The Westcliff Tavern and Carvery, Bournemouth

Opened early in 2006.

Offers plenty of comfortable & stable wooden tables outisde with sunshine from opening time 'til shortly before sunset. (no plastic, thank goodness!) Only a short walk to the pier, the beaches and the town centre.

A good range of excellent real ales BUT THE ROAST BEEF CARVERY IS SUPERB VALUE! 6.95 on Saturday & Sunday and 10.00 for two during the week, with a choice of 8 vegetables! This is the best value carvery I've found in Bournemouth in the past 5 years and I live here! No dreadful music either. We'll certainly be back regularly. Thanks for opening on West Cliff!

The Turf Tavern, Oxford

How anyone can possibly call this pub 'over-rated'! A great selection of ales and ciders in a pub that is TRULY historic, over hundreds of years! It may well be 'owned' by a 'suspect' pub group, but at leat they have left it largely as it has been over many years - well done! (Don't like your other 'plastic pubs, though!)

The Kings Arms, Stoborough

Just outside Wareham, on the way to Corfe Castle. An old historic pub (with tasteful refurbishments) and managed by a young, but experienced, and knowledgable landlord - Damian) A superb selection of well-kept 'real ales' and an imaginative menu. Highly recommended!!

Bar Me, Bournemouth

Originally - the Gas showroom - then an Estate Agency - then the JUG of ALE - superb Hogshead Ale House, loved by all ages! After an amazingly 'ridiculous' (and expensive!) refurb we were presented with the 'plastic' 'Hogshead'! Enough said - it's now called 'Bar Me' ... many of the regulars of the former 'Jug' need say no more ... just 'Bar 'Us'' ... it's complete 'crap' ... probably be sold soon!

The Ship Inn, Porthleven

An old, historic harbourside pub (dating back hundreds of years) serving excellent real ales ... and a SUPERB MENU! Just make sure you arrive early to secure a table!

The Fox, Corfe Castle

I've had the pleasure of taking many 'overseas' visitors to a really traditional English pub - with great beers, and superb food! Thank you, Graham and Anne for 'maintaining' such a wonderful pub! In the summer - what a garden!

Bankes Arms Hotel and Country Inn, Studland

A wonderful location, BUT ... disappointing quality! I have to agree with several of earlier 'posters' ... the most tasteless 'crab salad' I've ever tasted, and I do come from Cornwall!
