The Little Driver, Bow

My local, ok I'm a bit biased but I like it .

Tony is doing his best with it, the beer is good, the staff are good ... What's not to like

23 Apr 2017 00:21

The Hogshead, Hornchurch

Now called the suttons arms , haven't been in since the change but looks good

17 Mar 2013 19:57

The Bow Bells, Bow

Recently moved to the area , having driven past this pub I thought I'd give it a crack , been in at various times of day and can't really fault it , bit pricey but does for a quick point

17 Mar 2013 19:51

Cherry Tree Tackle, Rainham

Now a tesco last time I was back in the old manor, shame because that had been a pub for as long as I can remember and I spent all but the last 3 years of my life in that area ... Another proper pub gone

13 Nov 2011 00:44

The Anchor, Chelmsford

Popped in with a couple of regulars for the first time a few weeks back, this pub has everything I want and need in a pub , fruit machine , pool table , arcade game and pinball .

The staff were very friendly and so were the rest of the locals I met

Only drunk lager and didn't really look to see what other drinks were on offer , wasn't too bad on the wallet , really enjoyed myself

The Wheatsheaf, Writtle

Popped in whilst trying pubs in writtle and was very impressed, good selection of ale, the landlord knows his stuff and the beer tastes superb, only downsides are it looks bit run down inside and out, and it's a bit small, but do not let this put you off, I am in love with this pub and will be back next time in a
The area

Stag, Marden Ash

Having never tried the ale served here thought I'd pop in on way home one day for a quick pint, wasn't overly busy so had a bitter which was lovely , the food menu looked good and they have a beer garden and are kid friendly.

The staff seemed ok and I will say I didn't try the food but saw it coming out and it looked good, am going back on a day off with the missus and the little man to try the food.

Good pub

20 Mar 2011 18:56

The Hamilton Hall, Liverpool Street

expensive for a wetherspoons , but its same over the liberty bounds at tower hill , much cheaper non chain pubs about in the area , but its a ok pub if meeting at liverpool st .

oh if your a smoker and are outside having a smoke be prepared to be pestered by people trying to sell various dodgy goods or being asked for a spare smoke

14 Mar 2011 01:12

The Wellington, Strand

popped in early september and i love this pub , intended to have 2 pints , before meeting the lady wife who had been shopping , ended up having quite a few pints of Doombar ....well kept beer

the staff were friendly , except the little spanish/italian waiter bloke who was running around taking care of the tourists but turned a blind eye to me and the wife sitting there

good pub and good beer , what more dya want ?

18 Nov 2010 20:50

Thomas Mildmay, Chelmsford

i personally only go in here during the day and even then its a strange pub , full of strange people , when i say strange im not sure if i mean weird strange or bordering on the psychotic , either way they generally keep themselves to themselves unless your outside having a smoke and then you get pestered for a "spare smoke" unless they know you

on the upside the beer is cheap and quite well kept and the staff are friendly , typical wetherspoons/lloyds layout , fruit/quiz machines

29 Sep 2010 12:46

Yates's, Chelmsford

actually went back the other week for a couple of pints during the day first time in about 3 yrs . beer (smiths) was manky , asked for another draught (fosters) wasnt as ropey but wasnt fantastic , the bar staff (3 young ish lads) seemed more intrested in trying to chat up 1 female ..... had 1 pint and made a exit , much better pubs around than this

29 Sep 2010 12:39

Que Pasa, Chelmsford

popped in the other week as the wetherspoons didnt have any decent ales on and thought id give this place a try again , tried a pint of guiness , wasnt too bad , was 2.85 a pint (i think cant remember to be honest) was about 4pm and was empty in here , staff were busy chatting most of the time i was in there , nothing to complain about , but nothing to rave about either

29 Sep 2010 12:05

The Liberty Bounds, Tower Hill

since when has this wetherspoons hiked its prices up ? popped in for a pint last week and 3.20 for a pint of fosters my friend who was drinking it said the barmaid tried charging him for lime till a manager set her straight , i know its central london but wetherspoons never charge silly prices , especially as other pubs in the area are charging under 3 a pint of fosters

still a reasonable pub though , the ale is well kept and the staff seem knowledgeable about the ales

29 Sep 2010 11:07

The Hogshead, Hornchurch

popped in last time was in the area (during the day) for a couple of pints on my travels , Dave the old manager has been pensioned off and a few of the other staff have moved on as well , maybe a good thing maybe a bad thing who knows , but the Hogs does seem to be retaining staff (some of them)

only had a couple of pints of john smiths which was ok , the pub was quite busy around midday ish with diners

29 Sep 2010 10:41

Goose At Fenchurch, Fenchurch Street

popped in last wednesday daytime (after the lunch rush) , saw they are doing drinks promos now , vodka and lemonade for a pound ..... and a beer (cant remember which brand) for under 2 a pint .... making this pub cheaper than the local weatherspoons , admittedly this pub is expensive on other things , but not as bad as certain other places in the locale , normally use this pub on way into or out of the station , wouldnt go out of my way to go here , but it does for a drink , the staff were friendly and efficent when i visted and the beer was good

29 Sep 2010 10:36

The Fatling and Firkin, Hornchurch

popped in a while back on a recent trip back to the "manor" , the beer garden (the bit out the back , the small bit) has been painted and looked quite nice , the smoking area (old car park) was still pretty much the same , except they have now put a telly outside (different i spose) , inside the pub it was still pretty much the same , the smell was still there , had a pint , which wasnt too bad , cheaper than where i live , the staff seemed friendly but they always were , to be honest not much has changed except for as Tackleberry mentioned the drug dealing , was asked by 3 different people if i wanted some "sniff" ? and this was during the day (around 3pm)

pub is still pretty much the same as it used to be except for being able to buy the ICI back catalog in the pub

29 Sep 2010 10:30

The Brewery Tap, Brentwood

first time ive ever been in here was yesterday .... very very impressed , loved the beer garden with a telly ,ill agree with the other comments lots of tellys but it was a football game , awesome pub , beer wasnt bad staff were friendly

the interior was bit tatty but hey its a good pub dont like the decor put you off

20 Sep 2010 18:50

The Swan, Brentwood

went in yesterday (sunday) afternoon , as was meeting up with a few ex work mates , and the lads i was meeting dont like football so we came here , a few real ales on tap , my friend was on "bonkers conkers" which he said was nice , i was on lager as fancied a change , this was ok , my other friend was on soft drinks as was driving , he ordered scampi and chips which came up in pretty good time

the staff seemed friendly enough to me

the only downside was all the chavs using the pub as a alley way to cut through from the road round the back to the high street

good pub though , has changed a bit though since my last visit

20 Sep 2010 17:54

Essex Yeoman, Upminster

popped in the other day , first time in about 2 years and they have done it up, looks alot more lighter and spacious than it used to be , visited around 1pm on a weekday , wasnt very busy , only popped in for a couple of beers , had ipa on draught which was very drinkable , wasnt many customers when first arrived , by the time i left the local chav population were in playing pool and being loud and obnoxious (around 2pm) , the only member of staff who was behind the ramp was friendly enough

good pub , but let down by the patrons

20 Sep 2010 17:44

The Sandmartin, Chafford Hundred

used this pub loadsa times in the past and recently went in for the first time in 3 yrs , have done the place up since i last visited , lot more lighter now , staff friendly and beer ok

20 Sep 2010 17:40

The Oak, Grays

finally visited , after years of driving past and never trying it i did , went in on bank holiday monday , pub wasnt overly busy , had a pint of ipa smooth which wasnt much cop so went on the lager which was ok

friendly staff and ok locals , not a bad pub

20 Sep 2010 17:36

The Hare, Roxwell

now closed as The Hare , soon to re open as a pie and ale place

29 Jul 2010 16:38

The Wellington, Strand

i usually use this pub if im in the area , popped in the other sunday on my travels and it was still the same , decent beer , not overly silly prices considering where it is and good staff , the outside area was quite busy as was a nice warm day the pub itself had about 10 people inside

4 May 2010 18:08

The Lyceum, Strand

popped in on one of my sunday trips to town , didnt really know what to expect with this pub as have never tried it before and im not a big fan of sam smiths , but i tried it
didnt think much of the pub itself but the beer wasnt bad , quite a few tourists in here just had the one and went elsewhere

4 May 2010 18:05

The Coal Hole, Strand

popped in here for the first time the other sunday and was quite shocked , after all the hit n miss comments ive read i didnt really know what to expect , walked in and wasnt too sure about the decor , had a look at the real ales and didnt really know what to try , the barman (eastern european) let me try a drop of each till i found one i liked , which i thought was a nice touch , ended up having a 4 pints in here before i moved on as i liked this pub , will be back whenever im in the area

4 May 2010 17:59

The Black Bull, Fyfield

my new local .... and i dont really drink here , been in a few times but its more of a dining venue than a pub , only ever been in during day for a pint or three on way home , cant fault the beer , tasted spot on and very well kept
the staff were friendly as well

my only complaint is they close at 1500 mon to sat and re open at 1800

4 May 2010 17:48

The Queens Head, Fyfield

popped in for a pint on way home one sunday afternoon , was packed with diners , got a pint eventually , cant fault the beer (henrys) but had to sit outside which wasnt a problem as was a nice day

havent tried the food , but more of a eaterie than a boozer

4 May 2010 17:45

Cock Tavern, Ongar

i drink in here fairly regular , having only moved from romford quite recently i was looking for a regular pub , this pub isnt my nearest pub but i think its the best pub in ongar for the following reasons

1) the real ale is always good and also varied and very well kept by Ian
2) live entertainment every saturday night , i know the others do stuff as well but they arent as roomy
3) the staff are friendly
4) the punters are friendly
5) food is good

4 May 2010 17:42

Henry Addington, Canary Wharf

this seems to be the lower class pub on the wharf , been here a few times and it attracts different sorts , couldnt moan about the beer , tasted alright when ive been here , reasonable price for the area , the interior looked more ornate than it really was
the staff were ok , we didnt try the food so cant comment on that

30 Jan 2010 23:26

Slug and Lettuce, Canary Wharf

when i popped in on my last trip down to the wharf , it took me 20mins to get served and this was only 4pm ish , only had one and went elsewhere as was too packed and too noisy

30 Jan 2010 23:22

All Bar One, Canary Wharf

if im in and around the wharf on business , i tend to use this place or the pub at the far end of the quay , i normally get away before it gets too busy or im around there over the weekend so i havent really had a problem getting served , i tend not to expect too much from chain bars and i havent had a problem here , its not a place you could call a proper "local" if there is such a thing now days .
it does what its meant to , and the smokers shelters are a nice touch , gets cold down there sometimes

30 Jan 2010 23:20

30 Jan 2010 23:20

The Slug and Lettuce, Brentwood

i havent been in here before as usually try and avoid this type of "bar" , but ended up in here with a few people from work , good selection of lager a not so good selection of ale/beer but wasnt expecting it , the wine list wasnt too extensive either for a "wine bar" , but what we did have was ok , typical chain taste , a little bit pricey .
the staff were fine and and the service was efficent whenever we went to bar the bar staff stopped chatting and served us .
overall not my sort of bar but ok for a drink or two

28 Feb 2009 13:08

The Leather Bottle, Blackmore

popped in last saturday as drive past this pub on a regualar basis but never got chance to pop in , so a few of us from work made a pilgrimage there , we all had different drinks and were quite surprised at the quality , think i said thats the best drop of guiness ive had outside of ireland , someone else had a real ale which kept getting polished off so couldnt have been that bad , and the other beer drinker had lager and he had no complaints .
was expecting it to be a locals pub where outsiders got stared at but we were made to feel very welcome , we didnt try the food only the drinks and they were a high standard , i cannot fault this pub on the service or drinks, lovely little pub will return on next day off

28 Feb 2009 12:54

Good Intent, Hornchurch

i popped in the other week for a beer with a manager from work and was quite shocked , havent been in here since i was 18 and after reading the comments on here i was expecting the worst , but i was pleasently surprised , wasnt full of chavs , and the beer (john smiths) was perfectly acceptable , there are much worse pubs around the area than this .
didnt try the food as was only going to stop for a couple of drinks , ending up staying for 5 or 6 , the barmaid was very friendly and the locals (when i visited at least) seemed friendly
overall not as bad as a lot of people on here make it out to be , i dont know what its like on a weekend when footballs on or a night time but during the day its a perfect pub for a quiet pint

28 Feb 2009 12:00

Optimist Tavern, Upminster

been in a few times over the last month , mainly for food , which wasnt too bad , first time the chicken was a bit dry but edible , but this isnt a eating website its a pub website
the pub is a chain , not a bad chain , bit of a limited range of beer (fosters , smiths etc etc) , the staff seem ok , but i will agree with a previous poster about the female staff , one is a total bimbo who looks at you like your "strange" when you say what you want , but cant complain too much, a good pint was poured little bit pricey (pint of smiths n fosters a j20 and something alcoholic and coke) 9.50 but it is a nice relaxed place

15 Nov 2008 14:38

The Railway Hotel, Hornchurch

popped in the other sunday about 1300hrs was going to have a bite to eat with the moosus , but even at this early hour all the tables were taken , thought sod it have a beer n go down the optimist , took 10 mins to get served had a quick scoop then went down optimist , for some reason on the weekend this pub goes downhill , still better than some establishments in hornchurch

15 Nov 2008 14:32

The Cricketers, Hornchurch

im in here alot more than i used to be , namely due to a change in my drinking circle , used to only pop in for a quick pint on way to weatherspoons or fatlin depending which bus id got .
spending more time in here my opinon of this pub has changed for the better , the bar staff are friendly and usually pretty quick, the beer (depending what you drink)the john smiths is sometimes a little bit iffy , the lager (fosters anyway) isnt too bad and the cider (so im told) is spot on
it is a proper horse racing pub and you do occasionally hear a few good tips , as a horse racing pub the clientelle is mainly male aged 35+ (apart from me).
it is (if you give it a chance) a bloody good pub , i would rate it 7.5/10 , downsides being small toilets , beer being iffy more often than not and one of the barmaids finishing happy hour 10mins early cause i had half pint left

5 Aug 2008 13:33

Ardleigh and Dragon, Hornchurch

now called the spencer n dragon , a pub with a thai place attached , yet to indulge , will post more when ive been back

5 Aug 2008 13:23

The Riverside Inn, Chelmsford

popped in a few days ago , only had the one pint of the black stuff , expertly poured , left to settle and tasted superb , bit pricey at 3.20 a pint but was a good quality so cant complain
happy new year all

31 Dec 2007 18:12

The Jobbers Rest, Cranham

appears to be closed . the curtains are always closed and no cars are ever in the car park , no matter what time of day i pass

31 Dec 2007 18:06

The Fleet, Purfleet

over a year since me last review and nothing much has changed in my eyes , still friendly and fast service , good mix of punters , nice smoking area .
out of the two pubs in purfleet this is miles and away the best .

19 Dec 2007 10:35

The Kings Head, Hornchurch

already up n running as pizza place , prezzo or sumthing

19 Oct 2007 19:13

The Hog's Head, Southend on Sea

going the way of all hogs , becoming a slug , popped in last week , beer was the usual range of a SL pub , wasnt overly well kept , drinkable , usual slug decor , just (still) another chain watering hole , the hogs was better

5 Oct 2007 18:43

The Cliff, Southend on Sea

well i dont know about the review below , i wasnt treated as a new friend , i was treated as a outsider when i last visited last week , me and the wife and me best mate were in southend and thought we would pop in to his old local , me and him were playing pool and sharing a cigarette in between shots , and there were two "men" i use the term men in its loosest sense , and all they did were bitch about us and my other half , how is this making outsiders feel like new friends or is that only for "gay" people ?
on the upside , the beer is cheap , but not very well kept , perhaps i had the first pint out of that tap but it was bloody awful and had it changed which the barman wasnt happy about , i dont know whats happened to this pub , this time last year this pub was the dogs danglies , perhaps i just caught em on a off day but who knows , i wont be going back to find out again

2 Oct 2007 19:39

Elms, Leigh On Sea

i had my first visit here the other day cause me mate has moved in just round the corner and hes been on about this place so went n had a look .
a nice large patio come smoking area , with heaters in the umberllas that actually work , quite a spacious pub , we went in around 4pm and there was a few people in .
the beer , well i only had fosters , but this was a nice drop , me mate had a ale , i cant remember which one but i had a drop and it was quite nice , tasted well kept , the staff were friendly and knew their stuff about the beer .
will have to say i think i might be going to leigh a bit more often now i know this pub is ok , the downside was the toilet stunk
but all in all not the best spoons ive been in , in the top 3 though , but no where near the worst

2 Oct 2007 19:32

The Cricketers, Hornchurch

happy hours back on 4pm - 7pm any draught 1.90 a pint , only reason i went in there was cause of the sign and the fact my watch said 401pm . worth a visit between 4 and 7 if you wana have a look

26 Aug 2007 04:01

The Railway Hotel, Hornchurch

well i will say it has got a little bit pricey lately but who cares , during the day you get a wide range of people in , some dining some just drinking (usually me) , late afternoon it starts getting busy when the office bods get home and fancy a quick beer , normally (sun mon-thurs) dies off around 8pm , but i have never had a bad pint in here , the staff (during the day at least) are superb , never known any trouble in here , well when ive been there , there hasnt been , a nice little gem hidden off the trail of the pubs in hornchurch , top hole !

26 Aug 2007 03:52

Essex Yeoman, Upminster

got to say this is one of favourite pubs , i come from rainham to drink here , mainly due to the friendly staff , extremely good prices , good atmosphere .its a blindin pub alot better now than it used to be

4 Aug 2007 20:04

The Kings Head, Hornchurch

went up today , sorry to report pub closed , windows boarded up
RIP kings heads

7 Jul 2007 21:01

Halfway II Heaven, Charing Cross

a cruisey gay/lesbian bar , 2 seconds from trafalger square and 2 secs from charing cross station , being straight and totally at ease with myself i do venture here whenever im in the area the reasons are
1) its cheap for the area
2) staff are friendly and helpful
3) can normally get served quick
two bars , dont venture downstairs unless your prepared to be stared at
one of the better pubs in the area , can get busy around 5pm but not as busy as the pubs between embankment station n charing cross

30 May 2007 14:47

The Last Post, Southend on Sea

was in for the airshow , my usual starting pub and finishing , sunday , around 1300 not too packed , so got served a nice pint quick n easily , went back a few hours later with a few people , we ordered a bottle of magners , amaretto n coke and a pint of speckled hen which we was told was off , so had a marstons instead which was very nice indeed , next round my mate asked if the speckled was back on ? was told its never been off .....
ended up staying here till it got too busy with the clubbers going out , all in all not a bad pub with good staff , just made me wonder bout the speckled .

29 May 2007 12:33

Chinnery's, Southend on Sea

was in here sunday for the airshow , the door staff were friendly and chatty and were straight onto trouble before it could get started , the bar staff were brilliant and even though the place was packed with the chav classes of essex (i maybe 25 and live in essex but im no chav) we still got served pretty quick , not overly pricey (bottle of magners , pint of tetleys and a double ammaretto n coke 11) all served in obligatory plastic cups , a nice pub after the airshow had finished we stayed put for a few hours and it died down lovely in here a nice pub really

29 May 2007 12:25

Cheers, Regent Street

popped in saturday afternoon/evening as was in the area and my companion had never been to london but had heard how shite cheers was , so i took her in , full of arseholes down the far end of the bar , probably due to the football being shown on screens , had a drink n went , still as dire as it used to be, this pub/bar/hole is mainly for tourists who cant understand the concept of our currency and think paying 6 quid for a cocktail is fair game .
got served fairly quickly though , the range of products as other people have already said is well below average , staff chew gum, and talk amongst themselves all the time
AVOID LIKE THE PLAUGE

29 May 2007 12:21

The Pepys Bar at the Novotel Hotel, Tower Hill

visited a few weeks back as just fancied one last pint on way to fenchurch st , wish i hadnt bothered , a poncey wine bar type affair that sells very over priced beer , was p***ed and order a pint of lager cant remember which one , didnt enjoy it , tasted manky , drunk it and scarpered , avoid avoid avoid

25 May 2007 19:16

The Hamilton Hall, Liverpool Street

popped in at about 11am tuesday (dont ask why) but it was quite busy even at 11am , had a pint of fosters which was ok , clientele looked somewhat mixed n shabby but first thing in morning .

a massive pub with a massive celing the space couldve been better used , for a "whatevaspoons" its aint too bad, not the best ive been to but no where near the worst , probably the cheapest pub in the area , but there are better just more pricey

25 May 2007 19:13

Huntsman and Hounds, Upminster

was in here sunday , first time visited in a few months, now a totally non smoking pub ,but there is a covered area out the back which is the designated smoking area , typical ember inns pub , which arent bad in general , was in here till closing time and to be honest it wasnt all that bad .

the beer was good (fosters and adnams) and the prices werent too crippling , the staff were friendly and efficent , this pub is the face of things to come on july the 1st , gota say quite impressed will be visiting again when up that part of upminster

23 May 2007 18:53

J J Moons, Hornchurch

was in here friday afternoon , they have changed the layout so the smoking area is now the old non smoking area , bit strange but month n bits time all gona change , had a pint of fosters a jd n coke n a coke and got change out of 6 quid (70p to be precise).

this is the cheapest pub in hornchurch , and as such does attract a fair few habitual drinkers , but no probs during the day , unless the postman are in , bar staff are bit hit and miss

the duty manager fella everyone moans about isnt that bad sometimes.
the food and the drink are typical weatherspoons fayre but if u go in you get what you pay for , beer and it does some good beer , the decor does it no favours though

23 May 2007 18:46

The Cricketers, Hornchurch

new wine bar type thing called olivers has opened up next door to this pub , where the carvery used to be , over 25s looks a bit up market , have yet to visit but the cricketers is still a good pub , reasonable prices , friendly staff , only down side is the toilets bit cramped n smelly but its a old pub
not a bad boozer

23 May 2007 18:40

The Kings Head, Hornchurch

in a way it will be sorry to see this pub go, as hornchurch has lost 2 pubs in the last year (llyods and the kings head) may not be the best pubs in the world but they offer the things i like , beer and a good atmosphere , , in other ways the bar staff left a lot to be desired at times , but that was my only ever niggle with the kings , normally served a good pint , had a nice varied selection and was a proper old school pub , many a crawl round hornchurch has ended up here and it will be sorely missed .
who knows what the pizza place may be , still be over inflated beer prices (not my words read previous previous comment) but hey

23 May 2007 18:28

The Crown and Sugarloaf, Bride's Lane

well i stumbled across this pub by accident , as i waited next door for 20 mins and didnt get served so i walked off , i found this pub and thought why not , natalie the manager was a friendly person , had a good pint of sam smiths lager only the one as i was pissed anyway , very cheap pub for the area well impressed , will be visiting again

10 May 2007 14:16

The Shakespeare, Victoria

well i dont know if things have changed here but visited yesterday and it was busy , but the bar area was deserted got served quickly and was a nice drop of beer didnt really stay too long as was on way to a meeting seemed better than it did maybe i just hit it on a very good day

10 May 2007 14:10

The Fatling and Firkin, Hornchurch

male totty ? im normally in there , young virile man lol this is probably the best pub in hornchurch, i personally have never had a problem in here , apart from when a good band is on , then its just a pain in the rear trying to get served but the atmos is good the beer is generally pretty good and the staff are excellent

10 May 2007 14:08

The Minories, Tower Hill

well i visited one saturday afternoon and was walking to get a DLR train didnt think this would be open , it was so in i went , was quite shocked at how big the place was , there wasnt many people in at the time so i was chatting to matt the barman who gave me a guided tour of the pub well showed me the bit out the back , only intended staying for one before meeting friends for a session , they came down n met me here , had a few more then left , overall it was a bit pricey but it is in the square mile , havent visited during the week so cant comment on that but i didnt find it a bad boozer as pubs in this area go

21 Apr 2007 12:21

The Hogshead, Tower Hill

visited about a week ago around 6pm , it is now a slug n lettuce , bit of a makeover which is normal of the slug chain , bar staff are the usual eastern europeans , beer wasnt upto much and pricey
not a spot on the hogs , still times change

12 Apr 2007 13:29

The Railway Bell, South Woodford

was in last night for the football , im not a regular , cheap as chips 2.15 for a pint of fosters , good friendly bar staff , wasnt overly packed either and a mix of people , my only complaint was the smoking area , bit small n cramped , but this is a sign of the times i guess
overall not a bad pub , one pool table , one quiz machine , 4 fruit machines and about 5 big screens
worth a visit if local

12 Apr 2007 13:25

The Hogshead, South Woodford

its a Slug n lettuce , usual decor , usual prices nothing much to write home about , usual range of beer

12 Apr 2007 13:22

Doggetts Coat and Badge, Southwark

went in here as passed by sooo many times and thought its about time to check it out , me and my friend visited one saturday and went into the sports bar , 2 pool tables , table footy , 2 jackpot machines , ordered 2 pints of fosters came to 5.75 which aint bad i guess , nothing wrong with the beer or the staff , the floor below where the toilets are was packed but it was a good pub with excellent views across the thames , well worth a visit

Willow Walk, Victoria

well worth a 2 min walk from the station , must be the best pub in the victoria area , friendly staff good cheap beer , no atmosphere well it is a spoons
ive never had a bad pint in here , use this pub around once a week maybe more if im in the area more , can get packed when the office monkeys kick out but its normally ok .

16 Mar 2007 13:05

Wetherspoons, Victoria Station

been here a few times normally on the way home or whilst waiting for someone , typical station boozer, but this is a weatherspoons so expect what u will , i thought it was gona be a shit pit and it was , this was a friday night i may add , but visited a last saturday daytime and wasnt bad , same as all weathers i guess a bit hit n miss
mrs romfordir didnt like it on a friday night as was packed of idiots

16 Mar 2007 12:57

The Shakespeare, Victoria

have wrote a review on this place because i thought it would be a waste of time as everyone else has said what i thought in previous comments , been here a couple of times mainly because i couldnt be arsed to walk to the weatherspoons and i was meeting someone , ive got to say ive been in some right shithole boozers all over the country but i have never encountered such a place in london , the staff have no customer service skills and no human skills by the looks of it , only stayed each time for a quick pint which was quaffed very very quickly maximum stay including waiting for a beer was 10mins , what a god forsaken place this really is

16 Mar 2007 12:51

The Namco Station bar, Waterloo

went in last night as was over the south bank and thought why not lets go and get depressed , went in and played a few games then too the bar part of which a private party , was quite concerned about a young person walking around obviously drunk clutching a empty bottle of smirnoff ice , had one pint of fizz and left pretty sharpish
as ive said before avoid at all costs , only fit for tourists and people with more money than taste

11 Mar 2007 11:21

The Essex Serpent, Covent Garden

went in this evening the upper bar was packed so went downstairs , a good pint was served , bit smokey but ok

10 Mar 2007 23:23

The Liberty Bounds, Tower Hill

visited last night around 930pm was quite busy , but got served quick by a eastern european barmaid who didnt get the idea of a J20 without a glass , had a pint of brown as i looked at the beer menu and thought 2.49 for a bottle was bloody good value , must be one of the (if not the cheapest) pub in the area , service is hit n miss , ive been here many a time and service is different everytime i visit , but its a weatherspoons so i dont expect much , its not a bad pub really

9 Mar 2007 16:16

Goose At Fenchurch, Fenchurch Street

went in last night had a pint of fosters which wasnt upto much , the pub was packed , didnt really hang around as was stood next to some daft blonde woman who really did my head in , now called the windsor , ok for a quick pint better than the pub on the station concourse

9 Mar 2007 16:13

The Northumberland Arms, Fitzrovia

well i went here tonight and ive got to say i wasnt impressed , i visited around 2020 only one barmaid on !!!! for a busy pub this was poxy , but i was served quite quickly , couple of ales on didnt try them , a small range of beers , and a small pub .
together with the loud music and the smoke this wasnt my sort of pub . also the carlsberg was bloody awful , i really hate to rate this pub , in my honest opinon it doesnt deserve a wet fart let alone a number a bloody awful pub, but it gets a 1 due to a very nice blonde girl who i was talking to (the H files maybe ? what the bloody hell is a H file neway ?) oh well im rambling one word sums this pub up
SHITE

9 Mar 2007 00:36

The Prince of Wales Feathers, Warren Street

went in this evening , wasnt expecting much as the place was packed , but so i was told by a very friendly barman this was quiet ho hum , couple of real ale pumps didnt see what though as was miles away from them , a outstanding array of fizzy water which i tried , the fosters was nice , didnt try the toilets or the food but was ok for a pint , the football was on and was a good atmosphere but loud n packed

9 Mar 2007 00:28

Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese, Fleet Street

well i visited again due to seeing a post made after my last one on the 6/7/06 and i actually tried other things than "stella" which i dont drink as i find it bloodly awful , i know this is a sam smiths pub but with this in mind my local British legion is a sam smiths buyer and the bitter they do is superb , with this in mind a few of the merry wanderers ended up in london (either here or southend) and one of the group wanted to see why we raved about the tipperary across the road , but we came here first and i tried the same lager i tried before and it tasted lovely (think i copped a dodgy pint last time) everyone had something different and we all tried each others the beer we were served was f**kin excellent , this pub had a ten rating from me before because of the excellent service i got , now it has a fully deserved ten .
a historical part of londons drinking history that has been untouched by the glass and neon of a 21st century bussling capital city .

5 Mar 2007 14:40

The The Fen, Fenchurch St station

was in here the other saturday and they called last orders at 5pm why ????
oh well a little walk to the liberty didnt do me any harm , as ive said before not a bad little pub , although the carling does taste a bit iffy at times , but apart from that probably one of the best station pubs in london

3 Mar 2007 12:55

The Reef Bar, Waterloo

visited this pub on the way home one evening was a wednesday if memory serves , about 6pm , was busy but what did i expect , got served quick and the beer was a good quality , didnt really hang around as had the missus on the phone wondering where i was , but it is a typical station bar serves beer what more can you ask for

3 Mar 2007 12:52

The Sherlock Holmes, Charing Cross

went in one saturday and been here many times only for a quick pint but my companion wanted a short so we ordered a double vodka n red bull and i had a vodka and orange ..... 12 , i know this is central london but how do they get away with charging these prices ?
think im gona stay with lager in here from now on , apart from that the service is good (mainly foreigners behind the ramp) havent tried the food but hear good things , bit of a touristy pub as mentioned on a few of the london tours , nothing to write home about

2 Mar 2007 21:20

The Lord Moon Of The Mall, Whitehall

after the experience of having my wallet surgically removed by the sherlock , this pub made a extremely welcome surprise , i had a belvedere vodka n orange and my companion had a malibu and pineapple which come to less than 8 quid ........ 8 QUID FOR TWO
(short) DRINKS IN CENTRAL LONDON EXCELLENT
excellent service , considering it was a rainy saturday afternoon and the pub wasnt all that busy compared to some in the area
WELL WORTH A VISIT

2 Mar 2007 21:15

The Railway Hotel, Hornchurch

one good thing about this pub is the food , no matter how busy it is , the food is always excellent , the beer is usually pretty well kept as for the comment on coors being a premium quality ale (which i assume was a snipe at me) this is the only pub in hornchurch which does coors and as with all the beer (lager or otherwise) it is usually in a very well kept condition and tastes superb , the only let down is the premium prices but compared to some of the pubs in the near vicinity id rather pay the extra to sit in a nice friendly pub think its only about 3p a pint dearer than the hogshead and there isnt much chance of a fight breaking out in here , the staff are excellent , the food is excellent and the beer is excellent so this to me is the number 1 pub in the hornchurch area and thus my local

2 Mar 2007 11:30

The Wharf, Grays

my local pub , the bar staff are excellent , the beer is a little bit ropey at times but cant complain , the food is good and cheap , bit of a bugger to get to but now in the afternoon peak hours there is a little bus which runs rounds the estate from grays station which is 70p saves a walk in the wet .
lovely pub in the summer you can sit out by the wall and watch the boats plough up n down the thames , if you hear anything about this being a "gay" pub take no notice , its "gay and lesbian friendly" as i was told by jasmine the barmaid , excellent friendly people both locals and staff

18 Feb 2007 15:56

The Treacle Mine, Grays

was in here a bit over the xmas period and busy wasnt the word , xmas day you couldnt move in here same as the sandmartin but its xmas day so fair dos , was in here last weekend and it was manic but did get a fair drop of beer and was quickly served by a friendly bar maid , got to say was a good time and i enjoyed myself my friends enjoyed themselves
not a bad pub really food was ok beer was good the staff were excellent

18 Feb 2007 15:50

Lloyds No.1, Hornchurch

loadsa stuff in the local rags about whats happening to this place , rumour is now 3 retail units and 4 residential , loada stuff about the logicstical nightmare of building or renovating this building , the feeling amongst the locals is that it should be kept as a pub as there has been a pub here for years .

17 Feb 2007 15:40

The Famous 3 Kings (F3K), West Kensington

went in yesterday afternoon , was very very surprised , 3 american pool tables , 5 fruit machines , 2 quiz machines , table football, god knows how many big screen tellys all showing different sports , wasnt overly pricey with a pint of fosters and a lemonade weighing in at 4.30 .
the staff were good and friendly , the little manager with the red hair i think i went to college with , either way she is gorgeous .
good beer + good pool+ good surroundings = great pub 9/10 from me wouldve been ten but the toilets werent upto much , first time ive visited would come back again if in the area

8 Feb 2007 11:55

The Hogshead, Tower Hill

visited yesterday evening , and a sign on the door states that "this pub closes on the 9th of febuary and will re open in march as a slug and lettuce" the fridges were all empty but the beer out the pump was ok , shame about this pub closing , but who knows what the slug chain will do with it
RIP hogshead

8 Feb 2007 11:46

The Hogshead, Tower Hill

visited yesterday evening , and a sign on the door states that "this pub closes on the 9th of febuary and will re open in march as a slug and lettuce" the fridges were all empty but the beer out the pump was ok , shame about this pub closing , but who knows what the slug chain will do with it
RIP hogshead

8 Feb 2007 11:46

The Fatling and Firkin, Hornchurch

since the refurb its not the same , the dark and dingyness that gave this pub the character that made it brilliant has gone , and so has my enthustiasm for the fatlin , i agree with the comment that all the old llyods drinkers have migrated this way , think this pub is now a cross between llyods and the hogs , but apart from the decor i have never had a bad time in this pub , the beers good the staff are excellent and the food is good value for money and spot on , ive drunk in this pub for around 6 or 7 years now and its still quite high on my list of hornchurch pubs , but its getting to the point now where everything is all the same , its getting boring
but all in all this is a great pub with great staff which serves (normally) great beer at reasonable prices a 8/10 , wouldve been a 10 but they have done away with one fruit machine and put the quiz machine right in a corner by a table which is hard to play if other people are at the table

6 Feb 2007 15:49

The Chequers Inn, Hornchurch

under new landlordship so im aware still a good pub was here watching the footie today and no probs

20 Jan 2007 18:57

The Plough, Romford

now closed ....... been a pub here since the 16th century according to the romford recorder
RIP THE PLOUGH and gallow kebabs that used to be outside it

20 Jan 2007 18:54

The Sandmartin, Chafford Hundred

was in last night , didnt have to wait long for a pint , service was excellent , wasnt very packed for a saturday night , few chavs about but nothing major , the landlord n staff are excellent and friendly had a very good chat with the landlord , changed from how it was a few years back

17 Dec 2006 13:55

The Kings Head, Hornchurch

rumour has it this pub has been sold as well .... soon there will be no where left to drink in hornchurch , unsure if this is just a rumour or truth but im going down there today so ill find out an post whats going on .

17 Dec 2006 13:47

The Montagu Pyke, Charing Cross Road

went in here a while back on a crawl around the city , didnt really rate it much , typical llyods fare just a bit more pricey than out of town llyods , had one pint then left not our sort of place with the people that were in

15 Dec 2006 11:45

Cheers, Regent Street

went in here saturday waited 20 mins to be served then gave up , over priced poncy place fit for tourists only

14 Dec 2006 12:23

Lloyds No.1, Hornchurch

the mosque rumour was doing the rounds just before it closed , walked out of the hogs last night and all the windows are now boarded up , they could never keep the chavs out of llyods lol

14 Dec 2006 09:48

The Hung, Drawn and Quartered, Tower Hill

popped in saturday , didnt think this place was open on a saturday but it was last saturday , had a pint of pride which tasted just right , didnt really notice the refurb but still a blinding pub

14 Dec 2006 09:45

Essex Yeoman, Upminster

went in yesterday , still got the nice blonde girl behind the bar , and a new manager by the looks of things , the beer wasnt bad and still 2.05 a pint cant go wrong really
still best pub in upminster

14 Dec 2006 09:41

The Tipperary, Fleet Street

been here a few times and its always the same , good service good beer , only complaint is the downstairs bar is a bit cramped , but this is all part of the charm

10 Dec 2006 17:36

O'Neills, Cannon Street

went in yesterday first time visited this pub , bit small but apart from that not bad , good friendly service beer was excellent not bad at all

22 Nov 2006 21:30

Ye Olde White Harte Hotel, Burnham on Crouch

8 Nov 2006 11:43

The Cliff, Southend on Sea

my mate moved in just round the corner so we went in for a gander knew it was a gay bar as my mate gary uses the cliff , walked in and was treated to one bloke eating his partner ....
being totally at ease me and my mate ordered 2 fosters which were cheap and i must say tasted superb , was bitched about when we started playing pool , had a few pints here and seemed a good pub the staff were friendly and didnt seem to ignore us mind you was about 2pm and there was only about 9 people in the bar , a nice hidden gem in southend , has become my usual pub for when im in southend now .
anyone whos homophobic stay away as this will not be your cuppa T

8 Nov 2006 11:39

The Hogshead, Tower Hill

visited friday the 13th so dont know if that was a good omen or not lol
but pretty much what you expect from a square mile boozer , the decor was to my liking , how the hornchurch hogs used to be before the ikea makeover .
2 bars here only visited the main bar and it was pretty quiet except for some loud mouthed blonde bint who got outa work early and mustve had 1 too many lambrinis.
service was ok 3 staff on 1 reading a paper 1 cashing up and luke who was serving , opted for a fosters as had the evening in front of me, the telly was pretty dismal just the hogshead promo playing over and over .
in general not a bad hogs better than hornchurch since the makeover , not overly expensive , visit between 1 and 3 before the office monkeys come out , possibly the best pub in area , but considering the competion this isnt too hard

20 Oct 2006 14:18

The Barking Dog, Barking

only saving grace for this pub is , its a couple of steps from the station , all manner of low life in here , definatly didnt feel safe in here quaffed my pint then next door to the spotted , not the worst weatherspoons ive ever been in but very close to it.

13 Oct 2006 13:26

The Spotted Dog, Barking

i will have to agree with everything thats been wrote about this pub , popped in one sunday night and it was quite , i took one look in the dog next door and thought nah looks packed , best judgement ive made , good drop of ale friendly staff and not too overly priced , well impressed was my first visit , think im on my 35th now , best pub in barking by miles

13 Oct 2006 13:22

Village Inn, Gatwick Airport

visited last friday evening and was busy but i got served quick by a friendly english bar person , only had a fosters as wasnt in the mood for anything heavy , cant fault the staff or the beer , probably the best weatherspoons ive been to for a while , quick good service , good beer well impressed , only complaint was one of the managers (?) chatting up a female member of staff and falling arse over tit over my case in the process , did i say complaint yes i did cause he knocked my pint flying funny though lol

10 Oct 2006 14:35

Lloyds No.1, Hornchurch

shame it closed though , and i agree with david14 the fatlin just isnt the same since its been refurbed , rip llyods

10 Oct 2006 14:28

The Punch And Judy, Covent Garden

been here a few times normally with people who have heard about it and want to try it despite my protests they have tried it and found what i said to be true , touristy isnt the word , we actually have to mention this place when we do walking tours of london , takes a eternity to get served and when you do its often the wrong order , but the beer wasnt too bad last time i was here , but trying to find somewhere to sit was a mission , we drunk up and went .
ok for tourists and people with no taste

4 Oct 2006 12:28

Cheers, Regent Street

so when we take em to a normal pub they can appreciate the difference , and also i know its full of essex chavs , last time was there was talking to a chav from billericay , totally scary place

3 Oct 2006 22:58

Cheers, Regent Street

was meant to mean a place to show tourists as a theme bar but not a proper london pub , only come here when smashed already and its happy hour , even then its not very happy

3 Oct 2006 21:10

The Thatched House, Upminster

more of a dining establishment than a boozer , been in here a couple of times for a quick pint but never tried the food , they are definatly more geared towards serving food , but a good drop of beer and friendly staff so not too bad in my book

13 Sep 2006 11:40

Lloyds No.1, Hornchurch

as from friday this will no longer be a pub , was told yesterday when was in there it has been sold to developers to be turned into housing , there has been a pub here for the whole of my 25 years on this planet , i had my first legal drink here when it was the newt , i know it aint the best pub in hornchurch but who wants to see a icon of hornchurch knocked down ?
also it has the newt n cucumber signage back up , as the llyods sign fell down revealing the old sign
RIP llyods no 1/ newt n cucumber/ madison exchange / white hart or whatever name you know it as

6 Sep 2006 11:25

The Fleet, Purfleet

this is our local work pub , used to be the royal till this place opened , the decor in here is superb , would make you think you was up london not sitting near esso refinery , friendly staff and good quality beer .
a little bit pricey but hey its a good quality pub , got a couple of fruit machines and one quiz machine , and a seperate dining area , but quite a roomy bar area

30 Jul 2006 15:50

The Namco Station bar, Waterloo

absoulutly crap , beer is awful the staff cant speak english and also dont play pool they stripe you up on the prices about a hour on it cost us 7 quid , but that was only 3 games with the other half , full of tourists and really strange people avoid at all costs

23 Jul 2006 02:33

The Polar Bear, Leicester Square

didnt feel comfy in here was full of dodgy charecters so had the pint of carlsberg which was nice n scarpered

9 Jul 2006 20:28

The Moon Under Water, Leicester Square

packed to the rafters when i vistited , thought bugger this but was served pretty quick , got the beers n moved outa the way ,seemed ok if not a little busy , the beer was good the staff were friendly

9 Jul 2006 20:27

Cheers, Regent Street

have been here for many a happy hour , the service was sh**e , waited at the main bar for 20 mins gave up and went to the bar by the door to get a drink , full of tourists but where it is i didnt expect much out of it , was quite impressed i went in around midday and was nice n quiet had a pitcher of beer to myself and left very happy .
ok if showing london off to people from outa the area but not for locals

9 Jul 2006 20:19

The Lord Aberconway, Liverpool Street

been to this pub quite alot , never had many problems apart from the getting a seat thing , the staff always seem to change everytime i go there , beer isnt that bad , wouldnt use all the time but handy when meeting friends at liverpool st

9 Jul 2006 19:40

The Hamilton Hall, Liverpool Street

been here many times but not muh to shout about untill few weeks back , couldnt get a seat inside so went outside one spare table no chairs , so we rested on the table till some no star general from weatherspoons came out and told us to sit on seats not tables , said where are the seats ? he said well dont sit on the table so off he went .
kinda strange , the beer aint too bad in here cheap n cheerful and a mix of people the staff seem ok

9 Jul 2006 19:36

The Ship, Tower Hill

popped in here a few weeks back , seemed pretty busy but that was mainly cause it was lunchtime , nice drop of beer served . didnt really hang around as time wasnt on my side , came back a bit later to get my train home and it was excellent got talking to some regulars and had quite a good evening . will return during the day when time is on my side

9 Jul 2006 18:59

The Peacock, Tower Hill

i do like this pub found it by accident on a crawl one afternoon midweek and went in for one , the place was dead 2 bar staff and us 2 ordered a pint played the fruitys then went up to play pool , lovely roomy area upstairs where the toilets are , nice drop of beer friendly bar staff and reasonable prices all add up to a good pub in my eyes .
i will return next time im up london on the beer

9 Jul 2006 18:50

Ye Three Lords, Aldgate

been in here only during the day and it seemed ok , bit full of suits and we stood out like sore thumbs in jeans n shirts , but hey the beer wasnt too bad had a pint of lager which tasted ok didnt really encounter the staff so i cant comment on them , but is definatly a suits pub

9 Jul 2006 18:42

The Chamberlain Hotel, Aldgate

popped in here on a crawl one afternoon , seemed a friendly clean place , the prices are what you expect of a hotel in central london , but i will say the beer was excellent the staff were friendly and we stayed for a few more than the one that we intended
nice pub

9 Jul 2006 18:39

Bar 38, Aldgate

went in here for a quick pint , wasnt that bad a pub probably the cheapest in the area , seemed ok the beer was ok the staff were friendly didnt stay that long though as had a meeting to get to

9 Jul 2006 18:31

Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese, Fleet Street

finally got round to having a beer in here , had a sam smiths lager , which tasted strange gave it back and got another which also tasted funny , but carried on with this one my friend had a pint of organic lager which was reasonable , nice pub maybe a bit touristy but the range of beers well i say range should be lack of range , but apart from that friendly staff and reasonable prices

9 Jul 2006 18:22

All Bar One, Bloomsbury

went in here with a few friends from work , 2 pints of the black stuff , 1 unheard of before lager and a coke came out about the price i expected , the beer all tasted ok , was quiet ish in here when we visited , no other probs

9 Jul 2006 18:17

Lloyds No.1, Hornchurch

well i will say that the staff have certainally settled down and now glyns back things might start to look up , went in 3 days ago during the day and the floor around the bar was sticky , but the beer was good n cheap and no chavs about

9 Jul 2006 15:09

The Hogshead, Leicester Square

surounded by knocking shops and just on the skirts of chinatown , ive been here quite a few times never really had a bad pint here , but it does get busy at times , wouldnt trust leaving a bag of dog shit in here as some thieving git would have it away , but considering the pubs/bars on the square this is about the best in the area and one of the cheapest .

6 Jul 2006 19:26

The Hogshead, Hornchurch

went in yesterday , the decor is certainly better than the old hogs , feels like being up london and the prices are on a par to london as well , like the pub now

23 Jun 2006 21:23

The Last Post, Southend on Sea

i will say my visit was on the airshow weekend and being the first pub outside the station it was packed so i expected a wait , but i waited around 4 minutes for a pint , which wasnt bad , was packed to the rafters , but the staff (including the bouncers) were friendly and the beer was brilliant , i have used this place a few times and never have had a bad show in here , and some words to anon who works there , KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK

10 Jun 2006 18:04

Chinnery's, Southend on Sea

went in here on the airshow weekend , but usually use this pub as quite lively and they give you plastic glasses (proper tough plastic not flimsy cups) if you want to sit outside , was packed but found a seat near the pool table was aload of 16-20 years old who were a bit noisy but they were good as gold and we even joined them for the games they were playing , a good pub all in all reasonable prices good drink .

10 Jun 2006 18:01

Yates's, Romford

was here a 2 thursday ago with some friends before kareoke was nice , the kareoke kicked off was even better , they got up and made prats of themselves , i enjoyed the drink and the ladies , nice pub in general bit packed but hey it was a good nite , and also pricey comapred to spoonys and the goose

10 Jun 2006 17:45

Golden Lion, Romford

went in here a few weeks back after the hospital and intended to stay for 1 stayed for too many and need a cab home , good prices good staff and friendly locals , belive gareth from the weatherspoons in hornchurch works here but didnt see him , blinding pub better than the crap further down south st

10 Jun 2006 17:41

The Bitter End, Romford

went here a while ago and like the previous comment nothing much has changed , still a reasonable drinking hole , quite cheap very cheerful and only a few grungers but hey nobodys perfect

10 Jun 2006 17:39

The Railway Hotel, Hornchurch

does coors on tap which is sublime

10 Jun 2006 17:23

The Hogshead, Hornchurch

reopened yet to indulge but will do and will post a review

10 Jun 2006 17:19

The Fatling and Firkin, Hornchurch

and do not ask what the sign which reads T.P.O.Y.C.I.A.D.F.T.B.S means , it means the price of your curiosity is a drink for the bar staff , and that way you get lumbered buying a bigger round than you intended

10 Jun 2006 17:18

The Fatling and Firkin, Hornchurch

i defy anyone to go in during the day and get bad service (except the larger girl with dark frizzy hair shes a bit weird ) the staff are friendly , the pub has a bit of charecter to it , but compared to the trendy chav infested holes this is a welcome change , no matter what your style or age (21+) you will get a good welcome , sometimes due to lousy pumps the beer goes a bit wrong and they end up with just bottles only (twice in 6 yrs so not bad) but i can honestly say now this has been added to the site this is my number 1 pub in hornchurch , 1 pool table , 3 fruit machines , 1 quiz machines and a juke box , and they also play live music on thurs fri sat and sun nights , a blinding pub also does food but i have never tried that

10 Jun 2006 17:15

The Cricketers, Hornchurch

a bit small , the toilet can take about 3 people at a push and they have to be slim , but that is about the only downside , oh and the old man element , but they just worry about the betting slips and never really bother anyone.
the staff seem friendly even the bouncers of a evening seem friendly , the beer is not too bad , i remember they used to have happy hour 4-7 every weekday which was blinding
in all not a bad boozer dearer than its neighbour but a nice relaxed atmosphere

10 Jun 2006 17:09

Ardleigh and Dragon, Hornchurch

as my review was taken down ill try again , avoid this place , this is the last stop for all the dregs of hornchurch and harold hill , AVOID AVOID

21 May 2006 22:15

The Hogshead, Hornchurch

CLOSED FOR 3 WEEKS FOR REFURB hope it gets better

17 May 2006 18:02

The Pitcher and Piano, Bishopsgate

popped in here and was greeted with a very narrow selection of drinks so opted for carlsberg , which didnt taste all that , even during the day you get assorted weirdos in here and im not including the suits , drank up and ran next door to dirty dicks , but this is my own opinon so try it for urselves

27 Mar 2006 17:01

Dirty Dick's, Bishopsgate

been here a few times and normally go into the ground level bar , quite roomy and nice a proper old looking place in the middle of the glass of the city .
get a nice drop of beer here and the staff are friendly a nice place during the day when the suits are at work

27 Mar 2006 16:57

The Railway Tavern, Liverpool Street

was here last week around lunchtime was packed , but got served reasonably quick and found a seat by the windows which was nice watching the talent walking past on lunch , the beer wasnt bad the staff seemed ok , not a bad pub , but wouldnt make this one of my regular haunts when in london

The Hamilton Hall, Liverpool Street

visited around midday seemed a bit busy with suits but still plenty of room , one of the biggest pubs ive ever been to , got served quickly and the beer wasnt too bad , and one of the cheapest pints around the area

27 Mar 2006 16:49

The Princess of Wales, Charing Cross

was very busy when we went here , mind you this way around 5pm , nice pub nice drop of beer , seemed ok only stayed for the 1 as was getting jostled and bumped all the time

27 Mar 2006 16:45

The Sherlock Holmes, Charing Cross

been here many times and quick like this pub before 4pm after that it gets too busy , which is ok on a sunny afternoon as you can sit outside and watch the world go by , the beer is good and the service is good , the food upstairs is sublime , i do like this pub , but on a weekend you get alot of people doing the monopoly trail using the pub , but nice pub all in all

27 Mar 2006 16:41

Halfway II Heaven, Charing Cross

was in here during the day once , seemed a nice pub only had a bottle of bud as my mate who is a little homophobic twigged it was a gay pub and wanted out , but the staff were friendly , the music was good as well

27 Mar 2006 16:38

The Tipperary, Fleet Street

staff were brilliant when we popped in only went for one and stayed for a few more , good drop of guiness , and nice atmosphere , one fruit machine hidden away by the stairs . and sky tv on the telly nice pub all in all

1 Mar 2006 15:18

Keel Row Lloyds No 1, Newcastle

was in here a few times during the day seemed incredibly dark , the beer werent bad but at the end of day its a weatherspoons , didnt try the food , but the staff seemed friendly might just have been my accent who knows
not bad during day but bit packed most nights

15 Feb 2006 12:50

Que Pasa, Chelmsford

been in there since last posting , very strange decor but nice and alot brighter since was the toad , the manager/supervisors blinding had a right chat with him , one of the barman is dating a blonde bit would say around 17 and damn fine and shes a chatty person but he gets the right arse you talking to her even though she starts talkin to u first , the food menu looks brilliant didnt try it as didnt wana take up valuable beer space , the beer was good and a fair range of draught and a blinding selections of bottles , and according to my mate damo "the traps are ok" so i assume the toilets are clean

15 Feb 2006 12:37

The Sweeney's Bar, Chelmsford

this is one pub unless you know the area or have a map (or a friend that knows the pub) you would have trouble finding , words fail me with this pub , excellent doesnt come close , a small irish bar , as soon as we walked in the barmaid said hello , brilliant beer , one fruit machine which paid out quite well to us , this pub must be the hidden gem of the chelmsford circuit , always used the chain pubs when in chelmsford but thanks to a good friend of mine ive now found my new watering hole in chelmsford , the only downside is it quite small but in a way cosy , we went in around 2pm during the week and there was 7 people inluding the barmaid , this has to be the number 1 pub in chelmsford .
for people that wana try it walk down high street keep eye on right for amusement arcade with a alley way next to it , go down the alley way and turn right the pub is there.

15 Feb 2006 12:31

The Orange Tree, Havering Atte Bower

used to use this pub alot a few years back as with the trees out the front it hid the wagon so could slip in and have a few quiet beers without being caught , popped in a few months back with some friends and its still a good pub , but wouldnt spend too long here as not my cuppa tea , the beer was good and the service was good and friendly

7 Feb 2006 12:32

The Swan, Brentwood

a good selection of real ales as commented on previously , the pub itself is a olde type pub but the atmosphere is good and the staff seem friendly havent visited on a night time so cant comment about the bouncers but is becoming a mecca for beer tasters

7 Feb 2006 12:29

The White Hart, Hornchurch

right out of the way up a country lane , very difficult to get to without own transport and the police are very hot on drink driving and target this pub a fair bit so be warned , but about the pub itself fairly small but clean well turned out pub with a restuant type thing at the back does the best sunday roast for miles around hence why usually packed on a sunday lunchtime , a limited range of beers but all taste right
well worth a visit if passing

7 Feb 2006 12:25

King Harold, Harold Wood

one of our sunday boozers this before and after the legion , good staff and good beer , the locals are a bit wary of you if they dont know you but thats all , friendly people really

7 Feb 2006 12:22

The Royal Oak, South Ockendon

over looks the village green , a really nice pub , the beer is good as well , if i remember rightly did have a couple of pool tables but this was towards the end of the crawl so cant remember much , but remember the staff were good the beer was good so thats the main bits sorted

7 Feb 2006 12:20

The Jobbers Rest, Cranham

been here a fair bit this is my blind date pub , take a blind date here incase they are a bit on the rough side so no one knows me lol
but a good pub gets packed on bank holiday weekends with kids in the garden and parents in the bar , do quite like this pub just wish had better transport links as a bit off the beaten trail .
a fair drop of beer was served the glass was dirty and told them and they replaced the glass and the beer , havent tried the food but the menu looks appertising and have seen people eating and it looks proper food not microwaved stodge. a few fruit machines and a pool table and a few kids games out the back which create amusement after a few beers

7 Feb 2006 12:18

The Golden Crane, Cranham

good staff , nice big pub , the beer was ok , only bad thing is the local chavs thats hang around the shops by the pub , but all in a a very nice pub to go to , had a few night and day sessions in here and never had a problem

7 Feb 2006 12:05

Optimist Tavern, Upminster

another Ember inns chain pub , but the foods not bad here and pretty quick except on sunday lunchtimes when the whole pub is packed , the beer is good , but as i said it does have a tendancy to get busy , the beer garden wasnt bad in the summer , bit of a bugger to get to though as nearest bus is the 193 and then a 5min walk through the racecourse estate

7 Feb 2006 12:03

Huntsman and Hounds, Upminster

been here a few times for food with mixed results , like the ember inns brand for the open log fires and laid back atmosphere , and the range of beers isnt bad but was in here yesterday for a quick drink (had the wagon outside so only had a coke) my oppo had a pint of something which tasted awful he complained and got a bottle in place of , not a patch on the old days think this must be the exception to the ember inns pubs as the rest ive been to are reasonably good.

7 Feb 2006 11:59

Essex Yeoman, Upminster

a good pub , used to be a grungers pub , but has changed a lot since then , still a rock orientated pub but full of suits and chavs , but they tend to leave you alone , cant forget the looky looky man that always seems to be there when i am , the staff are very friendly and know the job well , the beer is above average quality but about right price wise , use this pub a fair bit as like the atmosphere in here during the day , many a day off pub crawl has started here

7 Feb 2006 11:52

Crumpled Horn, Upminster

first thought this was a weatherspoons but when the price for the round came in it was apparent it wasnt , a bit overpriced and at times packed , but the beers pretty good and seems clean , nice place to start on a night out

7 Feb 2006 11:48

The Windmill, Upminster

use this pub sometimes when hornchurch is boring us , not a bad pub beers ok , would avoid at lunchtime as get a fair few 6th formers from the college in and the pool tables are hogged , but not too bad , the staff seem ok whenever ive been there
and the beer garden is only a bit of decking in the car park but on a hot summers day this is brilliant for a relaxing pint in the sun

7 Feb 2006 11:46

The Strawberry, Newcastle

another good pub in newcastle , found it when coming out of shearers one evening last july , (bare in mind i come from essex and wasnt sure of me way around at this point) me and the missus went in and newcastle were away in a euro game shearers got packed so i said lets go into town and as we walked i saw strawberrys , went in staff were brilliant liked the accent ended up here till closing and was rather drunk, only complaint about here is the pool table area is a bit too small , but thats the only thing i found wrong , the beer was good and had a really traditional feel with loadsa magpie memrobillia on the walls
brilliant pub another im in love with in newcastle , but in general compared to my locals newcastle wins hands down everytime

6 Feb 2006 17:03

The Lounge, Newcastle

being a essex lad and having worked up in newcastle this pub was opposite where i was working , and thought give it a go , this became my local whilst i was up , and i never had a bad night here , happy hours and drinks promos all nite blinding boozer , was up a while back with some lads from work and we popped in whilst waiting for the train , we missed two trains sitting in here , the staff are out of this world , very friendly and helpful , the beer was iffy so we sent it back and got a bottle and a free bottle , brilliant im in love and also some of the most gorgeous women ive ever seen come here at weekends , unbeliveable , best pub ive been to for a bloody long while , shows essex pubs up

6 Feb 2006 16:57

The Victoria, Romford

used to be able to park me coach round the corner n slip in for a quick half on the way back to the yard here, is a old mans / locals pub but the beers not bad and pretty cheap and also miles outa town so dont get the idiots in here , not a bad boozer .

6 Feb 2006 16:50

The Goose, Romford

a lot better since it became the goose was my work local when it was the morland arms and that was crap , like it in here still have a pint in here whenever in romford , nice and friendly normally end up chatting to someone at the bar so the locals are friendly (for romford) , the staff are superb (whenever ive been in) always seems ok in here , bar next door is the worry but heard thats been closed down or something , this pub on my scale will be noted in dispatches , wasnt quite awarded a george cross cause last time i was in i got puked on by some chav idiot .
all in all a good punt worth a visit and the beer aint bad either

6 Feb 2006 16:46

The Litten Tree, Brentwood

crap crap crap went in here for a mates birthday a fair while ago around august 2005 and jodie marsh was in here , and the staff swarmed around her like flys around a fresh mound of excrement , but looking at jodie marsh this is a good indicator of the average punter caked in make up looking a right state , beer wasnt too bad. the only highlight of the night was leaving

1 Feb 2006 16:19

The Hog's Head, Southend on Sea

visited a few times seems ok during the day , brilliant beer garden in the summer usually packed though , normal range of hogshead beers , ive never had a dodgy pint out of this hogshead unlike another hogs i use often
dont know about the food as only here for the beer , nice atmosphere and generally good staff

1 Feb 2006 15:50

Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese, Fleet Street

belive it or not this is on the orignal london sightseeing tour as a point of intrest , i was shocked when driving the tour xmas day i heard about ye olde cheshire cheese and felt compelled to come back and have a try so i did , really nice pub got looked at a little strangely by some of the punters as me and my mate are both 24 and the clientele was slightly older than us , only had one drink as time wasnt on our side , but i like this pub and i will be back when i get a day off

1 Feb 2006 15:45

Goose At Fenchurch, Fenchurch Street

normally too busy when im about but have been here a few times cheap n cheerful

1 Feb 2006 15:16

The The Fen, Fenchurch St station

use this boozer on a regular basis ie whenever im waiting for a train home which isnt that often anymore , but gets pretty packed at times and sometimes the beer is a bit iffy but ok for a quick pint , wouldnt use all the time though

1 Feb 2006 15:14

Pitcher and Piano, Tower Hill

popped in just before xmas on a friday nite seemed ok and got served very quickly all things considered , nice atmosphere and good staff was on bottles all night so cant comment on the beer , but nice pub

1 Feb 2006 15:01

The Hung, Drawn and Quartered, Tower Hill

been in here a few times mainly during the day , really nice pub all in all , the staff are mainly all australian or south african but good at what they do , the beer is of good quality and i do like it in here during the day , havent visited at night yet so cant comment on that

1 Feb 2006 14:57

Crown, Hornchurch

popped in a while ago on way home from romford just to see what all the fuss was about , found it quite a nice pub , couldnt have anymore than a bottle due to driving , only stayed about twenty mins so cant really comment too in depth but seemed clean ,my mate had a pint n that tasted normal , but the decor commented on by anon 2/12/05 is correct could do with a lick of paint , but all in all ive been to better places but ive been to a lot worse .

30 Jan 2006 13:09

The Riverside Inn, Chelmsford

now this pub is superb , the look of it (a victorian style mill house) quite roomy inside and also in the summer sitting by the river having a beer n watching the world go by is sublime here , the staff seem ok the beers not bad did try the youngs once here n seemed ok , got to be in the top 3 pubs in chelmsford in my opinon anyway , only downsides are the food wasnt upto much when i dined and the food n drink are on the expensive side , but i guess this keeps away the unwanted clientele

30 Jan 2006 13:02

Que Pasa, Chelmsford

this pub is no longer a TOAD pub its a que pasa or something like that didnt bother going in there as looked slightly poncy to me

30 Jan 2006 12:58

Yates's, Chelmsford

not bad during the day , pretty quiet actually , beers not too bad, pricey compared to the likes of llyods but nice in the summer here , love chelmsford in the summer , well worth a visit during day if you like a nice beer in reasonable surroundings

30 Jan 2006 12:57

Edwards, Chelmsford

full of fanny , bit pricey but not too bad i guess , good for bird watching

30 Jan 2006 12:55

Thomas Mildmay, Chelmsford

now i do like this pub , the staff (whenever ive been there anyway) seem friendly and normally have a laugh n a joke , the beers good and the foods not bad a few fruit machines and one quiz machine , of a night time turns into a mini night club complete with DJ , good bar for a good night out at reasonable prices

30 Jan 2006 12:53

The Fleece, Chelmsford

use this pub during day if on business in chelmsford as find it a nice place to relax , good range of beer and food , one pool table and a few fruit machines which seem to attract the uni students and or chavs , but a nice pub also on a walk from station to town so stop in on way to town centre

30 Jan 2006 12:51

Chicago Rock Cafe, Chelmsford

Wasnt told sunday nites here were "gay nites" and sposedly the whole of chelmsford is gay nite on sunday nites , nice to be told i guess , but a fair drop of beer in here and the music last nite (sunday) was cracking had a really good time , unsure of what its like during the week though

30 Jan 2006 12:48

The Railway Hotel, Hornchurch

my number one pub in hornchurch during the day , after 4pm you start getting people coming home from work n it gets very busy , but the staff are friendly the beer is nice the food is exceptional
thats why this pub is my starting point for a drink in hornchurch

26 Jan 2006 17:45

The Harrow, Hornchurch

on a par with llyods just more expensive , full of chavs in their little cars personally not a favourite pub of mine only drink in here if hungry as food is good .

26 Jan 2006 17:43

The Chequers Inn, Hornchurch

brilliant pub , bill the landlord is your typical east end looking landlord but very friendly , good darts team as well
a proper pub for proper people you will not find many young people in here apart from me and my cousin but we dont cause any problems

26 Jan 2006 17:40

J J Moons, Hornchurch

this is one of my regular haunts and i do like it here , and the mixed views of gareth are correct , one day hes ok next days hes the sort of person who drinks in llyods , being a regular hornchurch drinker you get to know the staff and the beer and this is a fair pub for a weatherspoons , have eaten in here a few times and ive got to say the food wasnt bad , as usual with weatherspoons you get what u pay for , but the range of real ales and ciders is superb and well kept , and you do get a few chavs on a friday n saturday night but this is due to other pubs being stricly id only , but a nice pub normally

26 Jan 2006 17:36

The Kings Head, Hornchurch

nice little pub , being a hornchurch lad this is one of my prefered pubs , good beer n nice atmosphere , the staffs attitude could be improved towards younger people like myself , but i would rate this as my number 2 pub in hornchurch , and as someone else mentioned they serve bud on tap , only place in hornchurch apart from llyods .
well worth a visit

26 Jan 2006 17:28

The Hogshead, Hornchurch

was a ok pub till certain bar staff left , now gone down hill the staff are superb and do the best with the s**t provided , but in a nutshell full of attitudes n arseholes , try the fatlin

26 Jan 2006 17:24

The Minster Tavern, Ely

probably the best pub in ely , nice food as well , and totally agree with the other comment probably the cheapest boozer in ely

24 Jan 2006 14:03

The Liberty Bounds, Tower Hill

been here a few times , the staff seem friendly and a good selection of beer , dont like the way the smokers are all downstairs though but good cheap boozer for the area

4 Jan 2006 19:49

The Phoenix, Rainham

used to drink in here quite regular , and it always seemed ok better than say the bell or the angel , the landlord looked a typical landlord , but he and his staff knew the drinks and all in all wasnt a bad boozer .
recommended to all but advise watch out on saturday nights walking to the bus stop cause of all the little chavs who cant get served in the pheonix go to the angel (where i used to get served when i was 15) and they think they can fight the world after two stellas
