The Moody Cow, Upton Bishop

Well kept pint , local Wye Valley fare, tasty food although a little expensive, seemed very popular and well booked up for meals. Seems to be a good part of the local community.

The Red Lion, Swanley

After a brief closeure and change of Tenant, things are looking a liitle better, nicely kept ales and friendly service make it the preferred local.

The George, Bexley Village

Tasty meal deal, pleasant "house" ale and good service, atmosphere a little dead but was a weekday lunchtime.

The Papermakers Arms, Hawley

Tribute was very drinkable, good value Roast lunch with a varied menu with "specials" and a warm welcome.

Bird In Hand, Dartford

Attended for a function, warm welcome but unfortunately no beer due to a recent adjacent pub closeure.

The Kentish Rifleman, Dunks Green

Last visited some 7 or so years ago before the fire. Pleased to taste the beer was still spot on, (Whitstable Native) service was friendly and welcoming.

The Sydney Arms, Chislehurst

Visited for sunday lunch, busy with a good atmosphere, cheese on the bar and a good buzz about the place. Generous portions and nicely done food with well kept ales too.

Restaurant section looks as if it gets busy, bar is cosy and staff friendly and attentive.

The Ship, Hextable

Decent ale and a tasty sunday lunch has made this pub more desirable.

Animals and large play area for the children in a family friendly area, with a public bar for the more serious drinker.

Recommended for a sunny sunday afternoon, a definate improvement on recent years.

The Rock, Chiddingstone Hoath

Visited after a tour of the Larkins Brewery.
Larkins nicely kept, must travel well !
Food good but maybe a little expensive , or I may be behind the times

The Chequers Inn, Swanley

Situated in Crockenhill.

Decent pint of Broadside, but the service was poor from a barman who did not want to be there.....after one pint neither did we.

The Cressy Arms, Dartford

Become a favourite after watching The Darts FC.
Two good guest ales, pub grub available and friendly staff.

Even a parcel collect service, a great effort being made.

The Crispin, Great Longstone

Plenty of room, nice Robinsons plus guest, enjoyed food and was pleased with service overall.

The Packhorse Inn, Bakewell

Super welcome and some very satisfying Thornbridge ales. Well kept and some tasty snacks too !

The Derwent Water Arms, Calver

Food pub that thinks it is better than it is, beer was average but bar crowded and very hot to the point of being overpowering.

A shortage of staff didn't help but those there struggled well to cope.

Popular with locals although the EA on the other side of the main drag is better value for evening meals when the kids have departed !.

The Bridge Inn, Calver

Warm welcome, tasty food, well kept St Austell "Proper Job" although the food did arrive with a huff and a bang !

The Eyre Arms, Calver Sough

Nice, well kept, beer and giant food proportions, have a starter only unless you are Big Daddy ! Friendly service

The Bull, Horton Kirby

The Punk Monk at 6% was worth a taste although several pints did for my companions. A wide choice of ales and a Blues Band on a hot BH made it a memorable afternoon.

The BBQ, unfortunately, did not add to the enjoyment at all.

The Chequers, Farningham

Can't fault the beers, excellent choice and well kept.
Have spent many long days on the bench outside waiting for an Auto Prang, without success so far, as the sunday drivers cut the corner.
A firm favourite !

The Sportsman, Amberley

Only had time for a quick pint whilst cycling through, very friendly, excellent location, menu seems appetizing, must return soon.

Warm afternoon on the verandah overlooking the Brooks with a cool pint, very nice indeed.

The Lullingstone Castle, Swanley

Still Chav City, worth a cheap pint of Ruddles when you watch the footy but don't linger beyond the final whistle.

18 Aug 2009 17:37

The Woodman, Swanley

Now a curry house, so dont bother !

18 Aug 2009 17:35

The Lamb Inn, Swanley

Have enjoyed the Lamb for many years under different patrons but the beer has just not been a pint to relish for some time, a surly young barman did not help matters.

A spell at the Red Lion is paying dividends, the beer slightly better and the welcome is brighter.

The Red Lion, Swanley

With new tenants, the Red Lion is making an effort and appears to be competing well against The Lamb.

The beers change frequently, usually two real ales on although they tend to be just running out when I visit ! Tribute and Ringwood Best last week for example.

Sunday Lunches are served at good value and the Thai Restaurant has had good reviews open thursday to saturday.

All in all a good recovery and worth a visit.
