Southern Cross, Watford

Manageress woman seems quite unfriendly, I've found. I tried to book a table for an event and she never go back to me. I've found the bar staff to be quite ok though. Especially one of the bar girls who always gives me a smile. Food not good but tolerable. Usually 3 guest beers on (and they no longer taste of soap!)

The White Lion, Watford

Welcoming staff, friendly atmosphere and good selection of ales. I walk past 4 pubs to get here and I consider it my 'local' (Verulam, Wishing Well, Dunnings and Champions)

The Wishing Well, Watford

Irish pub but not intimidatingly Irish. Not exactly cosy and welcoming but a damn sight better than the Verulam and Dunnings.

The Prince Alfred, Upper Holloway

Unwelcoming. For locals only.

The Shaftesbury, Holloway

I've visited here occasionally for years. Its ok but they never have more than one real ale on and often dont have any on at all.

The Wellington, Strand

Had the fish and chips it claimed to be famous for. Generous portion of fish but then I chose "large" and it was a tenner. I don't think the fish was cod or haddock, it was bland and tasteless.
Not a nice example of one of our national dishes to give to a tourist.
