The Sports Cafe, Haymarket

Made a mistake on saturday in arranging to meet friends in here. 5.00 entrance fee to sit on filthy seating and a free drink (WKD = disgusting). Bouncers were throwbacks to the 1980s, no common sense, no smiles, just boring and boorish. Rip-off beer too. Best avoided.

The Captains Cabin, Piccadilly

Visited on Saturday to meet friends and watch the Scotland v England rugby. Great atmosphere, not overcrowded but busy. Good food. London Pride excellent and at 3.75 not overpriced for Central London. Recommended.

Voted Pub of the Year and well deserved. Visited yesterday - quite busy for the time of day. Doom Bar was excellent followed by an excellent meal - good value and fantastic quality. Well done Debbie & staff!

The White Hart, Kennington

Let me say first of all that I visited this pub for a private function upstairs but I found that the Doombar was excellent. No bitter on upstairs but the barman went downstairs to fetch me a pint whenever I requested it. Great service. Food provided was excellent as well. Well presented, fresh cooked and very tasty. Pub downstairs was busy and the food looked great as well. Good toilets - clean and well equipped. Very impressed with the staff - hard working and keen to please. I'll be back...

What a shambles. Ice cold Speckled Hen followed by an awful pint of London Pride. Beer is just not looked after. We ordered food at 1.15 and it took 20 minutes for the staff to tell us there was no more gammon so we had to change our order. Fish and chips arrived at 2.15pm - fish undercooked and chips cold. Staff don't seem to care. Pirbright is quite rightly embarassed by having this shambles of a pub on their village green. Please buck up or move out!

Remebered this pub from a few years ago and wandered in for a pint ~ and found a sanitised warehouse masquerading as a pub ~ no decent beers on, so I just wandered out again and went to the Cricketers. What a shame - great location, crap pub.

The Royal Oak, Wood Street

Blimey - a pub landlord who knows how to look after and serve proper beer. A rarity these days. Great range of ales and good food as well. Always worth the trip.

The Hunters Lodge, Woking

Somewhere between poor and appalling! 5 years ago the service was awful so we never went back but after refurbishment and new management we went back today for a special occasion. Wish we hadn't bothered. Starters were ok but then over an hour's wait for main courses which arrived under cooked (steak and fish) and over cooked (all veg). Poor presentation of food and serving staff who didn't appear to care less about customers. No apology forthcoming. It'll be longer than 5 years this time - probably never!!!
