The King of Denmark, Islington

This is my new favourite pub, in the entire world ever. I was on first name basis with the owner by the time I left - everyone in there is super friendly. It's a proper pensioners local, which is exactly why I loved it (I'm 26) as everyone is more than happy to chat. It's full of great kitsch British memorabilia and it reeks of Character.

It reminds me of the pub out of EastEnders, I witnessed a man walk in and the barman pull his pint for him without even asking - it's that kind of Local.

Go down and check it out, but don't tell too many people about this place otherwise it'll loose it's charm.

Oh, and they have a huge darts team that is normally here. They love their darts in here.

The Albion, Barnsbury

Changed hands recently, new management. The food seems a LOT better + better priced than before. Defintely a nice 'local' pub. It's just down the road from me, I'd keep going back if the drinks weren't at Central London prices (although it is in posh/expensive Islington)

The Maple Leaf, Covent Garden

As an Australian, I love this pub. It's never overly crowded so as you can get a seat. The Molsen Dry (on tap!) is a fantastic lager, better any of the Stella/Fosters rubbish. The food is good, make sure you try out the puteien (not sure how to spell it, it's the chips + cheese + gravy, a typical french canadian dish). Stay away from 'Ceasers' it's a drink similar to a bloody mary - except they use 'Clamato' juice, disgusting!

Great vibe, good + friendly staff. Skip the walkabout people, go straight here. Bring back the NHL!

I rate this pub highly due to the vibe, and mostly friendly people that frequent it (yes I have met some Canadians in here!)
