The Kentish Horse, Mark Beech

Visited this pub with my family last Sunday on the basis of the recommendations on this site. Very pleasant all round. I had a pint of Harveys which was excellent. We all ate and everyone was more than satisfied with what they ordered. The roast beef was as good as I have had anywhere. Nice garden which will be even better in the summer I'm sure, and a good long walk at the rear of the pub to help walkoff all the excess alories! Staff very obliging too. We will definitely be paying the Kentish Horse another visit.

Postal Order, Crystal Palace

I am in two minds about this pub. It undoubtedly deserves its Cask Marque accreditation as the cask ales are excellent, with plenty of choice. I always finish up with the Directors which is particularly good in here. BUT it is a Witherspoons pub at the end of the day with all that that brings! Some staff OK but others surly. OK for a couple of pints.

The Royal Albert, Crystal Palace

Proper old-fashioned boozer with good and reasonably priced cask ales. Unrivalled views of London from the front.

The Harp, Covent Garden

I have worked within half a mile of this pub for over twenty years but have never been in until last week - driven by the consistently good reviews on this site. I'm jolly pleased I did! The quality of the cask ales was excellent - as many others on here have described. But the pub is slightly a victim of its own success being uncomfortably busy until the quick-pint commuters started to leave at about seven o' clock. The service was fine in the circumstances and the staff (all female that night incidentally) were pleasant enough.

The Malt Shovel Inn, Eynsford

This is a great pub. The cask ales were in great condition with the Moondance being particularly toothsome. Good atmosphere and friendly staff all of whom were able to comment intelligently on the beer. But the food was average at best.
