Edwards, Romford

pretty crap really. unless you want a fight, which you'll always get on the weekend ... if you really have to, go ij the week when it's quiet and laugh at the beckham wannabees drinking cheap champagne!

Brannigans, Romford

last time i went to this place it was like the post-GCSE club, barely anyone over 17 in age or IQ. So i've avoided it completely ... however, looking at the other comments, it looks like it's started to impose an age limit so I'll be going back soon ...

O'Gradys Bar, Ilford

Yes a very good pub ... used to be better though, before the youngsters from ilford started coming. it was just like being back in the old country when it opened, and had more charm that a hatful of pies, but it's a little too popular now so has lost some of its charm. dont go on st patricks day, it's so packed the essex fire brigade should shut it down, and its full of 16 yr old girls in green hats. 4 yrs ago i'd have given it a 10 ... now its barely a 7.

The Prospect of Whitby, Wapping

My dad built the Pewter bar in this pub. Go and see the Pewter bar, its fab. And metal. Go and take a photo of it, but go in the week as it is full of tourists at other times ...

Cauliflower, Ilford

It's a sad story of this pub ... used to be the best pub there is, full stop. 10 years ago it had everything, great live music, good pool tables and great players, hundreds of fit chicks and reasonable price beer. Then it went down hill, and no one know why, the people just stopped coming. I blame the hellhole that is North St Romford ...

But we can build it back up again, lets all get down there and show our support. It IS the best live band place still ...

The Brown Bear, Whitechapel

My local work pub but not great. Is too busy, too thin, and too loud I'm afraid, however the dark-haired barmaid is arguably the most gorgeous woman in a 5-mile radius ... oh and the Thai food is fab!

The Coopers Arms, Chadwell Heath

kele21, please ... never seen any trouble??? How about every week??? I'm sure you're gorgeous but are you sure you did a review of the right pub??? Between 7-11pm Friday and Saturday night, the corner of Station Rd and High Rd Chadwell Heath is virtually a no go area ...

The Hayfield, Stepney Green

Great pub, and I agree that it's arguably the best pub for miles around. A bit pricey (and I'm not a student) so makes you wonder at times how the students afford to go in there, but still it's a great pub. I've been going here for about 15 years, am probably the oldest person in there most days (I'm trendy though!) and still it feels like home. Thats gotta be a good pub!

The Eva Hart, Chadwell Heath

Not great anymore I'm afraid. When it opened, fine, but why have the management allowed their pub to turn into the Chadwell Heath 15-20 yr old Youth Centre in recent years??? Especially in the Summer, when the beer garden resembles a cross between a kindergarten and the Weat Ham supporters club? The average age of a drinker in this pub 4 years ago was around 25 - now it's probably down to 20 and dropping ...

Avoid like the plague unless you have just left school, and fancy a bottle of WKD.

The Coopers Arms, Chadwell Heath

I used to go in the Coopers 7 or 8 years back, when it was a 'real' pub, and the Eva Hart didn't exist yet, and it was really good on occasion, with the odd bit of trouble but nothing OTT. The problem is that once the Eva Hart opened, it seemed to take all of the mature people from the Coopers, and left the rest. These days - even after the refurb, which looks great from the outside - it's still mainly full of roughnecks from Dagenham, and if you want a quiet, or fun, night out I would suggest you walk down to the White Horse ...
