The Bright Helm, Brighton

Execpt for the cheap booze deals, (and they are cheap), stay as far away from this place as possible, unless you're a Ben Shermen, drain-pipe trouser wearing sheep. Sorry

The Temple Bar, Brighton

A great pub for all needs, the upstairs pool room is perfect with it's 2 tables and own bar and toilets. Downstairs there is plenty of seats and the food is pretty good.
The only thing i would say about it is try to avoid it if there is a big match on and you're not the biggest footy or rugger fans, you could find yourself a bit lost with nowhere to sit and you'll be shouting over the crowd.
Great atmosphere.

The Providence, Hove

From the outside this pub just looks like any other Yates/Wetherspoon Hole, and I guess you would be right. Except for the live bands the have on Friday nights, which have been exellent and range from Indie to Rock and Grunge, it doesn't have a great deal more to offer. You can usually find a seat as it's pretty large and it comes with the usual company style menu, burgers, wraps, dips, chips and chicken wings. I only go for the music when it is transformed for a night into a great venue.

The Robin Hood, Brighton

A great new pub for Brighton, having just opened at the beginning of the summer. If every major corporation had the same attitude to profits as this place, (as they donate all profits to charity), I think the world would be a very very different place. Cosy atmosfere and big comfy leather chairs. The only food they do is tasty pizza, cooked in a small oven just behind the bar, served with fresh basil leaves and hot olive oil......Mmmmm. Friendly staff that are hard to keep your eyes off, and live music in the evenings from time to time.
Full thums up, cracking!

The Smugglers, Brighton

I'm not too sure what people are seeing in this place, except for the fact that you can always get hold of a free pool table, (as there are 6), this pub has nothing else to offer. It's dingy decor and usual selection of average beers and spirits make your usual Yates/Wetherspoon dive. The only difference being that they don't have a magor company capital behind them to keep it in good order or to supply much needed drink offers. ps the pool tables need re-felting

The Pull and Pump, Brighton

Friendly staff and a fine selection of spirits and ales. Convinent for a lunch time drink but stay well away from the food and wine, except for the sandwhiches!

Hop Poles, Brighton

This is one of the best pubs for food in Brighton, but I would have to agree about the staff. At a glance they seen to be your average layed back Brightopians, but it doesn't take them too long to make you feel like an out-sider, with a sort of miss-placed superiority, I mean there only serving you drinks for christ's sake, not 24 carrot diamonds!!
But full respect to the kitchen.
