Greystoke, Ealing

The pub is looking really good these days. Fitted out well. Plenty of tvs to watch sport.
Range of beers is OK but the food is outstanding.
Worth going just for a meal.
Oh, and to see the lovely dark haired barmaid with tattoos on her feet!

The Old City Arms, Hammersmith

Good for nostalgia value.
An old schooltime drinking haunt , must have been there with weston...

Good thai food there now.
Says it all really.

The Fox, Putney

Good for a friday night out on the lash.
Go in with more expectations than that and you will be sorely disappointed.

This pub's raison d'etre is to get the hard working office staff of Putney plastered on any given evening thus ensuring billions of pounds lost to the economy due to hangovers. Take it from someone who knows...

Apart from the ubiquitous Chelsea fans , it's not a bad place.

The Bricklayers Arms, Putney

Believe the hype - this is a cracking pub.
Great range of beers, great service. Good ambience!

Yes it may be quiet during the daytimes but that's a good thing no? Enjoy a pint with a book or newspaper.Isn't that what daytime drinking is about.

One negative - didnt take debit or credit cards.

Don't leave Putney without a visit here.

The Coat and Badge, Putney

I must be missing something. Best pub in Putney.. not likely.
Walk past this one and head to the Jolly Gardeners about 2 mins down the road.

The Spotted Horse, Putney

nickthe fish is spot on.
I give up on this place. its being refurbished yet again - the 5th time since i've been working in Putney - about 12 years.

Poncey and way too expensive.
Take advantage of the discount card if you can get hold of one.

The Rocket , Putney

Great location - especially as it means you can watch the posers in the Boathouse spending a quid more for there beverage.

Having said that, not cheap by Wetherspoons standards and it is more restaurant than pub but still a good range and price of beer and wines.

30 Jun 2011 20:17

The Jolly Gardners, Putney

Looks like it could be a typical pricey Putney pub but st surprisingly decent inside and lacks the pomposity of its near neighbours - yes that means you the Duke's Head.

Has a good range of beers. Will guarantee a good after work drink up.

30 Jun 2011 20:15

The Boathouse, Putney

Exploits its position to hike the beer prices up, when you can get served that is.
Good for the Putney posing brigade.

The Coach and Horses, Ickenham

Nice pub this.
Busy at weekends and has Landlord on draught.

30 Jun 2011 20:12

The Middlesex Arms, South Ruislip

This could be such a good pub.
Couple of things let it down - poor range of beers, Stella, carlsberg and the token London Pride to satisfy the Camra lot and too many Chelsea fans.
A decent selection of beers would do wonders here as it a nice cavernous pub, with a decent beer garden out front and back.

Some decent bands wouldn't go amiss. Elvis tributes ? Leave that for the curry houses and get some proper music in.

30 Jun 2011 20:10

The Soldiers Return, West Ruislip

Been a couple of times and seemed ok. Decent pint of kronenbourg.
Fairly quiet which seems standard for a lot of pubs these days.

30 Jun 2011 20:05

The Griffin, Brentford

Good post-game pub.
Bit pricey though.

30 Jun 2011 20:02

The New Inn, Brentford

Agree with steej, the best of the big 4!

30 Jun 2011 20:02

Roddy's Bar, South Ealing

Strange little place this one. Small but welcoming.
Good for a few pints before hitting the bright lights of Ealing or before seeing a match at the Theatre of Dreams that is Griffin Park.

30 Jun 2011 20:01

The Spinning Wheel, Northfields

Another pub bites the dust.

Many a good night spent in here.
Oh well, Duffys it will have to be then.

30 Jun 2011 19:59

The Shanakee, Ealing

Good pub for the rugby and football.
Excellent jukebox but too many choices- took me ages to decide what to spend my 50p on.

Pretty good selection of beers and whiskeys. Not good if you are into your ales but excellent if you want to get trolleyed.

30 Jun 2011 19:58

Jono's, Ealing Common

A hidden gem of a pub even though it is on a busy road.
Good for a laugh when the GAA games are on.

30 Jun 2011 19:55

The North Star, Ealing

Agree with the service not being great but they have a good range of beers and not too pricey for Ealing.
Good atmosphere and a good beer garden.

30 Jun 2011 19:54

The Red Lion and Pineapple, Acton

Doesn't let the Wetherspoon's side down too badly.
Beer OK and service good despite there being busy.

Don't expect to meet the love of your life there though...unless 80 year Actonites are your type.

30 Jun 2011 19:52

The Redback, Acton

I think i had some good memories of this place. Especially looking up at the ceiling to see the old Gin Palace sign.
Had some great bands and a good atmosphere.

God knows what it is like now though as I haven't been for years but am sure it hasn't changed much.
Worth considering buying a pint of whatever beer they have and throwing it over yourself immediately to save time later while trying to manoeuvre your way around the place.

30 Jun 2011 19:50

Talbot, Acton

7.8 / 10 - really?
I demand a recount.

30 Jun 2011 19:47

The Windsor Castle, Kensington

Great pub, full of character and a cracking beer garden with a bar in the back for those summer evenings.
Lots of nooks and crannies which aren't ideal for bloaters like me to negotiate but a good buzzy atmosphere.
Forget about getting seat friday evening though.

Excellent range of beers and ciders. Westons Old Rosie at 3.70 a pint will finish you off nicely.

30 Jun 2011 19:46

The Uxbridge Arms, Notting Hill

Nice old school boozer.

Watch the stairs to the loo after a few pints though...

30 Jun 2011 19:44

The Hope and Anchor, Hammersmith

Talk about a transformation.
Who'd have thought the Hope and Anchor would ever have come out of it's closet.

Am guessing the old Irish music has disappeared from the jukebox.

30 Jun 2011 19:42

The Hammersmith Ram, Hammersmith

Nice pub. Good range of beers. Best pub on King Street.
Had good memories from the place when it was the Builders Arms.

30 Jun 2011 19:39

The Prince, Shepherds Bush

In its new incarnation, this place is now the Raving Buddha , or something equally stupid.
Quite possibly the worst pub/bar/club (or whatever it purports to be) I have ever visited.

Absolutely soulless. Beer not great either. The usual Stella/Fosters combination.

And why the umbrellas on the ceiling? I think I must have missed the point.

30 Jun 2011 19:37

The Central Bar, Shepherds Bush

You could go into this pub at any time of day , on any day of the week , and week in the year and the same people will always be there. , notably the Aborigine postman and the busker guy with the guitar slung over his shoulder.

Still not a bad pub for a couple of pints before heading to the Central line home.

Not great for smokers though as it's a bit of a hike downstairs.
Handy for the Aussie Pie shop too.

30 Jun 2011 19:31

The Defector's Weld, Shepherds Bush

Best pub in Shepherd's Bush? Possibly. Not much in the competition stakes though.
Plus point : Very good selection of beers. Could easily spend a lot of time here going through the drinks menu.
Minus point : Prices hovering around the 4 mark.
There seems to be an unofficial dress code which means all the blokes have to wear cardigans and thick glasses.
