Brigantes Bar and Brasserie, York

A good pub with good beer, if you find yourself on Micklegate then well worth popping in.

The Waggon and Horses, York

Very friendly landlord who knows his beer and keeps a quality collection of real ales across hos short bar, I am told there are other rooms but never left the front bar. Excellent place for a quiet beer most days and a regular quiz and live music on occassion.

The Terrace, York

It's a sports bar and for that it is OK, if you go in looking for anything else you are likely to be disappointed. It has had a pretty average pint of Black Sheep on the last few times I've been in.

The Snickleway Inn, York

Some of the best beer in York, last time I was in we were spoiled for choice with Taylor's Landlord & Best Bitter and Rudgate Freyja's tears, a recent star of the York beer festival amongst others.

The Old White Swan, York

Big pub divided into several different bars, often confusing if you arrange to meet here. Great range of real ales. If you choose to eat here it is a chain pub and you get what you pay for.

Lamb and Lion, York

An absolute favourite when Jack had it, now not so sure. Still worth it for the beer garden.

KoKo International Bar, York

A great place to sit at the bar, if there's room. Interesting and friendly owner/staff good selection of beers and spirits and a real coffee machine if you are in the mood.

The Habit, York

A true hidden gem (still), recently only one real ale on at a time but its always a good one! Staff very friendly.

The Guy Fawkes Hotel, York

Good pub but not totally convinced about all the Guy Fawkes stuff but it keeps the tourists amused. Good beer but can be a bit of a lottery as to what is on. Not impressed with the menu on a recent visit or the service, but still worth popping in.

The Beeswing, York

Was in recently as part of the Camra Real Ale trail, very friendly land lady and good beer, a bit too far along the Hull Road to make it a regular.

The Phoenix, York

Excellent compact pub, Jon & Jenny are welcoming hosts and make you feel at home. Been in recently watching the Rugby World Cup, very early starts are made more bearable with coffee and bbq breakfasts at half time. Followed by a beer or two from the decent choice of real ales.
