Arms, Herne

Excellent ale, fine company, good conversation. What more do you need from a British pub?

8 Jan 2009 22:31

The Horse and Jockey, Aylesbury

Friendly staff, good pub food and three real ales. Service was good even when busy. Best "pub-attached-to-a-Premier-Inn" that I've experienced.

10 Aug 2008 19:18

The Unicorn, Cublington

An outstanding pub with a friendly welcome, superb selection of real ales and fantastic food. The lamb dumplings were amazing!

10 Aug 2008 19:03

The Vulcan Hotel, Cardiff

Fantastic time-warp pub now dwarfed by tower blocks and very much under threat. Excellent Brain's beers, friendly staff and a good mix of clientele. Try it while you can.

2 Jun 2008 23:17

Goodbarns Yard, Peterborough

Friendly pub with good beer and some great speedway pictures on the wall.

10 Jul 2007 12:03

The Brewery Tap, Peterborough

Great pub, great ales, great food, but why do they refuse to serve Northern beers through a sparkler? The reply "if the beer's in good enough condition it won't need one" is unacceptable. It's surely a matter of the customer's personal taste.

10 Jul 2007 11:58

The Artillery Arms, Ramsgate

I had the pleasure of presenting the Thanet CAMRA Pub of the Year award to the Arty last night and thoroughly deserved it was too. The Stanier 5 was excellent, as was the Gadds' Seasider and Mrs Skatalite liked the Specials (Youngs and Archers, that is, not those Two-Tone impostors from the eighties).

As my incorrigible friend the 5th Earl has often said, it was not broken and therefore didn't need fixing.

3 May 2007 13:25

The Full House, Hemel Hempstead

This place should be closed. Police were in four times on my last visit, food was awful (the few items that were available, that is) and the beer was barely drinkable. Worse than the 'Spoons in Margate and that's saying something.

22 Nov 2006 09:44

The St Lawrence Tavern, St Lawrence

Well kept real ales (with an imaginative selection of guests), great value bar food and an excellent restaurant. Interesting old pictures of St Lawrence and Ramsgate adorn the walls.

30 Aug 2006 15:13

The Railway Medina, Newport

New licensees have recently taken over. Only Deuchars IPA on when I visited but in good form. Great display of Isle of Wight Railwayana too!

30 Aug 2006 14:04

The Hussar, Garlinge

The whole family had a superb Sunday lunch here recently, accompanied by some excellent London Pride. My mother is wheelchair bound and Rennie and his team couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating.

10 Aug 2006 11:47

The Will Adams, Gillingham

Thoroughly enjoyed my first visit (especially the cider) and it won't be my last.

10 Jul 2006 13:13

The Halfway House, Brenchley

Excellent range of Real Ales and a locally produced cider as well!

10 Jul 2006 13:09

The Swan, Hampton Wick

Comfy sofas, bare floorboards, good pub grub and very well kept Shepherd Neame beers.

10 Jul 2006 13:04

The Vine Inn, St Helens

Now under new management (April '06). Great ale, good, honest pub food (try the Steak in Ale pie) and a wonderful collection of breweriana.
