Nags Head On The Thames, Abingdon

had pub lunch there twice. Great food at reasonable price and a variety of mainly local beers (Abingdon bridge etc).

The Broad Face, Abingdon

Has recently been taken over by swiss-german/american chef (friendly chap) and is now definitely a restaurant rather than a pub. Lunch is very good value (£10 for 2 courses), Broad Face is currently probably the best place to eat in Abingdon.

The Plough, Clifton Hampden

now more a chinese restaurant rather than a pub. Friendly landlord and -lady, v. good food and still a very nice bar

The Flowing Well, Sunningwell

Ownership has changed yet again. Underwent a major refurb and is now more of a restaurant than a pub. Terrace etc. look very nice but prices are far too high (8.50 for a pint of old hooky's and a small glass of wine). Still probably the loveliest beergarden near Oxford (hence the price)

The Barrel of Beer, Beer

must have been lucky compared to others. 5 of us (incl. kids) went there on the hunt for dinner. Interior looked a bit shabby but staff was welcoming and food was good (2x moules, risotto, rock salmon, seafood pasta). Pint (Tribute) was OK as well. Had a friendly chat with the landlady afterwards. Will probably go again..

Spread Eagle, Abingdon

have to change my mind compared to my previous review (and after 5 years of going there every monday). "New" owners are friendly and welcoming, and so are the locals. Food is so-so, we had a christmas do there and they couldn't cope with the numbers. Great chips though and good beer. One of the last "proper" pubs in Abingdon

The Flowing Well, Sunningwell

onwership has changed. The place has been partly converted into one of those boring pub/bistro places with Ikea/MFS-style furniture etc. No more bands during sunday lunch and the relaxed atmosphere has gone too. On the positive side you now get the food you ordered (and rather substantial portions too!) and the service is good. The beergarden is still great so for a sunday out it;s still a good place to go.

Spread Eagle, Abingdon

Pub changed hands recently (some folks from the nearby Boundary house). Still an OK local pub with a variety of beers but landladies not as welcoming as the previous owners

The Wheatsheaf Inn, Drayton

good food (not cheap), friendly staff and nice beergarden...great place in summer

Cherry Tree, Steventon

update-Jez has left and the new manager has managed to scare off the locals it seems, shame. Still a nice pub, but the atmosphere has definitely suffered

Cherry Tree, Steventon

great place, always guest beers and a nice atmosphere, though very busy during lunchtime on weekdays. Food is OK, lagers a bit pricey, but I guess that way Jez manages to tempt more people into drinking ale.
