The Bricklayers Arms, Beckenham

Popped in for a pint on Saturday and sat in the newly refurbished outside area, catching a few rays of sunshine. They had a few real ales on & the bar staff were prompt and polite. There are a number of screens showing sport but they don't overpower the place. I didn't eat but a couple nearby had some Thai food which looked good. The pub isn't worthy of the low rating & I'm happy it's nice and local to me! I will be back.

Hunters Lodge Inn, Cornworthy

Stayed in Cornworthy the last two summers, and frequented the Hunters Lodge. Welcoming pub, excellent ales and the food was freshly cooked and reasonably priced. I'll be back for in 2013!

The Masons Arms, York

Visited York last week and the Mason's Arms was local to the hotel we stayed in. The staff were friendly, the beer excellent, especially the Golden Sheep and the food was superb & came in good portions. Ok for those with children as well.

The Walrus and Carpenter, Monument

Re-opened today after it's refurbishment. It's certainly lost the feel of a 'proper pub', but there's no chrome to be seen, and the new upstairs bar looks really nice. Didn't see any of the flies that plagued the place prior to it being closed. Overall, pretty good and I'll certainly be back. Oh, and they were even giving away free drinks this lunchtime!

East India Arms, Fenchurch Street

Had a few lunchtime beers at the East India recently. It was busy, but the service was still very good, and the beer in good shape. A 'proper' pub

The Lamb Tavern, Leadenhall Market

Decent pint, excellent location, and really good beef rolls. However, what happened to the lady who used to administer the carvery? took 20 mins plus yesterday to get served when there were only a handful of customers waiting.

FTs Free House, Fenchurch Street

Stumbled across this one when I couldn't get served in the Cheese. I was pleasantly suprised when I saw the the pint glasses being kept cold in the fridge and decent pint poured. Nice bar staff, ok pub grub, bit of a blokes pub, and the toilets stink like my works'. Worth a visit a visit though.

Goose At Fenchurch, Fenchurch Street

Not a bad pub for a few cheap cheeky beers on a day before pay day. If it gets sunny, the lane outside gets packed, and is known locally as 'whiplash alley' due to the large volumes of quality totty walking up and down the stairs outside. However, when it is busy you can't get served.

The Walrus and Carpenter, Monument

I consider this pub to be a little gem in the City; a 'proper' pub amongst the same old wine bars and 'McDonalds Style' chains. The bar staff are friendly and helpful, the atmosphere always good, and the Guinness is excellent. During the summer, the outside turns into a suntrap and we have spent many a lazy Friday lunchtime sinking cold ones in the sun (and some Mondays!). The food is good, and the Christmas lunches are superb.
