The Anglesey Arms Hotel, Caernarfon

Visited August Bank Holiday 2011.

Pub is in a great position with impressive views over the Menai Strait to Anglesey - especially at sunset. Tables outside for food and drink. Juke box, pool table and three decent ales available - plus the gassy stuff fot those that want it! Friendly and efficient staff. Food advertised 1200-1430 and 1800-2000 - mussels available when I was there. Advertised a quiz (Thursday) and live music (Fri).

Llanerch Inn, Llandrindod Wells

Great place for a beer. Several Real Ales on tap on my visit and all on top form. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food great and reasonably priced. If you want a bed for the night the rooms here are fine - clean, tidy and well maintained.

Pleasant patio area at the rear and a large grassed area with trees and tables out at the front.

Worth a visit.

No real ale. John Smiths (extra cold - bloody freezing) bitter, Boddingtons keg, Carlsberg, Fosters, Kronenberg, San Miguel, draught (hand pumped) Scrumpy, Strongbow, Guinness. Selection of wines, spirits and bottled stuff. Cheap food - 2 for 1 etc which appears ok. Loads of TV's for the footie (can't avoid them) and many matches shown live. Juke box. Entertainment:-
Mon - Curry Night (buy a drink and get a curry - obviously subject to availability)
Tues ?? - Quiz night
Thurs - open mic night
Fri - Karaoke

The Railway Tavern, Flixton

Feb 2010. A typical Sam Smiths pub. Cheap (and excellent) draught beer - 1.39 for a pint of bitter approx 50p more for lager/stout. Sells hand pulled bitter, Sovereign (keg), Mild (keg), Stout and Lager - no branded beer or spirits of any description, and no alcopops. No televisions or Juke Box on instructions from the brewery. A great pub for a good natter and a fine beer. Quiz held every Thursday night with the quizmaster rotating on a six/seven week rota.
Opening times:-
Mon 1200 -2300
Tue-Thu 1400 -2300
Fri-Sat 1200-2300
Sun 1200-1600, 1900-2230.
Drinking up times are unfortunately a strict 20mins on instructions from the brewery.
A great pub for a good natter and a great pint (but not for wine/alcopops/spirits) - just a shame that the brewery seem intent on micromanaging everything. When the TV and music was in the place couldn't be faulted. No food and no kids.
